Complex Game ; Simple Game
This story is a continuation. The following names have been taken. Malloryn Yoshiko Katsuo Alice Ryoma Masamune Taiyuki Eito Tatsuya Hazama Yuuki Seta Morikazu Rei Marcus Kotori Makoto The registry has no blank lines.
Their destination was only a short walk away from where they had been left. Down the road, and around the corner, there lied the first Hive. According to the text sent by Contributor, the entrance could be found in the alley between a convenience store and a video store. It was unmistakable. Between these two buildings, the entrance was concealed in shadow, but the path outwards was marked by cracks. The road they now stood on, part of the buildings surrounding the entrance, even part of the sky above the ally, have appeared to have been cracked open, and underneath it all was a strange texture. One could step on it as though it was simply concrete, but the appearance of the ground they stood on resembled mixture of black and red smoke. To make things worse for those involved, the area was unpleasantly hot, as the cracks that separated the Hive from the rest of the world released steam at a steady rate. Next to the entrance was an open briefcase, the inside lined with standard combat knives, one for everyone who arrived. A sign was placed next to it, the writing was neat and perfect, as thought it had been typed, not written. Though the ink was dripping enough to show it had indeed been handwritten.
”A gift” – Contributor”
Seta would quickly walk ahead to pick uo a knife before backing away. He was still dizzy from his warped vision but it was starting to clear up a bit as he adjusted to his peculiar eyes. He would look at the knife and suddenly his mind would be clouded with all the possibilities of what he could do with it. He would struggle for a moment more closing his eyes and grabbing his head. A headache began forming from the strain of information being transmitted into his head. "Is this all we get to go in...?" He would look at everyone else and all their amazing abilities. Why were they given power while all he got was a headache? He didn't understand, but rather than filling him with rage it filled him with fear. How would he possibly fight with such a cursed ability? "I'm so screwed...dammit..."
Marcus follows Seta, tugging at the neck of his shirt as he goes. The heat is unpleasant, and certainly not what he expected, but such annoyances are trivial in the end. Silently, Marcus grabs two of the knives, sure there’s one for everyone, but Taiyuki and Makoto certainly don’t need them. Looks like it’s about time to begin our mission, yes? Marcus slides his pocket knife out of one of the twin dagger cases that make up his shell, closing the thing before putting it in his pocket. Now that he has two real weapons, thanks to their little friend, he slides them both into the sheathes, which grip tightly around the blades. Marcus glances over to Seta With that sort of attitude, yes, I don’t expect you to last the first mission. *sigh*. I don’t plan on going first, so stay behind me and you’ll probably be fine. Of course, Marcus planned to be near the middle, which would put Seta at the back of the group, a badspot to be in case of an ambush, but he may as well act friendly for now. The game has hardly started after all. Marcus glances back at Alice, she’s been trying to get a read on people like he has recently, likely to be his main competition if it comes to that.

Morikazu would have liked... a... more impressive weapon, but these knives weren't bad at all. Grabbing one with his right hand, he turns his attention back to their destination. Gonna be real freakin' hot in there... Just in case, he takes off his jacket and ties the arms around his waist. He then taps his foot as he waits for the others to get ready. He'll probably end up being one of the guys in the front, partly 'cause he'll be able to fare better from an attack than that Seta guy.
Taiyuki follows the directions from the Contributor through his flip phone, old fashioned, just how he likes it. As for the scenery he pays little mind to it all, more worried about the intense heat as he breaths heavily, the shell he had wasn't exactly meant to have good air flow, hard to get ventilation with a layer of acid in between. When he arrives he takes a look at the briefcase and takes a knife, spinning it once around his hand before putting it away in his vest and taking a hold of his mask I was hoping we didn't have to deal with something like this. Me and fire aren't on the best of terms. But a job is a job, let's get rolling as soon as possible. I don't wanna die of heat stroke before we even see a Slasher. If anyone needs my knife by the way you can take it. I'll mostly be punching anyways, I can make use of my acid that way. Obviously that means I'll be in the front. Taiyuki then nods after saying his words, taking his place next to the entrance and awaiting the rest of the people to come, no use going in alone just yet.
Seta would focus back in on the others, specifically Taiyuki and his offer for the knife. He wasn't sure exactly what he'd do with a second knife but he was unarmed otherwise without even some amazingly offensive power to help him. "I guess I'll take you up on that offer. Not like I'll need a free hand for much in a fight..." He would take Taiyuki's knife from the case as well. Now with two knives he felt a little better even smiling a bit albeit nervously. He would finally look back to Marcus not sure what to make of his offer. He wasn't exactly very trusting of anyone here. he assumed most of them are just in it for themselves. He did remember that one of them introduced themselves as a detective. He could probably get that one to help him out if he needed. He was just an ordinary student before this, after all, one on the honors roll as well. "Yeah, sure...I'd prefer to just stand wherever I'm comfortable though. It's hard for me to even see right now..."
Rei walks through the door and follows the directions on his smartphone...which somehow stayed within his possession and takes one look at what Contributor said was the hive when he arrived. "...This is the hive..?" he says with slight uncertainty, he was expecting it to be like an actual hive, but he just shrugs it off...it's just the way things are... He sees the briefcase that is set on the ground, open with knives in it. Seeing from the note that it is of means to fight against the slashers, he takes one silently and examines it. "Looks like it's still usable anyway..." he says, though he would have prefered a longer ranged weapon like a sword or a gun, this will most likely keep him from perishing in battle. He thought this as he fumbled the knife into his pocket
Honoka followed the directions he was sent. He watched as Marcus grabbed two knives, and smirked. Oh, it's first come first served? Well, don't mind if I do. He made it a point to take two knives as well. He then turned to look at the phenomenon that was referred to as a hive. So...we're going in there? Welp, dibs on not going first. I'll let someone else be the meat shield, thank you very much.
Katsuo followed the directions he was given. He sighs at the fact that people are taking multiple knives. Ah, I see, you seem to not efficiently be able to use a knife with your abilities. He uses his ability to bring the knife out of the briefcase, he grabs it out of the air. I sure as hell ain't going first though, I'm not ready to die immediately.
