General Talk Thread
It's too quiet every time I come around, so hop in losers, I'm making another one of these. What's goin' on for you at the moment? General life stuff, anime or shows you're watching, games you're playing, books you're reading. Let's talk about things. For me the past few weeks have been fairly slow, and my Birthday didn't really have anything special going on. Currently I'm just killing time between work mostly by playing games, occasionally chipping away at my anime and games list. My main PC and PS3 have fried themselves somehow I guess, so I've migrated back to my PS2, finally playing Rule of Rose. You'd think I'd try playing it more earlier since I bought it years ago for like $150. I might replay some RPGs on the side like Wild Arms and some Persona titles. Since my primary distractions are dead now, I'll probably also make progress on watching Digimon Data Squad, Kamen Rider Blade, and Pretty Cure Max Heart.
I also see the site very quiet, I hope this thread helps a bit to resurrect the site, but well, we can always cast recarm (Ba dum tss). For now I'm focused in three games: Monster Hunter World: hunting dragons and wyverns. Sark souls 3: dying and dying, do you see that flower? I can kill you, everything can kill you, even your summoned phatoms. Pokemmo: I've been playing this pokemon online and I like it, I can adopt(buy) pokemons and buy items, I also have fun talking with the others.
I'm actually planning on playing in a competitive Shadowverse tournament in just under an hour. Some 220 people signed up and the winner gets this cool figurine, as well as some in-game stuff. First time doing anything on this scale, but hopefully it goes well, I don't necessarily want to win, just put on a good show at least. I've also been re-watching My Hero with my older sister, once she gets caught up (and probably season 3 is over) We'll start on Psycho Pass, quite the change of pace, and there was a third one she wanted to watch but I can't remember what it was called Edit: ALmost forgot, started playing Granblue Fantasy too, its pretty cool for a gacha game and I'm getting along at a decent pace. Unfortunately the first team I have good characters for I haven't gotten any equipment to go with so I've kinda just got three half-done groups rather than anything cohesive

