Luck Quest
{After receiving a mysterious invitation you find yourself in a shop. According to the invite this is the oddest shop you may ever find. The one and only home of the great space witch Yuuko.} {Yet she is no where to be seen ...} {Having taken a seat by a tiny coffee table you can't help, but notice how ordinary everything looks. For a space witch this Yuuko person seems to have a taste for normal decoration. The only thing really standing out in the tiny, heated room is on the table right in front of you.} {This unusual piece appears to be a board game yet it lacks pieces or dice. A red orb is at the center of it and a plaque on it reads "A Game of Hitsuzen". The orb is currently glowing and you feel urged to touch it.}
"Aw, shit..." Gideon finds himself in here, while surveying bits and bits of the Nexus, "Well, might as well, look at this..." he says as he sees the Red orb on the board. He decides to touch it
*walks in through the front door* Huh...for being an old shop, this place is pretty good looking. And that's a very weird looking board game that will probably come back to bite me if I do anything with it...damn the temptation. *Touches the orb*
{Upon being touched the red orb suddenly envelops the room is a fierce light spectacle. Presenting all sorts of worlds and people at once. Then just as suddenly the light dies out leaving behind an aged sheet on it. The worlds on the sheet read ..} A Game of Hitsuzen Instructions Thank you customer for picking up this fine game of chance of random encounters. All of us at Puffle Industries wish for this game to alleviate your late afternoon boredom and for it to do so you must read the instruction first. Please read as carefully as you can for this game deals with forces past the common understanding. 1. This is a game in which all your actions are based on chance, luck of the draw, and hitsuzen. 2. Once you make an action you cannot change it for it has already become a part of the flow. 3. The game only begins once at least 3 players show up. 4. People are welcome to join at anytime for maximum entertainment. 5. Think carefully for all choices have consequences if lucky enough to be acted upon. Have a safe trip~
{The orb currently senses ...} {2 out of the 3 people needed to start.} {The dice of the unseen force and plans have already been prepared.}
A young, blonde girl sits in the seat of a long, black limosine. The older gentleman driving looks across to the girl and asks M: Are you sure you want to respond to this? G: W... Well, I haven't gotten out in so long... She did send it for me, I at least wanna see what its about. M: With all due respect milady, I should at least accompany you. G: It'll be fine, I just wanna... Well not see... But.... The man nods as they pull up to the shop, parking their vehicle and walking around to the other side M: Very well milady, but you call for me at the first sign of trouble, understand? G: Yes sir.... Satisfied, the elder gentleman opens the door to allow the little girl outside. Her eyes are a startling blue, but.. There almost seems to be a cloud over them. The girl taps her foot on the ground audibly, and seems to have no trouble finding her way inside
{The orb currently senses...} {3 out of the 3 people needed to start.} {Having detected enough players the orb once again glows a brilliant light encompassing the ceiling with various images. These images show glimpses into many worlds and the potential within each one. As these images play out a circular pattern etches itself beneath each person and a grander magic circle forms around the entire room. Each person is now trapped in their respective circle as images of the sun and the moon appear on opposite ends. The magic circle in its entirety begins to rotate and the table at the center of it with the board game falls into a chasm of stars. The chasm grows bigger until it sucks up everything in the room with its own person wind including the players.} {Leaving behind nothing, but an empty room.} {As for the players themselves they continues to fall through a starred chasm. The chasm soon reveals all the known constellations from Aries to Pisces.} Choose one with your hands and fate shall pick from the choices. {A feminine voice states as the various constellations appear around the three as light generated images. The constellations are close enough to touch and as the voice commands it appears that one can touch them.}
Hmm... I'll choose...Pegasus! It was either that, Lyra, or Libra. *Touches Pegasus*
The girl initially reaches out, trying to step beyond the circle, almost as though she hadn't noticed it. She feels the edge of the barrier and... An eyebrow raises. She taps her foot a few times, the sound reverberating off the barrier as well. The girl jumps in surprise at the sudden wind, with little to do to keep herself from being dragged in. The girl's timid voice can be heard as she reaches out in a random direction I... I'm sorry, choose what? I feel like I missed something... The girl randomly reaches out and manages to touch the constellation Orion
{The constellation of Orion has been selected.} {As the choice is made all the signs dissapear into the aether and both players roughly fall on a path of dirt. Around them is a room just like the one they were just in, but this time instead of a table there is a map of the world in front of them. Next to the map lie a box of push pins, markers, and crayons. In front is a tv showing a weatherman forecasting the weather for the rest of the week.} {The feminine voice once again appears with a lyrical choice.} Welcome to the land of Gaea in which you hold the power to shape the world. That map is the key to your temporary ability in this place. Guard it with your lives~ Also this is not a power held to just any so fate will have a say if your actions take effect or not. You may decide all your actions yet at the end the die in my hands speaks softest. Hmmm ... Well I explained enough so take it away players~
(edited by Yuuko)
OOC: Sorry I was missing in action for so long. Something came up and I had to deal with it quickly.