As the group neared the Hive, Masamune's eyes widened as to the scale and aesthetic of the edifice before them. He did sigh with a hint of malice mixed in at his own comrades' stupidity. Leading these imbeciles? Perhaps he had his work more than cut out for him. "It seems the good detective and our friend the gamer have volunteered to go first. One shouldn't deprive the group of essential tools and play the fiddle as our shaky alliance collapses beneath the weight of their misdeeds. Given how they have chosen to retrieve more than is necessary for them without bothering to even ask if such equipment would benefit the group as a whole is shocking... and saddening. I myself shall not avail myself of a combat implement, both in good grace, and to accommodate for those who would suffer from our "comrades'" greed." He would pick up the briefcase and be certain to hand out knives one at a time. If there were any left, he'd offer them to the much weaker members.
Hearing Seta take up his knife, Taiyuki drops his back into the case and cracks his knuckles, pressing his fists together in his hands and clinking together. Enjoy yourself kid. Who knows, might be the last time you get to see this world.
Ryoma grins at the feel of heat hitting his body. In a strange way, the steam filled Hive was no different than the shattered memories he had of his old career. He knew how to cope with working in a very warm environment, so surely he could manage to work mostly efficiently here. However, there were more pressing matters at hand. He too saw the greedy pair reach for a second knife each and just shook his head in response. He knew that some people wouldn't need them, but taking away the opportunity without talking about it? That didn't inspire any confidence. Do not mind if I do. He smiles as he notices Masamune handing out the remaining knives. He takes it in his prosthetic hand and gets a feel for it before sliding it into his apron's pouch. Thank you, Mister Dan! Ryoma takes a deep breath as he approaches the entrance. His heart was beating ridiculously fast and it took everything in his power to calm his nerves. After a few moments he nods and stares at the entrance with a fire in his eyes.
Alice, despite not having a phone, kept up with the group as they began to transition over to the location of the hive. She would have been interested in probing around a bit more, especially since she kind of left Makoto hanging, but that'd have to wait for now. On the bright side, she'd now get to see her new confidants in action. "So uh... I guess this is it then. It's probably too much to ask but don't die if you can help it." Waiting for her turn, she'd step in front of Dan and look up at him. This would be the part where she would start messing around with him using her strings but they'd instead grab whichever knife he offered her while she kept her gaze on the game developer. "Are you the knife master? Should I be thanking you for this or something? I'm sure there's a more suitable knife master among us but whatever." The strings place the knife in her free hand then disappear. With her new weapon, the first thing she'd do is hold it within her shell hand and start poking at her original hand with the tip of it. She'd be sure to be gentle enough as not to cause an injury, merely doing it for the sake of curiosity. She actually seems quite fond of it but might be a little too excited to use it as she'd then put the knife back in her free, original hand, have the strings rise up from the black bands on her shell hand, and then begin poking at them as if testing their durability.
Eito casually walks into the alley, his eyes glued to his black smartphone for a time, searching for any of it's old functions. Finding nothing, he sighs, puts it back in his pocket and then stares out into the group with an unemotional stare. "This...Has been quite the adventure so far, yet we haven't even really started. I'm interested in seeing how far a group as dysfunctional as us will go." Smiling genuinely, the teenager teleports in front of the briefcase and grabs a knife. It was an unecessary motion but Eito found he quite enjoyed the feel of it, not to mention that he'd have to get used to it too. "Knives, huh? Pretty boring but whatever gets us through this, I guess..." Pocketing the weapon, Eito walks over to Taiyuki, waving with a smile. It was obviously fake, if somewhat mocking. "So, are you ready for this fight, pal?"
Makoto walks up to where the group was gathering. She was wondering how an operation with them all would go. She laughs to herself thinking about how it could go wrong if some of these people got into a fight, but then stopped when she realized she could die, again that is. She sighed as she walked up to the group Well, it seems we are going to get down to business now! I look forward to working with you all during this operation and hope it is a success. She quickly chuckles to herself again looking at the group. Makoto then takes off her hoodie which was causing her to get even more hot due to the heat surrounding them. She then looks at the cracks and the area around them. It surely was different then some of the things she has seen before. She then looks over to Dan who was holding up the breifcase. She decided she didn't really need a knife and walked past him to lean against a wall Knives were never my personal style, don't like em, specially when they are used against me. I prefer beating stuff up with my fists. She cracks her knuckles then sticks her hands into her pockets Though if there are any left, if people decide not to take them of course, I'll have one for some other options in a fight. Makoto closes her eyes and yawns Well, I'll be waiting till we are all ready to go.
{Malloryn, being one of the last few to appear, tries not to speak directly to everyone, as that'd just make herself look as if she was attention seeking...it'd make her seem like her older brother. If only this wasn't reality.} [Though, she really doesn't have much time to be day-dreaming, as this heat is being very pestering for her tastes. She fans herself with her hand, sighing,] "As if the atmosphere wasn't enough, I also have to deal with a crowd. They don't seem to really enjoy one another either." [she uttered under her breath before looking at Dan.] [Being one that seems not to have much to work with in the arts of self-defense, she walks up to Dan,] "Oh, contributing to us? Why, thank you very much! That's very considerate of you." [she says to him as she takes a knife and walks towards the wall, waiting for further instructions.] {Something inside her tells her that she should interact with the others more, but instead, it just induces a headache when she stays with herself. She strokes her hair and looks to the side before looking at everybody else once more.}

Takeno examines the briefcase, scratching the back of her neck. She picks up the knife, not seeming to know what to do with it initially, but she wasn't complaining. She looked for a spot on her belt to slide it into, her breathing flat out stopped considering she didn't really need to do so regularly. She made sure to stay towards the back of the group. Her ability certainly isn't something that helps her be more active in combat. In fact she couldn't really think of anything she'd be useful for. There's no use in wallowing around in those thoughts, however. "How the hell did we get ourselves in this position... I'll be ready whenever everyone else is."