Not a big competitive player personally. Make her watch Magical Girl Raising Project.
sometimes, though I usually ignore them. Not a big competitive player personally. Make her watch Magical Girl Raising Project. I actually haven't told anyone IRL about the whole... Magical Girl thing. Haven't mentioned Madoka or anything. Its uh... Kinda an embarassing thing to talk about when you're a 19 year old guy. Though Raising Project's probably a better introduction into that sort of thing since I can talk more about it without going into spoilers (especially since I haven't watched that much of it myself)
I'm not quite sure which point made in that post was the greater revelation to me. The fact that you haven't gotten impatient and finished MagiPro on your own, or the fact that you're younger than me.
I don't really watch anime much on my own. Only times I have are Madoka, My Hero, and technically the first season of Nanoha, but since that last one was being used more as background noise half the time I don't know how much it counts. I do know that Chrono had my favorite lines in the entire show, and is in a weird position of being pretty important while still obviously a side character
...and then very quickly became completely irrelevant. Weird though, I can't really focus as much as I'd like to when watching in a group. So I usually watch things solo, only really rewatch shows with others. I've tried to watch shows fresh and blind with friends but it either gets unfocused or schedules are impossible to line up well. Which makes streaming longer shows near impossible.
hi i exist I got a job recently and I've got a lot of stuff to do around the house so I'm not here too much. Anyways, I recently bought Twilight Princess HD. I was curious about it for a while and I found it for a decent price so I bought it. I also started replaying Shantae 2, for some reason. Just in the mood for it, I guess. I'm not watching much right now, just waiting on Jojo Part 5 to start mostly. Not very many things interest me right now. And... I guess I picked back up Granblue Fantasy after the summer I guess. I hadn't played very much initially because of school but the P5 event helped me dive back in.
As previously stated, site's pretty dead. Let's hope for some new blood soon. As for shows, i've been watching MHA, which is one of the best anime i've seen in a while. Also been catching up with JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, which is also really great. And as for games, i've just been playing the 2015 Mad Max game, though I haven't progressed much due to my compulsive desire to do side quests and get collectibles.
Hey, I got a new job recently too... And then I quit within like two weeks. :maria: That's cool though, TP still remains as my favorite Zelda game, despite the Comcast being a bit flawed. I still play KanColle and BanDori on my phone sometimes, but I can never dive too deep into mobile games. I mostly blame the job I do game, since I use my phone enough during work that the battery is almost always crying. Doesn't give me many good chances to play.
henlo frends I've been mostly lurking here, waiting for signs of high activity. I recently came across a functional PS2, so I've been blazing through every game I couldn't beat as a kid. Its strange how I used to think PS2 graphics were the shit.
And as for games, i've just been playing the 2015 Mad Max game, though I haven't progressed much due to my compulsive desire to do side quests and get collectibles. How's that going? I've heard that game is surprisingly all right for what it is.
TP isn't likely to beat out any of my favorites, but so far I'm enjoying it. I actually really enjoyed the first dungeon, and the second was good aside from a super underwhelming boss. I'm looking forward to what dungeon 3 has for me, since I've never actually been once who's bothered by water dungeons in Zelda. Horse controls are jank but the combat's pretty good for a Zelda game.
It's pretty good, all things considered. Combat's basically from the Arkham series, there's plenty of customization for your car looks and gameplay wise, the characters so far are at the very least interesting and, best of all, over time, you unlock longer beards. Personally, I think that's the greatest mechanic ever put into a video game.
I think this summer has caused a greater drought then expected. People are probably busy on vacation or working so much that they can’t visit. Though this site could use a new wave of life or active people. As for me well being the idiot I am I landed in summer school with a excelerated course. I mean I don’t mind and the teacher is planning out everything to make it easy but...everyone only seems to come pry me for answers or to help carry them through a assignment package and it is pretty nagging at me. Aside from that i’m Practicing speedrunning a few games in my collection I found it rather fun to test my knowledge of the in game map and mechanics but I need to go do ever level of a game (Spereate categories for each level) and I need to start looking for anything to abuse shorts cuts or what not cause ever second matters.

The conbat overall is nice, I'm just disappointed how easy it is overall. There are some neat moves you can learn, but they're all optional so no encounter is built with those in mind. I would have preferred they be unlocked via story progression and have them work those into encounters. The Water Temple is pretty cool though in TP, I'd say most of the dungeons are very solid, though the bosses are mostly just passable. Y'know, Kojima apparently wanted to put real-time hair growth into MGSV, so beards would grow longer as you played more. That didn't pan out apparently but the final game does have multiple "stages" of growth for like all hair options.
Kojima is a genius. I'm not surprised at all he knew the all mighty worth of beards. Rejecting such greatness is where Konami really fucked up.
BBH
In case someone was do wondering, I am on the verge to learn French and Spainish, along with beginning to do sign language. I trying to learn piano but classes cost too much and my old broke ;_;

Standing outside The Vault not wanting to deal with the emotional turmoil that comes at the end of that dungeon again. That's what I'm up to.
Survive is just a dumb spinoff. Every franchise has those. Konami hasn't 'fucked up' the franchise in my opinion until they put out something and say it's Canon with the main story.
Work and school. Trying to figure out on how to make a maze.
Didn’t the current head of Konami say that he didn’t car much for gaming as a whole? With that kinda mentality walking forward something really undesirable has yet to pop out.
sorry for vanishing on you, tournament started and I didn't get much of a chance to write. 2-0 so far, which would be a relief if it weren't single-elimination. I did notice Chrono barely showing up in what little of the second season I watched, and kinda figured he'd vanish soon enough. But for what its worth, as a guy in a Magical Girl show he got a surprisingly large amount of screentime, and some great lines As far as watching with my sister its pretty hard to find a time since she's usually either working or sleeping, but as my schedule's pretty flexible she's usually able to get one day a week she can do it, and then we get through half a season or so. Kinda slow, but I can wait.
KR Kabuto starts out pretty good, so that's that
Had my birthday last week, so thats something.
Spent all day porting the PMs to the PS Vita (don't ask why), so if you ever feel like going there on the console for some strange reason, it works.

