Another dose of Pokemon facts: in the Gen 1 games, it is possible to "softlock" yourself into a practically unwinnable situation in Lorelei's Elite 4 battle. What you need to do:
-Teach a poison- or fighting-type pokemon "Rage." and only have it in your party.
-Get rid of your TMs, and HMs if you can. Somehow. Maybe have someone hold them idk.
-Use all of your other moves' PP up, except for Rage.
-Enter Lorelei's room and save.
-Use Rage.
Lemme explain how this works: since the AI is stupid in Gen 1, it'll spam a move with a type supereffective to the opponent. Even if it's a status move. Therefore, Dewgong will spam the "supereffective" Psychic-type Rest. This means that it can indefinitely heal off the Rage damage, and keep on spamming since the AI doesn't use up PP.
Meanwhile, Rage costs 1 PP to use, and continues indefinitely at no cost until it misses. Its base power is so low that it can't KO Dewgong, even with crits. On top of that, Rage has only a 1 in 256 chance to miss, so you aren't running out of PP anytime soon. So you're stuck in an endless loop until you restart the game.