Marcus sighs and stretches, he had aimed to be a little stealthier than that, but considering the postition of his shell, its not a surprise it could be easily seen. Of course, as predicted there were more than enough people who didn't need one, but there's no reason to directly go against Dan at the moment. The young man shrugs Yeah, sure, whatever. You really wanna deny the guy whose only skill is knife-throwing a spare weapon then throw him up front, go ahead. Rest assured it won't just be my funeral His little snark out of the way, Marcus would grin and step just ahead of the group, just following orders after all
Do you insist on calling me pal? I thought I told you we weren't friends. Sighing Taiyuki looks up and makes eye contact with Eito, a cross expression on his face as he tries to make out what Eito is thinking before responding to the question Looking forward to the fight? Not especially. Typically I can focus on the enemy in front of me and I can count on a shotgun. Not here. Here I have to focus on the enemy in front, as well as a potential enemy behind. All I've got now is this Shell, not exactly sure how to use it but I'm sure it's effective. Does that answer your question?
Tatsuya just sighs, looking over various bullets curiously. He's got 6 each of, speed boosters, strength, toughness, elephant tranquilizer. Along with the 24 normal shots he'd had on him before. Plus six in the chamber that should burst into flames when they strike. In the time they spent bickering, he's gotten ready... Downside though is with them in pockets, he's gotta read the label before loading. He looks over to Dan curiously, that knife would be nice... But he'll make do. "Keep the last knife Dan-san, I'll just stick to my gun and fists for now since some people feel entitled to extra." That said and done, he'd casually walk into the place with his gun pointing forward, head darting about to check all his sides and even the celling as he takes place in front of the door, clearly aiming to stay at the front of the group.
Eito chuckles, his smile becoming somewhat genuine as he stares up at the Yakuza and leans back. "Too late for that, buddy. You're stuck with me now!" The teenager then walks on ahead, following Tatsuya while talking to Taiyuki. "Maybe you should relax a bit, take it easy in general, you know? Nobody's gonna attack anyone else any time soon, so why worry about it when we have bigger problems?" That was Eito's logic, anyway. If he would attack anyone, he'd wait for them to be weak or injured, so this or any time soon would be quite an unfortunate hour to try. "Either way, enough chit-chat. Let's go in."
Rei leans on the wall near the door, as he observes everyone... It's like what Tatsuya said, there were too many differences between everyone for someone to find the common ground to become a leader.... Though most people tended to get along pretty fine, though with...some exceptions...That kid and the yakuza guy are sure arguring out alot... Not minding them at the moment, as soon as he saw Tatsuya walk through the door, he had a sudden urge to follow. He then slipped through the door just as it was closing behind Tatsuya. At least, if anything, Tatsuya won't be running head first into suicide if he just went there alone...

Taiyuki places 2 fingers on his forehead and presses down, taking a deep breath, Eito was getting on his nerves in a strange way. Nevertheless the group had to move on. Taking his place behind Eito he places on his mask as it clicks into place, his shell taking up almost all of his face, save for his ears and a bit of his forehead. Respirator in full effect as deep breaths could be heard Yeah yeah... I'll watch your back and you watch mine. I just hope you don't teleport a blade into it. "Pal". Relax a bit? Now? I wish. To put it bluntly nobody here I can trust with my life. You just keep up that mentality when ol Pinky Knives over there cuts you a new mouth and we'll see who's talking.
Hey, we got mosta the people here at least, right? Morikazu points his knife at the sweltering entrance. Let's get goin'. Without much other action or chatter, he begins walking inside, making a mental note of where everyone is.
Marcus sighs, watching Tatsuya head through the door. Fair enough, they’ve wasted enough time standing around. Without further word, Marcus follows the others inside, it’s finally about time to really see what they’re up against in here
Seeing all the knives distributed to those who needed them, Dan kept the last knife to himself, storing it into a slot on his belt. He followed shortly after Tatsuya, after all it was quite unorthodox for the leader to be lacking behind. "I want eyes searching every possible point of attack, while I may be lacking in combat training, my time as CEO served to at least give me some insight into tactics. One of our games of course. If you have confidence in yourself stay to the front of the back of the group, I want the weaker or more frightened people in the middle. I would like to avoid any unnecessary deaths."
She shrugs and trots through the door without much hesitation, her eyes darting around to examine everyone in the group, seeming to have only gazed upon each person for a fraction of a second, and yet it was as if she'd seen every detail. Take smirked, her previously paranoid face almost seeming to disappear entirely. This group was definitely something special, she could see it on them. With such a colorful cast, maybe I don't have to worry so much. She pondered, taking her last step through the doorway.
{Seeing as how everyone else is now going through the door, once again, she tries not to be left behind, as it's better when you're not lonely. Even when there are so many new faces, they all seem familiar for some reason.} {The many surprises keep coming when she's with this group; it's a bit, entertaining...for the most part. Surely they can all get along sometime, but for now, it's just a nice display of morality.} [As she takes her last steps to the door, she turns around, waves at her direction, before looking at the sky.] "Hope that we all stay alive." [She whispers to herself, her eyes getting a bit watery.] {She sighs, flipping her hair as she turns back to the door, finally going through it, staying behind the group like Dan instructed them to. As she treads with them, she clasps her hands together.} ("I pray, that we all will make it...out of this dreaded place...I'm sure you'll help us?...right?")
Things are finally coming to a boil then. Let us be off. The man smiles softly in what is likely a vain attempt to inspire confidence in his "comrades". However, it would mostly be to steady his own nerves as he makes his way inside the Hive. He quickens his pace to join the vanguard as he allows his prosthetic limb to spin his blade around; adjusting himself to the feel.
Katsuo sighs and cracks his knuckles. Alright, I'm ready to get goin' now. He did the knuckle cracking to make himself seem like he's tough like the guys he sells his guns to, in reality he's following slowly behind everyone else as he enters; mainly in an attempt to not suffer large amounts of damage.