The young girl scratches the back of her head, great, more of that weird stuff. Still, it sounds a little fun. The girl giggles, tapping her foot a few times to make sure. Finally, she walks towards the map and asks E.. Excuse me. I know that someone else is here. Could you tell me what it says? I... Well... The girl blushes a little, and grabs a nearby marker at random, that's the sort of thing official people usually use, rather than childish crayons, and awaits an answer OOC: IN all honesty I thought you were waiting on Gideon
...aww, we only get one constellation? That kinda sucks. But...what do we DO? Do I just say like, "I raise a mountain to the north" and it'll happen? Whatever. As for what the map says...I have no idea, I suck at geography. OOC: same.
Use the tools given to you and make a mark on the world~ {The feminine voice laughs at her own joke.) As for the names on the map ... Well they matter little to the grand scheme of things. After all the two of you are practically a superior power in this place~
Okay...let's make...a mountain...to the north... *Using a crayon, she crudely draws a mountain in the north* And let's give it some snow... *Draws snow onto the mountain*
The girl most certainly wasn't used to thinking of herself as superior, but... All this was some kinda game anyways right? That's what the invitation said anyways. The girl grins and taps her foot a few times before taking the cap off the marker she grabbed at random Um... Well, if you say so. I'll just start drawing. With that, the girl begins to make a crude drawing of some sort of cat-like creature. The art is absolutely terrible, even for someone her age, and ends up all over the place
{The dice rolls in the favor of both players.} {The tv suddenly changes to an emergency broadcast being held by an international news network. A frantic looking news anchor walks on screen and points to the electronic map behind her.) News Anchor: This is not a joke people! A new mountain has just appeared in Greenland and it is currently snowing at the top of it. I repeat! This mountain did not exist an hour ago and now it does! Geologists are currently concerned about the ... {The anchor's voice is cut off as yet another emergency broadcast appears and this time it is a regional network. A short man looks stunned as someone whispers something in his ear and then he loudly coughs.} New Anchor 2: Well I have just heard something astounding people. Something you may not even believe with video footage. (The broadcast is switched to a video taken in China of a strange kind of animal ravaging the streets. It appears cat-like yet is does not resemble any cat breed in existence. The animal is currently wandering about and slashing at random property.) News Anchor 2: We are live in Beijing watching as a new breed of creature now haunts the city. Some say its some sort of vengeful spirit.
S.... Spirit? The girl stops doodling and, failing to make the connection, instead turns towards the screen. Her clouded eyes render her unable to see exactly what's happening, but, stunned, the girl instead moves over to sit near the screen. Am I dreaming?... No.... I'm not, aren't I? The girl turns her head down, still clutching the marker in her hand. She doesn't understand much of what's happening, but its obvious that she's missing out on something
...I regret nothing, Greenland and Iceland should swap names. Now then...hmm...the possibilities...I think my first order of business is to get rid of all those tabloid magazines. But how to do it? Hmm...oh well, may as well do something stupid. *Draws bunny ears on the mountain* I wonder how this'll play out. Still, who knew that drawing things on maps would make things appear in the world? But what did that person mean when she said to protect the map with our lives?