I haven't seen my Vita in 2 years and I spent an extra $50 on MGS games on it.

I mean I have a Vita, I like my Vita, bit don't have many games for it. Maybe I'll consider it.
Hibiki you better have MGS3 Snake Eater.
I own every main MGS game except Ground Zeroes, though I did get to rent GZ. I have some of the spin-offs too. Though with my PS3 dead, some of them can't be played at the moment.
Week's been long, constant changes to the rules and how we do things keeps everyone on edge. Thankfully the changes turned out to actually be good this time. On a more positive note, I got a new laptop screen, so now Fallout 4 doesn't immediately CTD, now it waits 5 minutes before doing that. XD Also, I finally figured out a good RPG system for a Discord RP that I run and rebooted it. Finally, I got a new phone and SIM card, so I may be able to exist here again soon.

Speaking of Vitas, got one yesterday, been playing Persona 4 Golden for a few days.

On a more negative note... the Phansite's activity has decreased since I first started being active. That's just my opinion...

Yeah that whole summer + dancing bump kinda never happened. Though some intriguing things still happen.
Speaking of Vitas, got one yesterday, been playing Persona 4 Golden for a few days. Welcome to the worse Persona game.

I've been lurking, waiting for good RP threads. but they never come maybe i should go back to shitposting

For the past few days I've been binge watching Kubz Scouts play P3 FES. Why I don't play it myself? Don't have a PS2. Why not get an emulator, well, uh, my PC is broken, and I'm not getting a new one anytime soon ;-; so I'll just finish my first playthrough of P5 for the rest of summer (I started playing in April and I'm currently at Sae's palace and I'm grinding for the boss.). Also I see a lot of people talking about their Vita's and I'm TOTALLY not jealous...
Let me see, I am trying to survive the Summer heat, drawing most of the day, replaying most of Kingdom hearts to get in hype mode for KH3, Also tons of BBtag combos and morning walks beside SHSL Blazes Octopath streams and Discord madness. Life is good but in two weeks work starts. Also the new Panic at the disco Album is good.

Pretty much the same, except I can't draw. xP
The last thing I remember is watching Osomatsu-san :V No social life ;-;
Speaking of Vitas, got one yesterday, been playing Persona 4 Golden for a few days. Welcome to the worse Persona game. No. Just no.
You're right. Persona 4 is still fighting with Persona 2 over which is actually my least favorite game in the series.
I take slight offence to this

I take slight offence to this You're dead, you're not allowed offence.
Fair enough Hey kid, wanna make a deal?
Well, I said I'd play more PS2 games, and get back to anime... but I was unfortunately reminded of mobile games so I guess I'm back to playing KanColle and BanDori all day.

Summer has been kind of a crazy affair for me with tons of family and an internship about an hour away. I did get to finally do some touristy stuff that I have been meaning to do since forever. Also discovered the perfection of green curry with duck. Other then that I have been keeping up with movie stuff since its too hot for outside function. Right now i'm following some new stuff like Banana Fish and Angels of Death after seeing Darling in Franxx to the end. As for books I finally got around to reading the Baccano Light Novels. Fell in love with the series again after an anime rewatch and the light novels are mostly available in english. With the next semester coming up I can already feel my summer going, but plan to end it with a bang by cosplaying at the nearby Renaissance Faire. Hope everyone else had an equally pleasant summer~
Was it too much to hope for this to survive and be a regularish thing?
You've just gotta believe in yourself, and anything is possible. Finally got around to continuing Cyber Sleuth Hacker's Memory, once again there's a metric ton of revisiting areas, but aside from those little optional sidequests its still a good bit of fun
Gin
Probably.
Short answer: You tried. Long answer: Yes, for the simple reason that everything on here tends to be a fad at most. I personally think this thread should work kind of like the rules thread, as in it never gets blocked and optionally gets pinned so as to avoid necro posting, but you do you.