Honoka shrugged, patting Dan on the shoulder. It probably looked reassuring, but given the context it was almost certainly sarcastic in nature. Your ears working dear leader? I said I would rather not lead, tsk tsk. Do try to heed the words of your subordinates, else you be seen less as someone we should respect, and more a fool who thinks he's earned it. 'Kay~? He followed the others inside, a little stride in his step. He almost looked like a child. ...Say, now that I think about it. I don't think us all fighting as a mob of fifteen is a good idea in the slightest. I'd hate for one of the losers here to slack off and sit pretty while we're all fighting. Honoka turns to Dan, grinning. Whaddaya say, dear leader-san? Why don't we take on the enemies in groups of...three for the sake of being even. If things get dicey, backup can step in, but this way we can get a clear grasp of what everyone can do, and everyone will earn their keep this way too! I think it's just perfect.
(edited by DetectiveHonoka)
Masamune dusted off the shoulder Honoka patted with disdain. "Subordinate...? Funny, I don't recall ever deeming you worthy of being my subordinate. Do try to phrase your words with some tact, else you be seen less as someone who should survive, and more a snake prowling for his next meal. ''Kay'? Loath as I am to give one of your type credit, your idea holds some merit. Perhaps it would be more fortuitous to gauge the current abilities of our group, and then split them off accordingly. I'd find it bothersome to have our weaker companions being relegated to the front line, while those of us who can easily defeat our enemies standing idly by. Other than that, I must agree. The havoc caused by each and every one of us attempting to overwhelm a single target would greatly mitigate our chances of success."
Makoto watches as the group starts walking into the hive. She pushes off the wall as she starts to stretch Well, it seems we're getting started! Time to show those Slashers what we can, possibly, do! She cracks her fingers as she follows the rest into the hive. She looks at the group one final time to analyze them all. Its not that she didn't think they were all that bad, but she didn't trust them too greatly. Especially Taiyuki. She had her eyes on him, she wante dto be careful. Other than that, all though some of them may be suspicious, she had to work with them Lets get this done and over with, shall we?
Alice would continue to play with her knife until the group began mobilizing. It'd take her a moment to notice but she'd eventually get moving with them. She walked a little quicker in order to catch up, specifically looking for either of her three "teammates." She'd first walk up beside Marcus. "Try not to disappoint, and remember who your team consists of. The mean detective guy and the fist girl so be sure to lean on them for help, just don't expect detective guy to be nice about it." Having said what she wanted to say, she'd move away from Marcus and get beside Makoto. After speaking with her it'd be clear that Alice is intent on keeping her team somewhat organized since this is to be the first battle and everyone is still unfamiliar with each other as well as themselves to an extent. "Hey fist girl, make sure you help out game kid over there as well as Mr. Flappy-Gums, they're part of the team too. I don't think I'm asking too much by asking us to not be idiots and work together. Thanks." When referring to "Mr. Flappy-Gums," she'd point to Honoka, figuring this description might not have been as clear. With that, Alice would step away from Makoto now, her messages delivered to all but Honoka. While he was busy chatting it up she narrowed her eyes at him, actually showing some annoyance with how he's already making a name for himself. If the group had yet to step inside by this point, she'd step inside now.
Finally with everyone else entering Seta would enter last. He would have a bit of trouble finding the entrance at first as he saw others standing in his way for a while seeing the possibilities of people who might have entered. These vision would continue for a while before his vision finally showed him the possibility of no one entering for a moment that he would take as a sign to finally go in. Staying behind the group with his strange eyes he would sigh in annoyance. His powers were only a hindrance to him. He'd wonder why he even would be using these fake eyes but truth be told he had, had trouble even trying to remove them so he had opted to try to keep them in. He grasped both the knives he carried in his pocket preparing in case he really did need to defend himself from the back of the group. He was scared in all honesty. A situation like this was something he would never have anticipated. He frightened him to think of the possibility of fighting. He had never even been in a fight at school as he had always focused on his studies. He parents were obsessed with his success unlike his lazy younger brother. They let him get away with whatever he wanted but he...he always had to be the perfect one. He almost wondered how his brother was now that his parent didn't know he existed. This also made him think about his lost scholarship. He almost felt he should be disappointed or anxious over this but he felt strangely free not having to worry about such things. He didn't exist after all so it was no longer his concern. Finally, coming back to reality he would focus on the task at hand.
The group of Victims made their way into the darkness, and as they took several steps in, several loud clanging noises could be heard. After a moment, the darkness faded away, letting the group see their current location. The interior of the Hive was dimly lit, though no source of light could be seen. The Hive simply looked like an alleyway at first glance, the path extending far forwards, but the end was obscured by the dark. Behind the group, a metal fence had suddenly appeared barring their exit. It seems this fence and its construction is what made the loud noises. Though the place did not look special in any way upon first glance, what with the concrete ground and brick walls, the walls did have something unusual. Hanging from the brick walls were a large number of white bumps with various designs etched into them. An odd detail of the surroundings, but with only a few steps in… One of the white objects fell from the wall and slid around on the floor a few yards from the group. Shadows took form beneath it, and rose from the ground, taking shape. Within a few moments, a single shadowy figure stood before them. The figure was humanoid in shape, but short, hunched over. Groaning noises could be heard from behind the blank white mask it now wore. As it turns towards the Victims, it’s hands raise and it extends sharp nails from its long slender fingers as it slowly makes its way towards the Victims. A Mindless Ghoul has made an appearance.
Even from the back of the group Seta would seem to back away slightly from the shadowy figure. It was like a monster to him. Something he had never seen appearing before him. He would grip both knives more tightly trying to gain some protection in case the monster approached him directly. Now for once focusing on one thing specifically the true power of his eyes would begin triggering. He would be able to gain insight into the Mindless Ghouls exact actions allowing him to follow it's accurately.
Seta's [Flow of Causality] gives him insight into the Mindless Ghouls potential actions. If given the chance, the Ghoul plans to edge closer, and strike. In both potential outcomes, the Ghoul will lunge toward its target, it's claws aimed towards the chest. The target however, could potentially be either [Masamune Dan] or [Tatsuya Suou].