{The cat-like creature continues to wander about on screen until it grows bored of the screaming people around it. With a single claw it proceeds to rip a hole in the middle of the very street and leaps into it. The tv follows it's path and switches to a different regional news network. This time the creature wanders a beach as startled tourists begin to run screaming. The creature itself is unaffected by the change and topples a wandering ice cream cart with it's massive paws.} News Anchor 3: A strange creature has just appeared by the waves of Portugal! Some scientist already theorizing that it is some biological experiment gone wrong. More will be posted as the creature moves about. {Meanwhile, a new mountain in Greenland has just grown fluffy, white bunny ears. The ears are massive reaching into the heavens themselves and they manage to topple a wandering news chopper out of the sky. The tv itself returns to the first news station and the lady anchor from before now appears to be terrified.} News Anchor 1: My word a-are you people seeing this ...? {The lady takes a moment to rub her eyes, but the ears are still there.} New Anchor 1: A mountain has actually grows ears!
Overhearing the news, the lady said something about how they were messing with the world, right? Maybe if.... The young girl taps her foot a few times, before walking over to the map and feeling it for a moment Ok... Lets see if I can find it... The girl attempts to remember the place where she drew the weird cat-thing and, just in case, tries to scribble it out with her marker M.... Maybe that'll work?
...hmm...well, guess I should escalate things a bit more... *Draws wings and a face on the mountain* This... could possibly end badly, but I want to see what happens.
{Black fumes suddenly cover the cat-like creature and worsen as seconds progress. It gets to the point in which the creature is unable to be seen, but a series of mangled roars can be heard. The video continues to play from a distance as the creature is suffocated to death. The actual act can't be seen from the fumes yet everyone can tell what occurred as the camera zooms in on a feline body with caved in chest.} New Anchor 3: ...The creature just died. WE will try to find out how as quickly as we can. {A group of geologists climb up a newly created mountain in Greenland only to find themselves facing a face and two flapping wings. The turbulent breeze from the wings quickly shake the geologists off the mountain to certain death below. Even the news anchor on tv has no idea how to respond to this new scenario.} {A knock can suddenly be heard on the screen door ...} Let us in or we will shoot!
...oh shit. Welp, when all else fails, get rid of the evidence. *Pulls a lighter out and grabs the map* Come in and I'll burn us all! Wait, how did you guys even find me so quickly!? I'm pretty damn sure I wasn't being obvious in where I was!
(Suddenly, a 7'3 snake centipede hybrid is there)...ayyy
The young girl hardly knows what to do. She starts breathing heavily, d.. Did she mess something up? N.. No M... My parents always said the police are here to help... S... So... The girl steadily makes her way to the screen door, visibly shaking, the knocking made it easy to tell where the door is. Once she gets there, Risako would feel the door for the handle, and slowly begin to open it I... I'm sorry. C... Can any of you tell me what's going on? I ust.... I just keep hearing all these weird things... Is she a criminal?
Alrighty... What the fuck isssss going on?
I swear, I've done absolutely nothing criminal like for like...uhh...five months! You can't prove anything!
I've been ta jail 9 timesssss.....ssssssooo
(edited by Reperzel)
{A group of men in military uniform shove their way in after Risako opens the door and quickly occupy the space. Raising their guns toward the players they carefully move to the map with a certain wonder in their eyes. One of the men splits from the group and kneels down in awe.} Cadet: So this is what shaped earth ... (The cadet almost touches the map, but is stopped by the ironclad palm of his superior.) Superior: Your fool are you trying to destroy Sweden!
oh...so thats what the Map does...(he casually touches Korea) FUCK YOU KOREA!
...so I'm not in trouble? Because I just found it sitting here. I haven't done anything wrong so far besides make a crazy mountain which I can probably get rid of so...if you guys are going to take it, promise me you'll change the names of Greenland and Iceland. Seriously, the two have the exact opposite names.
With all the stress going on, the young girl starts crying. She just came to play a game, and now there are all these weird guys rushing in, and yelling about fictional countries, and C... Can I go home now? The girl would then sit down on the floor, crossing her legs like a proper lady. I just wanted to play a game, and now... there are all these weird guys, and breaking things and.... The girl doesn't get much further before going back to crying. She never asked for any of this
{Fate has heard the command of the player and decided to answer it} {Before the soldiers can respond to Star a series of magic circles appear beneath opening up the aether once again. The players fall through the stars until a wide portal opens and sucks them in.} {They promptly land and bounce a bit on two velvet seats. In front of them is a nice granite table with a silver briefcase on top. Around them is a swanky restaurant with all sorts of people dinning on various luxury foods. A jazz band at the back of the place plays a long and drawn tune as servers with traditional clothing wander about the establishment.} {A pretty convoluted looking menu sits in the hands of the players.} {The menu reads.} Welcome to che espionage~ The best place for food and assassinations at a reasonable price.
