For the most part you just kinda walk in to a thread and participate. Most people aren't too picky. Whenever you're available there's probably some little thing to do. As for OCs, well, I can offer advice, but really they're more to your personal taste

Well, what usually works for me when it comes to RP is to just make a thread introducing my character to people. That gives basic interaction and allows for further development between characters. If you mean like talking to people in a non-RP sort of way, people just go to PMs for that.

Unfortunately, Joan has actually been used, exactly one time, so you could probably get away with it. As for how to fit her in, well, fit it IC really. No need to worry so much about the plot here because, for the most part, there's not really a main one. Just a few running that you kinda just jump into and see what happens. For example, there's a tournament arc that hopefully won't just die out again. Entry is closed, but you can still spectate whenever matches happen