Seta after seeing the results isn't sure if he should actually warn them but decides it might be worth it. He isn't even sure why he decides to help them but he almost feels like perhaps it's his duty. "Uh, businessman or detective! Keep your guard up! That thing is aiming for your chest!"
A fight already? It was gonna happen eventuall, I guess! Morikazu grips his knife and activates his [Shell]'s ability. He can't feel the knife in his hand much, and Seta's shouting is muffled like he has some cotton in his ears, but at least he'll feel little pain now. He dashes at the Mindless Ghoul from the left and swings the knife at its arm.
(edited by Morikazu-Matsushita)
Masamune makes some attempt to roll out of the way, assuming he gets away with it. He depresses the two buttons on his belt. Before he does so, he quickly yells to Tatsuya. "Mr. Suou, watch out!" Masamune's [Swift Justice] is activated, preventing any further communication until he deactivates it. His mask fits over his face as he gets ready to move.
Eito stops in his tracks as he stares at the Mindless Ghoul, finding it very strange, almost alien. He had never seen anything like it, and it reminded him of the danger they were in. That didn't do much to stop him though as he grinned and stepped back. "Well, at least it ain't going for me!" The teenager [Blinks] to the Mindless Ghoul's right, panting in slight exertion before going right towards it with another [Blink], attempting to attack the monster from this angle while Morikazu did it from another.
Honoka took a step back fron the action, allowing the ones fighting to have at it. He takes some mental notes of what everyone can do, and who were the first ones to jump into the fray. That Seta guy could gather information, it seemed. Was he warning Suou and the other one specifically for any reason? Honoka assumed so, this guy could either read the minds of things that supposedly didn't think, or had some way to see the future. Maybe not complete clairvoyance, but he could tell what action something was about to take. Now that, that was useful. He made his way toward the group's back line to where Seta was and placed a hand on his shoulder. Your ability seems to cause you some trouble, yeah? I understand if you aren't so willing to trust those of us here, neither am I. However, wouldn't it be better to have allies than not to? I've already formed something of an alliance with that String girl, the gamer kid, and the girl with brown hair. You want in? We'll watch your ass, and you just do what you do, sound like a deal? Honoka turned to Alice, trying to gauge her reaction. Surely she wouldn't be opposed to another ally if Seta accepted, and certainly not one this useful. Still, if she did show any sign of resistance, that could be a problem.
Katsuo doesn't get close, nor does he use his [Shell]'s full potential, he's waiting on using it for a situation when he's around someone he knows he can trust. For now, he only makes his [Shell] seem like it can only lift and move around things; not throw things with a force that would even make a wood splinter deadly. Hey you guys over there, heads up! He throws the knife normally at the Mindless Ghoul.
Marcus takes a deep breath and focuses on the mask in front of him. So this is what a Slasher looks like? Its clearly human in shape... Have they always been like that? Or is it simply another part of the location. Marcus is snapped out of his daze by Seta's shouting. At least its not aimed for him, but considering all the attacks flying around, and how fragile we are, it would be best not to risk it. Marcus steps back silently, taking a deep breath and closing his eyes. Perhaps it would be for the best that he doesn't watch. Imagine if it had blood like them too. He's been able to handle games just fine, but when it comes to living creatures... Especially one so close... Marcus shakes his head, he can't look like the weakest person here, fortunately Taiyuki has an acid splashing ability, a convenient excuse to be sure I'll just... Be cheering you guys on from back here. All things considered. Woo, go team. You've got this Taiyuki I believe in you.
{Seeing as she can't do much to help as of now, she decides to just stay in the back until the right time. Though she can't fight in the frontlines, she'd also rather have a better view of the sudden introduction to the Mindless Ghoul.} "Should I? Should I...not? Or..." [She opened her mouth to try and speak, but not even a single sentence would come out. She decided to shut up before she started stuttering.] {Her shell seems not to be fit for combat, as she doesn't feel any kind of power inside her. Instead, she grips tightly onto her knife as she hides behind Marcus, rejecting the idea of throwing it at the horrid creature. Hearing Marcus' "encouraging words" also made "such an impact" as she can finally put words together.} "Ah, yes, of course. How could I have forgotten? Go team, do your best everybody!...or whatever." she muttered, her eyes looking down at the floor as she rancours in a bitter tone. {Just like how she dismisses the thought of drawing unneeded attention, she turns down the suggestion of trying to start conversing with anyone as of yet. So far, no one seems to trust one another other enough and it's horrible to do that in the middle of combat. She sighs as she looks towards everyone.}
Rei's hand instantly goes to his pocket as he sees the Mindless Ghoul, where he quickly draws his knife...He starts to head towards the Mindless Goul. He tries to predict where its attack will land as he aims to land his knife right in its face, where its [Shell] is said to be on. "This'll end quickly! I hope..." he says with slight uncertainty, before shaking his head and lunging forward to stab at the Mindless Ghoul's face
As Taiyuki walks down the hall he hears a strange sound behind them and sees the fence behind them, saying a small curse and hoping that they won't have to retreat, fight or die. Those were the only options Should have known that it wouldn't be so easy. Let's not get trapped yeah? I don't think we can starve, but even so getting cooped up isn't exactly beneficial to our cause. Taiyuki then watches the white orb fall off the walls and spawn a Mindless Ghoul, cracking his knuckles as he hears Marcus provide "encouragement" Did I ask for your input? Sigh, whatever, just stay out of my way or you'll get in the crossfire. Taiyuki then runs forth, clenching his fists into balls as the plating on his wrists and knuckles open up, spilling out acid that covers his whole hand, with the extra attack property ready he tries to get in close before sidestepping to the right and swinging his left fist back to hit the backside of the enemy, before turning to face it and shooting his arms out, releasing the valves and firing off a stream of chemicals to burn away at the Ghoul [Acidic Assault]

"I'll have him memorized before you know it! Don't worry!" Seeing the Mindless Ghoul, Takeno takes a few steps back, pulling her knife out but not actually making use of it. Instead she takes a deep breath, her pupils narrowing as her [Shell] activates, her perception of time slowing down to almost a pause. During that time she spends every passing real time second examining the Mindless Ghoul.