...huh...well this isn't what I was expecting... what's in the briefcase anyway? *Goes to open it up*
Risako bounces on the seat a little, listening to the conversation of passerby, this is more the kinda thing she's used to. Though its a little uncomfortable not having anyone here... The girl just waits for a moment, unable to read the menu, she simply listens in to the things around her
{Star finds upon opening the briefcase that it is filled to the brim with stacked up bills of various nationalities. A note at the center of the monetary sea with a tiny chopstick next to it.} The Note Enjoy your date sweeties~ Heard this guy was a real "killer"~ {There is a heart drawn at the end of the last sentence.} {Listening to the conversation around Risako is able to learn that the people in this place are of the deadly nature. She hears as they talk about various ways to chop up a human being or the expert arts of seduction while taking a bite of lobster. One person in particular has a interesting way of using fire to get rid of a body. Either this is a cult of people obsessed with death or a location for assassins to gather.}
...I don't get it. But, I might as well order something... *Looks at her menu*
Risako grows alarmed at all this talk of murders, it kinda sounded like a cult her parents joined for a bit, all their talk of people dying. The girl curls up into a ball, trying to block it out. S.. Surely this was an exception right? Most people are much nicer than this
{Peering over the menu Star finds an assortment of the finest dishes from all over the world. However, what makes it unusual are the many forms of death listed next to each dish. So with every fillet mignon there is a tag next to it saying "comes with hanging, public execution, poisoning, etc.} {As the players both occupy themselves with a task they fail to notice the ceiling above them open. A thin rope falls down from the ceiling and a middle aged man climbs down from it to the table. Once he arrives on the seat her tugs the rope pulling it down and the ceiling panel itself automatically shuts.} So who is the lucky lady I get to .... {The man's words cut off once he notices the ages of the two players in from of him. Nervously pointing at the two he asks.} None of you happen to be spacey witchy 26 right? ...Right?
Uhh...I think you have the wrong table?
The young girl looks up at the sound of the other person's feet hitting the ground. He might notice her blue eyes almost seem.. Clouded, a thin veil of white over them. The girl begins shaking, and mutters, barely audibly N.... No... I... I don't even know who that is... I just.. I got this invite... And... And then we went to this room with a big paper where all these guys started yelling and.... She almost looks ready to cry again, but stops herself from going further. Overall this is probably the second worst day of her life so far
Great got stood up again ... {The man sighs with annoyance and pats Risako on the head as a distraction. His eye slowly move over to both girls.} So how much are you getting paid for being here and who is the employer? Don't look old enough to be seducing yet so what kind of assassins too. {He winks} I'll reveal secrets if you do.}
I mainly use explosives. I think my favorite way to kill someone is to detonate a bomb while they're on the toilet. It's absolutely hilarious, and it keeps plumbers in a job. As for who employed us, I'm not sure. They didn't leave a name, number, nothing. As for how much, that's in the briefcase.
Risako shrinks a little at the stranger's touch, but doesn't move much otherwise. The poor, stuttering girl, well out of her element quietly says I.... I... I don't know... I just ended up here.... I'm not... I'd never hurt anyone... The young girl mutters something under her breath, before realizing how quiet she was. Risako clears her throat and speaks a little louder I... I think I'm missing something here. Overhearing Star's casual conversation, Risako's eyes go wide. Great, she's in the same room as a bunch of psychopaths. Risako starts taking deep breaths, just don't do anything suspicious and it'll probably be fine
{The man's eyes widen at what Star says and he actually looks to be in awe of her.} I have never heard of something so stupid yet bold. You must be getting paid a lot for that talent. {He checks the briefcase to confirm and it is true that Star has quite a bit of money to her name now.} Well now I feel a bit outclassed with you lot. {The man laughs and slightly turns to face Risako.} So I take it this is your hostage right? When do you plan to kill her? {He smiles.} I do know of a nice cliff where the police will never find the body.
