King of Nexus 2018 Training Room
*NOTE: COMPLETELY OPTIONAL TO PARTICIPATE, SPARRING WILL HAVE THE SAME RULES AS THE TOURNEY, OR ANYONE WHO USES IT CAN TRAIN WITH A PRACTICE DUMMY* (In an empty room in a basement where the current tournament, the King of Nexus 2018 is being held, lies a massive machine. Judging from the cobwebs and dust, it seems it hasn't been used in a while. It looks similar to the Virtual Reality machine used in the actual tournament, except more bulky, the wiring seemingly more intricate, there are multiple tubes sticking out from the machine with pads similar to the teleporters from the Virtual Reality machine. Although the pre-match festivities are occurring on the surface of the stadium, the only thing that can be heard down in the damp room where the forgotten machine stands is a constant drip of water from a nearby pipe, and Hikaru promptly typing in commands into the old console) I wonder if this old thing still works. The wiring and power supply seem to still be working, just gotta find a way to boot it up somehow and... (Just as Hikaru types in more commands, the old machine makes a loud, prolonged beeping noise. A strange green mist begins to emit from the vents of the tubes, and a bright blue light bulb in the middle of the machine turns on) Heh. Hikaru you are a genius. Now to make a small announcement.... (Hikaru the presses a button on the console of the old machine, activating a intercom system that can be heard throughout the entire stadium, except for the actual stadium grounds where the spectators are in) Greetings any current fighters who are awaiting a match or who have already fought. If you are interested, please make your way to the elevators on the south side of the stadium. I have a little something that may interest you...
can this be for those who didnt join the tourney?
This is strictly for those participating in the RP. Sorry.
is this only for current participants or are past participants acceptable?
Past participants who wish to spar with past participants are welcome too
Nacci, hearing the announcement, heads over to the elevators, waiting at their doors for whatever this something is. She looks over at her left shoulder, placing her right hand on it. "It seems fully functioning but... a test run wouldn't hurt." She rolls her shoulder, before looking back to the elevator doors.
After recovering from her own match, Sayaka had already changed into her normal attire, breathing a sigh as she lingers in the participant lounge. After hearing the announcement, the girl pauses for a moment, before heading to the elevator to check what's up Can't be worse than just standing around right? May as well check it out before I go
In the waiting room sits a large, muscular man waiting for his match. However, he was pleasantly surprised to hear the intercom chime with those beautiful words. "Fwahaha! Now this is gettin' interesting! Time to go blow off some steam!" He rises from the bench and proceeds towards the given location, his cloak dancing behind him as he walks. He finds the elevators with minimal effort and presses the button to call it. It was at this point he noticed a woman beside him. "Ahem. Hey there, I'm Hercule! You participatin' in the tournament?"
Nacci smiles and nods at Hercule's question. "Yes, I am. In fact, I was victorious in my first round. Actually, I haven't been around to see very many fights. Have you fought yet?"
Allow me to explain what this old relic is. This old machine is the prototype for the current machine used in the tournament, the Multiple Augmented Reality Computer, or MARC for short. It had the basic functions of the Virtual Reality machine, fighting in different stages, healing all wounds, you catch the drift. This was actually used in the first tournament I hosted, the Millionaire Cup 2017. The tournament never finished, and I am to blame for it, but the MARC became my inspiration for the current King of Nexus 2018, but this time, the machine had to be faster, better, had to be able to load more stages and actually give us more gimmicks like the low gravity on the Moon. As for this machine, and myself, we were all created by Hikaru Prime, the first, true Hikaru. I'm a manifestation of his playful nature, a charismatic MC for any parties or gatherings like this tournament. I just had to be given a physical body, which is what you're looking at right now. But enough rambling, this can be saved for another time. The MARC works the exact same way as the machine, except there is no healing drone, just a gas that is deployed in the teleporter chamber, the things with the big tubes. I recycled the OS from this to use in the machine on the surface, so this machine isn't all the way complete, but still works fine. At least just to load one basic training stage.
Sayaka casually stretches, raising both arms towards the ceiling before using them to cradle her heard So basically you're a clone chosen for specific traits. Sounds pretty simple Sci-Fi to me. Guess that also lets the real one, Hikaru Prime as you called 'im, right? He can kinda relax and leave most of this stuff to you. Sayaka yawns letting her arms hang loosely down to her side as she takes a few steps Guess the bigger question is what you brought us here for, right? Said you had somethin' in mind anyways
Hercule scratches his cheek with a laugh before responding to the woman. "You already went, huh? And I haven't gone yet. But I was tired of sitting around waiting so I came here." Listening to Hikaru's words was a trying task for Hercule. He didn't understand complicated things well so he really just nodded along. "So you're saying that it's a rougher version than the real thing? That's fine. As for the rest, well, I'm sure it's probably fine."