At the sound of the fence forming behind her, Alice closed her eyes and took a deep breath. It must've been slightly unsettling but it's not like she was going to let it get to her, she doesn't care what the atmosphere is like for she is here now for a purpose. Noticing the white bumps on the wall, she is actually quite interested as the white bump that would become a slasher begins moving. Watching it take its form, there was only one thing on her mind. "So they're like chickens maybe... Are these eggs?" Before she could take the time to actually examine the others, the Mindless Ghoul was upon the party. She figured now would be the time to test her [Shell] and her strings would extend accordingly, but once she noticed her allies were lunging in at the monster, she figured it'd be best to wait. There wouldn't be anything to gain from taking control of a beaten up fiend, assuming she'd get her allies to back off of it once she took control. She'd lastly respond to the Honoka detective. "Uh... Okay then. What are you on about? That eye kid? He can be our new pal if he wants." The look she'd give Seta is that of disinterest, but that's nothing new for her. She cared more about trying out her ability anyway.
Ryoma stands on guard as the creature appears, still startled by the barrier forming behind them. His eyes narrow as his "allies" begin their respective attacks. Curious. I had figured something like that might happen. No way but forward...such is life. He looks over to the wall and peruses the many white objects with great interest. His goal is to attempt to make some sense of the markings and perhaps take one along for further inspection. Tossing his "comrades" a glance, he assumes they can handle a single shambling creature. Ryoma would then take the knife into his right hand in order to free up the prosthetic hand of his [Shell]. Reaching out with said hand, he'd clamp onto one of the white objects and take a few steps back; the hand coming off his arm in the process. Right. Here I go. He'd activate the winch inside the [Shell] and attempt to tear the object off the wall.
The man would start to raise his gun up, upon noting that damn near everyone is already making an attack however Tatsu instead decides to move backward and point his weapon down at the ground, he'd still eye the ghoul for sudden movements however. "Geez, attacking all at once is a good way to cause a crossfire guys! Probably should of said it before, but I don't really think rushing in like a freaking wave, when does that plan ever work?" The man shakes his head for a moment... He can't help but feel this might have been avoided if they simply planned ahead more. What's done is done however, and he's not exactly in any place to call anyone out for not thinking ahead enough...
Before the Ghoul can act, the Victims make their move. The Slasher makes an odd groaning noise, not seeming to be sure who to follow, as Morikazu and Eito they hit from opposite sides. Katsuo throws the knife, which strikes the left shoulder as it turns to focus on the group again, letting out a screech as its arm hangs after the impact. The acid from Taiyuki seems to have left no obvious sign of damage, but Rei’s knife hits the Ghoul’s mask, which cracks. As the mask is hit, the Ghoul’s yells grow louder, and it lunges towards Tatsuya with its right arm extended for him. As Takeno focuses, she gleans information from the Ghoul as the others strike. The Ghouls reactions are slightly delayed from time of impact, and it seems to be slow to register what is happening, as it barely tried to avoid anything coming its way. Its leap towards Tatsuya is the fastest it’s moved since its arrival. The Ghoul’s left arm has gone limp, and it’s mask has been heavily cracked. There’s a sound coming from the Ghoul as well, a muffled noise with no regular intervals. After the strike to its shoulder, there is a subtle dripping sound that matches up with the beating sound. Outside of combat, as Ryoma’s hand retracts, the white object comes off the wall with no trouble. The white object resembles the mask worn by the Ghoul, but has a primitive etching of a skull.
Tatsu sighs as the Ghoul rushes toward him, it's pretty slow of course. Which in this case would allow him to dart back and raise his gun up to the thing's mask without much issue. "I was going to sit this out, but for some reason, that seems a bit stupid given how I'm currently being attacked and all. Try not to get behind it in case I miss!" The man stares down his foe and pulls back the trigger, a ringing sound would burst out through the room as his weapon jerks up a bit, the bullet would rush right toward the ghoul's mask, and assuming it hit would quickly burst into flames. For a moment, Tatsu would just stare at the heat and smoke flowing off its face. Right untill he fires another pair of shots toward the thing, and once again they'd rush forward before bursting into flame on whatever they struck. Finally, Tatsuya moves backward about 15 feet and keeps his gun aimed. "Hopefully this thing dies easy, I don't want to waste all day here or anything yeah? Feels like we've been at this forever... Bah, what am I saying? It's only just begun."
Marcus takes a few steps further back, the ghoul’s going after the cop, but that doesn’t mean he wants to be anywhere near the situation, Marcus briefly glances around, before sighing and muttering under his breath Sheesh, talk about uptight. Though, come to think of it Taiyuki was the one most likely to snap at him, oh well, there’s not much for it now. Though, Marcus does take note of... His fellow cheerleader, for lack of a better word. While this may not be the best time, while they’re both avoiding the fight anyways, Marcus steps around the fight to put his hand on Malloryn’s shoulder You gonna be ok kid? Hardly said a word since we got in this whole mess
Rei was about to take another strike at the ghoul, but then saw Tatsuya fire at it, which he jumped back immediately after the first shot. "'Could have told us when you were going to SHOOT, police man!" he yelled at him before darting backwards and waiting to see if there were any sign of the ghoul left, keeping his knife out.
{Malloryn jumps slightly as Marcus puts his hand on her shoulder, her head slowly turning towards his direction to meet his eyes. Her eyes look pale, but as soon as she blinks, she goes back to normal again.} "Yeah, thanks for asking. It's just that...this is all new to me. I've never thought I'd had to do anything like this. To be honest, I would've liked it better if I stayed dead. It's more simpler that way." {She then stares back at everyone else, her grip on the knife getting looser as she steps back, putting her hand on her chest as she breathes out.} "I feel like it won't even try to go for me, though, so I guess I should just watch. Hopefully they'll all be alright...that thing is probably almost dead anyway."