Oh, don't worry, she's from a rich family. I said I'd take her out, but I never said where. Heheheheh. I'll be making quite the pretty penny from her. Besides, it's not like she'll run away, when she's dealing with someone who could kill her in an instant. Right? *Star looks at Risako with a look that says "I'm totally bullshiting just play along everything will be fine"*
Risako makes a nervous little groaning sound and curls up into a ball. Hostage? This wasn't in the invite. Stupid... First time she goes out and someone's taking advantage of her. At that moment, Risako regrets ever coming to the shop Star's talking only makes her more nervous. Unfortunately she doesn't catch Star's reassuring look, though Star may notice the faint clouding in the girl's eyes. Risako simply curls up defensively, hoping for it to be over soon
Perhaps your right. {The man slowly stands up from the velvet booth, but keeps a hand on as he leans from his upright position.} So mind telling me something. Why are you taking some time in killing her? She wouldn't be a friend right? {His eyes take on a cunning glint as he eyes up the briefcase across the table. Maybe if Star couldn't complete the job he could just complete it for her. Share the rewards after.}
Oh, are you thinking about killing her? I wouldn't do that if I were you. I've got to deliver her to my employer. They want to kill her for themselves, you see. It's a personal grudge kinda deal. This is just the advance I get in taking her. I thought she might want a last meal before dieing, so I brought her here with me. Call it a bit of pity, call it generosity, I personally like to call it being rich.
Uncomfortable hostage noises
{The man finally stands straight and fixes up his tie.} All right I can respect that. {He holds out his hand to Star.} Pleased to meet you the name is Al Capone. Now don't you forget about it hun.
Star Sakura, it's a pleasure. *Shakes his hand*
Risako looks up for a moment, still obviously uncomfortable... She opens her mouth briefly, but thinks better of saying anything. Instead going back into her little ball
{With the handshake as a trigger fate decides to end the session and once again reveals it's void. The two girls fall through it, but instead of a fall through space they instantly land in the same room they started in. No sign of a map or tv anywhere and the time space witch herself waits by the sliding doors.} So how was the gaming session ladies? {Yuuko takes a long blow from her pipe and then forms a classic circle with the smoke.} Did you get a nice surprise today?
I think I liked it. Also, I was totally lying to Al Capone. I'm not a killer. Though I should probably look into the market for assassins, It'd be great to have some hired help in taking the annoying things that try to threaten the world down.
Risako lands... Less than gracefully, the poor girl stumbling before falling on her face. Risako murmurs something that's muffled by the floor, before slowly getting up, rubbing her head. Still shaken, Risako quietly asks I.... I'm not a hostage, right? That's not what this is about?
Nope! Was totally just trying to make sure you wouldn't be out of place so we'd both die. I make a convincing assassin though. Maybe I should be an assassin? Nah, wouldn't work. Too much work.
{Yuuko smiles at the two as she rests against a wall.} Well it certainly looks like my game worked. Though for some it appears to have been a difficult experience ... {She lazily tosses a coupon book at the two.} For being my willing test subject of the evening the two of you now get deals on my marvelous shop. Once I open it to the public feel free to have first pick on all my space spanning wares. Now go enjoy the rest of your evening~ {With the final bit said she leaves for her room and the front doors of the shop open. It is now night outside to the surprise of everyone since the game didn't feel that long.}
...all things considered, that was a very fun experience. I'd definitely play that game again. Wait...oh, now I remember you! You were at that circus thing, and the thing with the cult and stuff. I honestly forgot about that. Well, I'll be going now. *Walks out the door like a normal person*
Risako breathes a sigh of relief. Now standing still. She taps her foot a few times and, now much less nervous, her voice sounds almost cheerful You're way too good at it. I... Its a little scary. The coupon book hits Risako directly in the chest, the girl reflexively catches it before the book falls to the ground. Well, money's never been a problem, but it wouldn't hurt to have as a reminder. The girl brings the book outside, where the older gentleman is still waiting. The two briefly converse as Risako gets into the vehicle M: I take it you had a good time? You have a lovely souvenier Risako: Y... I.. It was ok. A little scary at times though... And.... I can't help but feel I missed some of it. M: Its only natural, all things considered. Don't worry about it madame, you're perfect just the way you are. Risako: Y.... Yeah...