I personally think this thread should work kind of like the rules thread, as in it never gets blocked and optionally gets pinned so as to avoid necro posting, but you do you. Honestly, when I made this thread, I was a bit hopeful that it could become something like talk threads on other forums I visit, where it just is everyone talking about things and it never seems to fade away. Kind of like some middle age Leblanc but not RP related, I guess? that's the best way I could word it.
I could never really be bothered to work on much post-game in Digimon games, never been fond of grinding. Hence why I've put the newest Digimon World game on delay for now, just constant difficulty cliffs and I'm not even through the first part. I mean seriously, what kinda Digimon game demands you to have Mega-levels before you even meet any sort of villain?
It is I, Alphinaud Leveilleur, Scion of the Seventh Dawn, at your service and here to roleplay in this general talk thread.

Hence why I've put the newest Digimon World game on delay for now, just constant difficulty cliffs and I'm not even through the first part. I mean seriously, what kinda Digimon game demands you to have Mega-levels before you even meet any sort of villain? Technically none of them if you're good, otherwise, all of them. I've never minded it too much but I also went out of my way to get Megas in Cyber Sleuth way before they expected me to have any.
Usually Megas are reserved for the end-game, at least for the ones I've played. They also don't tend to pull their villain out at the very end, for example, in Dawn you technically meet them at the very beginning of the game, impossible to have anything but Rookies for your first encounter with Grimmon since that's before you can actually go out into the world. There was also a Digimon SAVERS game for the PS2 that you were likely to be at ultimate level when you beat. I guess my point is more that they divided the game into parts and they're actually requiring me to have megas (or really well-grinded Ultimates I guess, couldn't be bothered to go past it, but with the ults I did have were getting one-shotted by Machinedramon in spite of the fact I just breezed through the last plot point) before I have even the slightest clue what's happening
Maybe we just play different ones, since a lot of Digimon games I played have the main antagonists more of a late-game reveal. Maybe some foreshadowing. Though they also make Megas something you can acquire nearly anytime you want if you're willing to work that hard.
It might be more common in the Digimon World series, which this was my first game in, but while some sight of the antagonist is usually saved near the end, I usually get there around ultimate rank. And yeah, if you were a masochist you can technically get a Mega rank in the very first area of any game, its just usually not worth the effort. This is the first time I've actually seen it be near-mandatory early-on. Makes me wonder where exactly I'm expected to go from there
Considering I sort of rushed into getting a team of all Mega's I can't say much about them being near-mandatory early on. I'm considering trying a new run of Cyber Sleuth though, so I suppose I could try and see the difficulty curve as it is.
In Cyber Sleuth I usually get my first megas just before the merging thing, which is only like, two-thirds of the way through the game so maybe that's more common, though it also comes off at really easy at times so I kinda wonder if I'm just overleveled. Dawn was the biggest one for me, its actually kinda hard to get your starting digimon to mega form before facing off with the final boss, well, not hard of course, but time-consuming
I had my first Megas in Cyber Sleuth fairly early, I think it was maybe like a fourth of the way through the game, but I exploited a trick I found for easy experience grinding, because my endgoal was to finish the compendium of Digimon, so I figured it best to start early.