As Taiyuki recovers from his strike, he is only disappointed by the lack of damage done by his acid. Weird. Perhaps it wasn't effective against these ones or it did damage that was no visible physically. Unlikely. Hm, hopefully this ability is more useful later. Would be a shame if I got a whole lot of nothing for a giant weak point. As he talks to himself he overhears Tatsuya's warning he jumps backwards towards the wall and shifting his arms in front of his body, covering up good as he watches the bullet fly. No use getting hit by a stray projectile Feeling old Detective? Try not to. We've got plenty of time to kill after all this.

"Alright, remember, go for the Mask! We've almost got it, so let's go-" Eito was already sprinting towards the Ghoul, preparing to twist around it and stab it's Mask, grinning confidently. He was sure he could take it down easy, and thus, didn't bother to pay much attention until the first bullet flew, upon which he yelped and instantly [Blinked] back to his previous location to not get shot. "Alright, remember, pay attention next time..." The second bandage from the bottom of his chest was starting to whiten and "Refresh" again, only to get red and bloody once again at Eito's [Blink]. Thinking that Tatsuya could finish the job, the teenager steps back and somewhat relaxes, still keeping an eye out for anything suspicious. "Alright, I think you finished it, Detective.''
He runs his right hand along the etching on the mask. His fingers tracing every detail as he tries to make heads or tails of what it might be made of. Ivory? Ceramic? Just what are you? He spins the mask around in his left hand and lifts it in front of his face, a foot or so away. These things don't all seem to be alive, so what sets them apart? He'd continue to ponder the mysteries of the mask as he remains out of everyone's way.
Morikazu, after delivering another quick slash, leaps back. Well, it ain't gonna be standing much longer after all this. Can't say I'm not disappointed. He returns his senses to normal, although keeps his knife at ready. He isn't going to be caught off-guard if the thing actually survives everything.
The bullets flying towards the Ghoul hit it directly in its mask, the flames spreading over its face. The mask shatters almost immediately as the bullets make contact, the flames begin petering out, as steam envelops the small area. The Slasher and the mask fragments hit the ground, the dark figure seeming to vanish in the shadows of the Hive. In fact, it did vanish into the shadows. Those of the group who would attempt to investigate would find the body completely gone, though the fragments of its mask remain, some pieces still burning.
Katsuo sees that the Ghoul had been defeated and smirks. Well, that sure was easy, anyway... He sees the mask Ryoma is holding. Who wants to try on that mask? I mean, what could possibly go wrong?
"Actually, how about we DON'T put the mask on." Rei said as he walks towards Katsuo, facing him, "It may do nothing, but at the same time, it could potentially turn one of us into those Slashers...Considering that if we die here, we stay dead permanently, right now would not be the best time to risk things." He said, sighing, "Though, I believe we should keep it just in case it could potentially be useful later down the line."
Seta would finally turn towards Honoka with the ghoul defeated. He wasn't too sure if he should be so willing to trust him. It was as the man himself said, not many here were very trustworthy but he also wasn't a fool. His power was an unstable one from his own perspective and he wasn't sure if he could manage without allies to help him. He felt at this point that an alliance was his best bet for survival. "I don't think it'd be smart for me to turn you down. I'll do anything to make it through this so even if you're just trying to use me, I don't really mind being a tool as long as it's a well maintained."

Marcus sighs and shakes his head, yet he's somewhat relieved to see the ghoul over with. He tries to add some cheer to his voice, however anyone observant enough might notice a hint of fear You think anyone else has done this kinda junk? I like to think we're all dealing with it our own way. For some of them its mindless violence, not that I'm complaining. Marcus grins and gestures to Taiyuki for a moment, before quickly retracting his arm, perhaps in an attempt to not be caught As for me, I like to pretend its all one big game. Really, its weird enough to be one anyways. Besides, for people like you and me, it may as well be a dream, not too much we can do, so its like we're just watching. Marcus sighs and scratches the back of his head, not sure if this qualifies as help, but hey, its all he can think of I mean, surely you've got something to go back to, right? Me and a few others will be able to make sure you get back safe, whatever it is we're going through.
Taiyuki takes a breath as the fiend falls. A faint hope blossoms before he looks around again. No more enemies in sight. Better get a move on soon then. No use sticking around for too long. Alright. Let's get moving. We should move fast. We are bound to attract unwanted attention the longer we linger. Taiyuki then starts to move forward, however he hears the gun runner and walks back to Ryoma, taking a look at the ghoul mask and his own face plate for similarities, it might work as a disguise... Hmm... That might work... Good thinking. I doubt this piece of metal can do much to us. Even so I'll take it and wear it over my own mask. Perhaps if we all wear it we might be able to sneak past those ghouls. They don't seem so bright. Even better. We might be able to rip them off the next batch of ghouls and use those. Ideas start to swim in Taiyuki's head before Marcus snaps him back, frowning at him before slipping back on his own mask, as it clicks into place Taiyuki sighs heavily before speaking. It isn't exactly mindless. I have a technique I follow and if you call out you are going to shoot I will get out of the way. I won't change my fighting style for anyone. But I don't necessarily want to get shot either. Taiyuki then takes another breath before stepping back. No use arguing the next bit Marcus said. It was to raise morale. Something he didn't need but the others might. He just hopes they won't get too smart for their own good.
Honoka turned to Seta, with a hand on his hip. Well treated? Hmm, well I never broke any toys as a kid. That good? Yeah, that's good. He'd grin from ear to ear as the battle concluded, and began clapping earnestly. Bravo, bravo! Well done everyone~! You all did great! He walks forward with a bit of a bounce in his step, crouching down to the smoking remains of the Ghoul. He picked up one of the small shards of the mask, examining it idly. ...Is what I would be saying if you all didn't COMPLETELY ignore what we were talking about. Maybe not announcing it was putting too much faith in your critical thinking skills? Well, can't be helped. Like I was saying, we should take these things on in smaller squads. Since it's obvious a lot of us have already started forming some little groups, we can leave who teams up with who up to choice. This probably isn't the type of game you want to be picked last in, so do be sure to make yourself look appealing, 'kay? So, for the sake of simplicity, let's see...there are fifteen of us...so let's say we take them on in groups of three, maximum. We can decide who the initial squad will consist of whenever, but once the three are decided, the rest of us should keep our necks out of it until one of the losers in the front either dies or is otherwise not able to fight. Easy enough to understand?