(After the lengthy explanation, Hikaru's face lights up) Why yes, as you can see, the MARC is still somewhat functional. Now I never gave the participants a proper waiting lobby between fights, so I figure why not turn this old room into a fighters lounge! We got a TV over there to observe current fights, a couch, a soda machine over yonder, and of course, the MARC in the middle of the room. With this baby still functional, I've decided to let you guys use this as a training room as well! Anyone who fought in the past is free to use it too, and spar with past opponents or help current participants train. Of course, if solo work is more your thing before a match, I've set up a training dummy to wack around too. Now since the MARC hasn't been used in a while, I can only load one stage specifically meant for training, The Grid. The same rules apply inside of the MARC, meaning all lethal attacks can be used and no self healing. There is no healing drone, however, there is a healing gas that will be deployed inside the teleporter chamber that works exactly like the healing drone, it will even fully restore your strength if you go all out in a training session, to avoid fatigue during an actual match of course. Anyone who wants to use it, I've made it available for use, and since there is more than one teleporter built in, more than one person can use it at the same time, but in different virtual rooms, if that makes any sense?
"...So there's a training room here?" a white haired boy asked as he walked in, thinking about his next match...the rock goddess, Star... "Hope ya guys don't mind if we train with you guys!" His robotic orb companion chirped in, a feminine voice can be heard from it, though, it sounds synthesized.
I hope none of you mind my sudden appearance. Janus makes his existence known as if he were always there and smiles at nothing in particular. He swings a slightly ornate cane in his left hand as he looks to everyone around him. He could almost smell the presence of food surrounding him, but held back his hunger to satiate his curiosity instead. Don't worry about explaining anything to me since I overheard pretty much everything. I just want to see how people do things. I don't often get to see such things. I wouldn't mind participating either if you don't mind an extra to the group.
Well if anyone is interested, all you gotta do is press this here green button on the console and step into the teleporter. Once you hit the button, you can step into the teleporter chamber, and it'll take you straight to The Grid. If you ever wish to leave the grid, all you gotta do is ask! the MARC will immediately return you to the real world without having to wait for anyone to input a command. Handy, isn't it?
"...Alright, but I have one question, Hikaru-san." Copen composes himself before asking, "Do you give this technology to the public, or is it reserved for the tournament?"
Also, while this is still outside the tournament, I've made sure no one messes with the MARC to prevent any pre-match accidents. The same failsafe present in the actual Virtual Reality machine will kick in if anyone tampers with the MARC in any way or form, though I will allow custom stages to be uploaded
Sayaka sighs and leans back again, of course, training stuff for the participants, what a surprise. Considering that she's out, it feels kinda wrong to try taking advantage of it, even though we're already here Well, I guess I'm around for now if someone's looking for a partner. Gotta be better than nothing right?
(Hikaru turns to Copen) That is an excellent question. I do not intend on giving this technology to the public, in fact, even if I could, I can't. Hikaru Prime was responsible for making this machine, and myself, meaning he's the only one capable of mass producing this virtual technology. I just simply took the small knowledge he gave to me to recreate and improve the tech used in the MARC and make the Virtual Reality machine in the stadium. Not an easy feat mind you, all the coding and stuff was in some weird ancient language.
Janus takes a long look at the green button on the console and points the head of his cane towards it. He naturally feels wary of such a device outside of his expertise that serves a similar function as himself. It almost feel wrong to consider using it creating a conflict between his own curiosity and revulsion. He wants to see the mechanizations of humans but doesn't want to put himself in direct risk from it. With a burning gaze he turns to look at Hikaru was the question now beating around in his mind. Can I alter things inside this system of yours? Mental things from other and myself?
(to Jaunus) I'm sorry, but I cannot allow any alterations to the machine. In fact, both this and the actual machine in the stadium are equipped with a failsafe that immediately cancels the simulation and boots all participants back to the real world.
Janus frowns at having to seek his food elsewhere and finds himself losing interest in all this by the second. Sure he could still fight even with such limitation, but there would be nothing to sustain him at the end of it. All he really wanted from this was a possible meal to bat away the hunger welling up inside him. Sadly that prospect was now dead and he would be forced into active hunting again. Shame this could have been satisfying. With a glare to the machine Janus begins to fade like the ending of a dream. He still had every intention to participate in the tournament for scouting reasons, but for now he needed to feed. Oh well guess you'll have to call me when it's time for my fight. I'm pretty hungry and my method of eating is a little out of the way so i'll be gone. Bye bye. He finally leaves.
'Well, this takes out the battle simulations I planned on doing for future missions, oh well...' Copen thought to himself after considering Hikaru's words, "Alright then, Hikaru-san, I understand" He said a little dissapointedly, but still, at least he can train here for now at the very least.