Yeah, I've heard there are actually several tricks in Cyber Sleuth, though the only example I've gotten was using 3 Platinum Numemon since they have an EXP boosting skill, but last I checked those were megas already so not gonna help get the first
Well aside from Numemon, there are USB items that you can equip on active party members to boost EXP. These things can be crafted pretty cheaply on the islands, for like 1,000 Yen, but have a fairly low drop rate. So it can be hard to get them unless you're willing to close the game and reload saves a lot (items received from crafting are randomized, and the game decides what you're gonna get at the literal last second, so you can save like 5 seconds before crafting is finished to save time). You'd want an island full of Builder-types though. The worst part is all the EXP increasing tricks stack, so you can have three Platinum Numemons with 3 EXP USBs each for insane results.
Never realized those equips stacked, probably cuz of how fast the experience bar fills after a battle, but hey, nice to know that I can just shove three onto the target in question to get them up faster. Currently trying to boost my Brakedramon's ABI so I can get its DNA digivolve, mostly because I haven't seen it before. Also, why did they put Dianamon in this game and not its counterpart Apollomon?
I should clarify, though you probably may have noticed, the EXP boosters not only stack, but affect everyone in the party, even those in the back. It's insane if you can get everything working. Because Dianamon is more popular, and they made the female protagonist of Dusk, and thus Dianamon, the canon protagonist of the Dusk/Dawn thing.
Spent all day porting the PMs to the PS Vita (don't ask why), so if you ever feel like going there on the console for some strange reason, it works. Thanks again lmao Also, to anyone who's curious: it's currently a very simplified version of PMs but can confirm, it works. I think my dms were the test update log lmao, came home to a lot of progression updates
Too bad it won't let me spam the chat with screenshots of my Vita games.
I just searched my whole house for my Vita with my parents since I haven't seen it since 2016 and we couldn't find it anywhere. I wanna die.
Well I guess Dx2 is out and fine. Runs like garbage on my phone though, I think I will stick to rhythm games.
Gin
I got bored of Dx2 and deleted it. What rhythm games you play, Hibiki?
Honestly I just play bandori and nothing else. Though I still have love live sif on my tablet that I haven't uninstalled despite me not playing it for years at this point. I'm kinda surprised to hear someone else deleted Dx2 though, seems everyone I know is still screaming its praise.
Gin
Eh. I just got bored of it. The gameplay's nothing to write home about, the story was pretty boring and the fact everytime you open the game a "Hey. Spend £40 ($52) for a starter item set" keeps coming up kinda annoyed me after a while. That and the fact it seems you have to buy the summon currency to actually get anything half decent with the summon pool that only becoming active if you buy enough of the summon currency just seems iffy. Also, I'll stick to Cytus II for my rhythm games. Not that I've played any others, I just like the music.
Nothing is ever free from the mobile game quirks. You're trapped forever. This is why the few gacha-esque games I stick to are ones where it's more of an annoyance than an actual obstacle. I remember I used to play some mobile RPG where bad luck was a death sentence because some story missions were blatantly impossible without the super strong uber rare cards or brute forcing it by spending premium currency on revivals. Now I just play stuff where the rarer cards and stuff might as well just affect how fast you earn rewards and nothing else for how much they let you get away with almost anything you can get your hands on.
Gin
While I get that no game is truly free, it's annoying when the game beats you over the head with that fact everytime it loads. I prefer playing the FTP games that don't do that. It's why I like FGO and FEH so much.
All right, well there's my good laugh of the day, thanks for that.
Gin
Always happy to help.