Eito sighs as he stares at the Mask's remains, calmly walking over and crouching down to grab a piece next to Honoka, rising and taking a moment to look around at his "Allies". He then turns to face the Detective, his expression completely neutral. "Sounds like an interesting strategy, Detective, would certainly rid us of the chaos that just happened. Better get to picking." The teenager sighs and walks over to Taiyuki, staring up at the Yakuza calmly before breaking out into a tiny smile. "So, I just want you to know that for the forseeable future, i've decided i'll stick with you because you seem rather fun to mess with. I hope you have no objections." Nodding happily, he steps back and continues to observe everyone else quietly as he leans on a wall.
Dan grimaces beneath his mask with the conflict having concluded, but it fades with Honoka's suggestion. He didn't necessarily agree with it, but it seemed to be a preferable alternative to a hectic free-for-all. "Mister Detective, if I may. Instead of placing the brunt of the work on a select few, I would recommend having three of the more capable groups be prepared to fight at any time. This would give whichever group just fought some time for recovery between battles, no? Perhaps I might even venture so far as to request that two groups of three team up in the event we find ourselves at a severe disadvantage. I, for one, would prefer we try to maximize survival rate." He shrugs without care, but it's obvious he's thinking deeply about this.
Rei listens to Honaka's strategy, slowly noding at the statement. Groups of three, seems like a reasonable agreement, he thought to himself as he puts his knife back into his pocket. "Detective, you sure do know your logic..." he said, as he leaned against the wall, hands in the pockets, "Splitting up does seem like the best option to do for now, but we should be able to contact each other just in case something happens, assuming everyone has a phone." he said, taking his phone out and showed it to the rest of the group before putting it back He then looks at Masamune, "Depends, sentai-san, yes, your right on that part, but we need to make sure that said capable people be able to get along with each other. None of us want any of our groups going down to...ruin." He hesitated that one bit before saying "ruin", trying to make sure that his composure is intact
(edited by Ganvaruto)
Taiyuki looks to the detective and frowns, fortunately, or unfortunately, the mask cannot convey expressions, leading to Taiyuki staring at the man for a few minutes before sighing. Splitting up the party like this made him uneasy. Rei only reinforces that uneasiness with suggesting splitting up. Hmm? Splitting us up? While the disadvantages of working in a large group are clear, wouldn't splitting up into 3s make it easier for, oh I don't know. Assassination? I don't trust it. So let's make sure we don't fully split up? I don't want that Detective showing up behind me and doing whatever crazy shit he has for a shell. Taiyuki then looks to Eito and sighs, no use in arguing, the kid was the best choice if he had to join a squad, he then looks around the group and spots the gun runner as well. Pointing to him. Yo. Gun Runner, with me. I don't trust anyone else here so you two will do. I suppose we can attempt some teamwork. No use in not trying. Just be careful not to mess with my acid.
Katsuo gets skeptical over the whole splitting up thing, but he'll go with it. "Eh, it's a better idea than the fuckfest, I'll give it that." He hears the Yakuza guy offer him a place in the group. From what he's seen that Yakuza guy can use acid, and acid plus his own ability to move objects with his mind can result in good teamwork. "You know what, I was thinking of going it alone or maybe going with "Mr. Detective" over there but I think it'll be for the best if I join up with you guys. Consider me a part of the group."
His attempt to lighten the mood gone flat, Marcus listens to Honoka with a sigh, not a good way to put it, likely to earn him a little dislike, but hey, any knives pointed at Honoka aren't pointed at Marcus, so good for him. Marcus glances over to Malloryn, kid wasn't very confident, apparently they weren't that strong. Since he's already next to them, Marcus would put his arm around Malloryn's shoulder Well, if we're gonna split up, I think I'd like to go with the kid here. Someone's gotta help cheer 'em up. Assuming you don't disagree of course Besides, if none of the people in his group have flashy abilities, they're less likely to be pushed into doing the more dangerous work. Hopefully Malloryn's just faking, or unsure. Either way Marcus may as well look out for her I don't really have an opinion on a third, so unless you have an idea, I'll gladly take whoever.
For the record, I wasn't exactly saying to travel exclusively in groups of three. I was simply saying we have no more than three fighting at one time. I also agree with the big man, having several squads ready at one time to take on different situations will be handy. If you all want to split up then be my guest, but having a large, organized force is better than several smaller ones. That's just me, of course. I do believe I already have my "allies" sorted out for now, so either option is fine by me. He seems to get a bit of a kick out of the disdain being thrown his way. At the word "Allies" he would glance at Alice and Makoto. Those were his best shots in this.
{Malloryn keeps quiet to herself during the discussion everyone's having about splitting up, side-eyeing everyone so that she wouldn't have to face them. All she's really doing so far is thinking about home anyway. As soon as Marcus puts his hand on her shoulder, she gasps as she steps back, her aghast expression feeling a bit overreacted.} [She sighs before facing Marcus with a somber gaze,] "Ugh, it's fine. I don't disagree with you at all..." [she mumbled under her breath, smiling,] "I mean, it's nice to have someone worry about me. I'm used to worrying my little head over someone else...back when I wasn't caught up in this pity party..." {She then eyed everyone else, seems that everyone else is already picking buddies. She really doesn't care all that much about who is going to be the third teammate, but it would be nice to have some preferences.} "Well, I'd prefer that whoever's up for last helpings could join...us...but if you want to pick whoever will be last once you lay your eyes on them, that'll also be appropriate enough." [After she says that, she immediately stops talking, facing directly away from everyone in hopes that she said something sensible enough.]
