Boss Revies Mario Odyssey
i had very high hopes for this game, and those hopes were hightened when i saw the number of collectibles, about 833 collectible power moons (the games version of stars) are in the game, and as such, this game is stylized after titles like mario 64, sunshine, and the galaxy games, that is its a collectathon. and before you think "fuck that im not getting all those" well hold up and listen here for a second, the game contnually rewards you for collecting power moons and reward you when you reach milestones, including new items in the shops, and sometimes even new levels. now, lets get into the core of every mario game that is the strong point of the series, story! in odyssey, bowser kidnaps peach. BUT WAIT, WE HAVE A REASON!!! bowser has captured a citizen of the nearby cap kingdom who conveniently can become an elegant tiara, and mario tries to stop bowsers plans which end up being....to marry peach. yeah, like a legitimate wedding, and mario needs to stop it because he wants peach for himself maybe? i dunno at this point. bowser easily overwhelms mario who has infiltrated his airship, and gets knocked down to the cap kingdom where he meets cappy, the brother of the aforementioned tiara, he chats about the fact that you need to do a mario thing (rescue the princess and his sister) and then transforms into your cap, and says that you'll need a ship to pursue bowser, one is in the neighboring kingdom which cappy says can be reached via the top of the bonneton tower. after a stroll through the town of bonneton and noticing that everything is shaped like a tophat, including the tower, you go right ahead and encounter the new Broodals, evil rabbit wedding planners i guess that are also mobsters? nintendo is creative somehow, and after conquering them, mario and cappy get flung into the cascade kingdom and thus the real game begins! you get power moons from the world youre in, power up the ship, and move on in pursuit of bowser. oh yeah, the ship is in cascade kingdom, old and decrepit, mario and cappy have to collect power moons to restore it, and do so promptly. after that the story is kinda.....existant? eventually you have encounters and continue to fight and pursue bowser yeah, but its just "bowser stole this wedding stuff from this kingdom, lets go catch them" and then you collect stuff around the world, and then move on. the real meat of this game is the gameplay, capturing enemies, exploring the lands, and collecting moons for goodies. almost every world has a designated shop to buy souvenirs and outfits unique to that world with world specific purple coins, scattered around the world and used to purchase said merch. so far i have 2 souvenirs, both of them featuring pauline because pauline is best girl. theres tons of outfits for mario to wear, from dumb fashion, lovely suits, a fedora, to even giving him his old 64 model, hell, you can even have him wear waluigis clothes!
but, the gameplay is my focus, and its super good! it controlls wonderfully and you can pull off some amazing stuff with the skill to do it in your pocket. nintendo planted secrets EVERYWHERE, from power moons to boatloads of coins and just little details that will astonish you. mario feels wonderful and as agile as ever, with new moves involving cappy that allows you to jump on him to reach great heights, stylish spins and dazzling graphical detail (the first sea world being my favorite) and rest assured, the most advertised world, the metro kingdom, is dazzling, the graphical design, the detail, the exploration! and in helping paulione collect musicians, you get access to the new donk city festival! a dazzling spectacle with music and an 8 bit traveling section that lets you fight donkey kong in an adapted version of the first level of the classic Donkey Kong. combined with the accompanying festival track "Jump Up, Super Star!" this is a very high pint and will go down as one of my favorite videogame moments. all in all, mario odyssey is a must try for nintendo fans and a game id highly reccomend for collectathon aficionados.
Can you please add paragraph breaks?
Can you please add paragraph breaks? you cant edit after a few minutes, and really? all that writing and you want me to correct formatting?
Just saying when there's that much writing without breaks, it puts off people immediately (sheer scope of how it looks) and makes it a lot harder to actually read too. Just for future reviews, something to keep in mind.
Okay but...here's the thing...Boss' words are law. You respect that man. No ifs ands or buts about it. Formatting schmormatting, he went out of his way to post one hell of a review and really open his opinions on the game. Cut him some slack boy.
Which is why I want more people to actually read them. To not think it's just a rambling wall of text at first glance.

Formatting schmormatting, he went out of his way to post one hell of a review and really open his opinions on the game. Cut him some slack boy. could have been phrased better, but it was intended merely as advice, no harm meant. For the future, perhaps Togo could phrase it like “nice review, but I wish there were breaks to make it easier to read”. It appreciates their effort, points out what may be improved, and gives reason as to why.
Like I said, those who know Boss will respect that man and his words. Sure it turns off new people but if they're gonna be put off over formatting than hoo boy are they gonna hate it here. Side note: Mario Oddysey has taken my wife and kids until I finish it...please send help. That game is beautiful but it's so addictive. The music is boppin', the stages are hoppin', and the secrets ain't stoppin'! Every single thing about that game is a love letter to Mario fans.

in the future, please learn to phrase better. its an immediate antagonism and i dont appreciate it, but i thank you for the critique
Oh! Oh! Question for the Boss man! You try out two player yet? I don't want to Google stuff for fear of post game spoiler stuff, but I was curious about your opinions if you did play it. I've been meaning to try it, but I lack a player two.

I've been meaning to try it, but I lack a player two. yes, i did try two player with my mentor. and um......normal mode is broken as hell, and assist mode is very helpful. the active mode for 2P lets the second player control cappy, and cappy is invincible and can tank any projectile, deal damage, and do....other stuff i read but didnt try. its like, the easiest way to beat the boss rush
Good to know that I have an emergency win mode! Time to throw many Mario corpses at boss rush before that however. Much obliged my dude!