I want P5 Arena to be a thing so bad~ I feel lonely with this one wish.
For a P5 Arena, probably not. I however am still stuck being the only one hoping for just a "Persona Arena" that just makes up an excuse to have literally everyone from P1-5 in a fighting game.
That would actually be cool. Hell, they could even make it a P2-kind of deal where they fight because of a bet between two gods and have been gathered from around time and space. They could even use that as an excuse to have two Tatsuyas, one from IS and one from EP.
As long as I get a fighting game where P1 characters can get into duels on the street with the P5 kids, they can just omit the story mode entirely and not even try to excuse it.
Never before have I wanted to play as mark and shoot yukiko in the face with his shotgun so much
I finally ended up finishing Cyber Sleuth Hacker’s Memory last night, and I must say I really like how the Eaters are done. They get their own music, look totally different from anything else in game and are the only enemy that just... Stands there sometimes, which kinda helps show how out of place they are. Hacker’s Memory also does a pretty good job getting you to pity them in the end, which is something that is not exactly common in games
Sounds great too bad I CAN'T PLAY IT
Who here plays arena ultimax?
I don't. Not since... the war....
I can try to get back into Arena....
So I watched Kamen Rider Amazons season 1 and am currently half-way through season 2. Season 1 is pretty good, so far season 2 is just decent and less interesting.
I dropped Amazons pretty early. I think the series is too uh... boring... and overly edgy. I blame Shirakura.
Eh, bored me less than Blade.
I don't. Not since... the war.... Wait what war again?
Y'know.... the war.
WHAT WAR
(edited by PhantomGana112)
Well on the bright side I got a new job that hopefully won't turn out to be some shady shit like the last one.
What is the war?
Gin
The war is the war. Better not to ask.
Earning money is always nice. Dare I ask what this new job of yours is?
The same as the old job but in a different place and without a shady employer.
Well then, at least you have experience. In whatever your job is. Do you actually know the employer is legit or is it just “I don’t know anything bad about them”?
Someone else in my family has worked for them for over a year without issue. Compared to my previous employer whom had issues crop up within 3 days of working.
The latest episode of Build made me cry.
I thought you didn't watch seasons while they aired.
I got impatient and Build is great and I'm okay with waiting 2 weeks for the finale of this fucking great show Also, Amazons season 2 is somehow more boring than Wizard
So, Something happened at our school today. Someone hacked the wifi and changed the identity and password to the main network, and it seems they hacked some student's chromebook.
I joined Bikiboos server and became the target of bulli :c
Luna doesn't deserve to be the target of bullied :c I'll help protect you~
You can try and protect her but it may be difficult because she is the target of self-bulli specifically.
Oof, that's not good ;-;
Such a wonderful maiden need not look down on thyself. Look to your fairer aspects whilst building upon the qualities thou yet lack.
I got impatient and Build is great and I'm okay with waiting 2 weeks for the finale of this fucking great show Also, Amazons season 2 is somehow more boring than Wizard Whelp, too bad Build is going to be succeeded by Zi-O, which may surprise me, but so far doesn't look good.
Well, I'm heading off to college in 3 days, so thaats fun... I've been way too busy for Anime or games, but I'm technically playing through a bunch of games simultaneously rn while making very little progress in each one individually. I've been playing LoH: Trails in the Sky the 3rd, Bayonetta 2, Celeste, BOTW, DK Tropical Freeze, Octopath Traveler, Megaman X Legacy Collection and Yakuza 0 just off the top of my head. Although like I said, I don't really have much time for them, so I kinda just pick one and play a few hours of it that given week. I guess it works but I probably could be going about it way better...
For Zi-O, I'd say never trust a trailer, because if you do trust a trailer, you start thinking Ghost and Wizard are good.
I'm not even talking about the trailer, the actual confirmed staff is a bit of a mixed bag of a few good people and some people I don't trust in the slightest.
BBH
Just going to say this, but Yakuza 0 is probably one of my favorite games of all time
Social Activity
Just going to say this, but Yakuza 0 is probably one of my favorite games of all time Yeah, I'm late getting into Yakuza 0 since I don't have a PS4. That game has always looked cool to me, but I wasn't able to get it until the PC port came out a few weeks back. It's pretty great so far though!
BBH
Yeah! Just finished Kiwami myself. According to everything, it has the best story of all the games. The karaoke is the best. Now to wait ten days for 2. Good luck with college.
(edited by BBH)
Idk why I'm bringing this up but the main reason I joined this place was because I saw some video referencing the anon chat. I went a little further and went into the Phorum and I looked into a few posts and decided to join.
Yeah! Just finished Kiwami myself. According to everything, it has the best story of all the games. The karaoke is the best. Now to wait ten days for 2. Good luck with college. Yeah, I think i'll be done with 0 in a few days, and I'll definitely get Kiwami after (whenever SEGA feels like releasing it on PC, hopefully this year). And thanks for the encouragement!
