J's Fault / The Partner Has No Mercy
"All has been relatively quiet at the agency since our run in with the tilt case. Our door has been begging for someone to rap their knuckles against the faux wooden exterior. But that's fine, it has given my partner and I enough time to relax and plan out our next move."
The cool winds blow through the open windows of the Narumi Detective Agency. The air dances as it spins a tale of all it has touched, and it recites this story for our very own hard-boiled detective.
Shotaro sat at his desk hunched over a typewriter. It was his typical routine to make note of his daily occurrences and leave them in a small book. Perhaps it was to remember who he used to be when he was just starting out, or perhaps it was little more than shameless self promotion. Either way, he enjoyed his writing and he enjoyed listening to the winds of his city.
"Still nothing big going on out there, huh?"
He sighs softly as he adjusts the hat on his head.
"Well that's a good thing at the end of the day. I wouldn't want the city to cry just for me to have work."
He rises from his chair and walks about his office for a quick stretch.
"Oi, Phillip! What are you up to today?"
A's Complaint / Repeated Disappointment
The winds of the Nexus were chilly tonight. Not a hint of warmth in their gusts. Almost a parallel to our resident detective who sits before his previously trusted typewriter. His eyes dance over the keys and for a moment he reaches out to them, but stops.
"Ah mou! We may have fixed the issue with the tilting...but I don't want to cause that again on accident."
He lets out a lengthy sigh before standing from his chair. The wind picks up and begins its attack on the Narumi Detective Agency. A picture that was once sitting on the coffee table begins to topple before losing balance and falling. Shotaro makes a dive for the picture, catching it as he slides along the floor.
"Oh? It's been awhile since I've looked at this...heh..."
The winds die down as Shotaro looks at the Narumi Detective Agency's family photo. A silent smile sits upon his face as he stands back up and places the frame back on the table.
"We'll be back...Akiko, Terui."
And so begins another night at the Narumi Detective Agency.
The Reappearance of W / The Detective's Fervor
There's a chill in the air as the curtains inside the office flutter to life. Winter seems to be nipping at the heels of Fall with great intensity. However, our hard-boiled detective sits at his desk with a trusty countermeasure...a blanket. With his weapon against Mother Nature, he wages another battle as his fingers fire away words onto his typewriter. Due to the events of the night prior, he felt the need to chronicle his adventures as soon as possible.
"Opting to follow Phillip's lead on an interesting band of characters. A group who performed a stage play in a relatively odd locale was suspect enough to pique my detective senses. With an oar in hand, I followed my partner's directions to find a small creek wherein his canoe was moored. I made quick work of getting the boat untied and hopped in; my next stop, a bizarre forest."
"It felt like it took hours to row silently down the seemingly endless waterway, however my efforts weren't in vain. Around the two hour mark, I entered a heavily wooded portion of the river. The foliage of many willows hanging over the water and proving to be rather difficult to maneuver around. Several disgruntled shouts later and I arrive in a much more clear section of the forest, but I wasn't alone. There amidst the trees was a woman who called out for me. Her name? Ruka."
"The curious woman made her way to me while I came ashore. Her attitude was pleasant and she was quite willing to lend a hand after I explained the situation to her. Moments later, we're back in the canoe and headed down the river again in search of the group. Now, this is where things began getting seemingly treacherous. We finally reached a more open section of river, a lagoon would best descirbe it, and inside this lagoon were odd creatures that were just below the water's surface. Keeping my wits about me, I played an intense match of Red Light Green Light with the creatures. Finally reaching the end of the lagoon, we were greeted with a large cavern that was black as pitch."
"Silently rowing into the cavern, it became immediately apparent that we weren't alone. Ruka responded to the darkness with something rather fantastical, she pulled a blade shaped key (or a key shaped blade) out of thin air and lit it on fire. Our unknown third party wasn't too keen on the sudden light as they dropped a tentacle onto Ruka from above. Slicing it in response only served to enrage the beast further as its tentacles shot out and hoisted the boat clean out of the water. Quickly fastening the Double Driver to my waist, Phillip and I got to work once again as W. A brief transformation later and we began our assault on the monster, eventually Ruka is knocked from the boat but I'm sure she's fine. We managed to knock the beast off the ceiling with Metal Branding and chalked up a victory after dodging the falling creature. With another notch on our belt and more info on the case, we left
Late Morning Consultations
The wind is gentle but strict, as if trying to coerce our hard-boiled detective to finally awaken from his deep slumber. However, the motherly wind does little to move Shotaro as he snoozes lazily in his office chair. His head resting on arms that were little more than a few inches away from his typewriter, which had finished its work the night prior.
"It's only been a few days since our arrival into this, Nexus. However, Phillip and I have already made some memorable acquaintances."
The first was a quiet gentleman, of a rather mysterious demeanor. Adorning himself with headphones as if to keep himself distanced, he was the holder of the most important keyword so far: Nexus."
"The second new face was a young man with lavender hair and a curious aura about him; something cold yet warm. His name is Gamma, a rather nervous man when put on the spot, but a kind heart from what I've seen. He came to warn us of the rowdy neighbors that we'll be seeing from now on."
The wind would pick up this time, and much like an angry mother, there was no avoiding it. Shooting upright and to attention at the sudden roar of wind, Shotaro looks around the room as his heart rate begins to return to resting.
"Eh? What time is it?"
With a quick glance at his watch, his eyes go wide. He quickly runs over to a door covered in hats and begins rapping on it.
"OI! PHILLIP! It's noon, what are you still doing in there!?"
And so starts another day at the Narumi Detective Agency.
Late Night Consultations
Once again, the sound of a typewriter can be heard typing away through the second floor window of Narumi Detective Agency. Our keyboard warrior is none other than the hard-boiled detective, Hidari Shotaro. After adding the last period to his paper, Shotaro would pull it from the machine and place it in his compendium. The cool night breeze is soft and calm, it's as if the world itself couldn't be bothered to move tonight.
"This place is really strange. I walked for hours earlier and I couldn't find anything familiar to me. Ah, mou. No point worrying about that right now."
Shotaro lets out a small sigh before getting up from his chair. He had wandered the urban area of the Nexus for hours just trying to make sense of this world, all to little avail. With a shake of his head, he'd move to the small kitchen area and begin to make a pot of coffee.
"Oi, Phillip! I'm making coffee, do you want some?"
Shotaro calls to his partner as he hits the power on the coffee machine.
Early Morning Consultations
A typewriter can be heard typing away from the second floor of a rather average looking building, Narumi Detective Agency. The wind is calm and quiet, just like the detective who sits before the typewriter. Hidari Shotaro, the most hard-boiled detective this side of the windy city.
"And.....done. Another addition to my story, but more importantly...where am I!? I walk outside and this isn't Futo! So where is it! Akkik-oh, right I haven't seen her around...force of habit I guess."
Just as the wind picked up in intensity, so did our once calm detective. He leaps from his chair and begins pacing around his office.
"Ah, mou! How could Phillip be so calm during all of this?"
The man pauses in the middle of the room and drops his head. With a sigh of defeat, he returns to his desk and sits back down in his chair. No sooner does he calm himself, the wind too would die down.
"No point stressing I guess. That wouldn't be very..."
He runs his right index finger along the brim of his hat.
"...hard-boiled of me."
