switch can't handle it properly

Of course switch can potentially handle it, and well. Just that the main titles seem to be centered on the PlayStation, with the spinoffs on other platforms such as the Nintendo with the 3ds Q2 and the Switch's Persona Scramble. But hopefully we do get a Persona title on switch sometime soon!

Joker is announced for smash and around the same time Persona 5 the Royal is announced. Why announce a whole new game with seemingly just content that could be PS4 DLC unless it would be a game purchasable as a benefit for getting it on another console?

p5 could probably run on switch just fine, but something deep inside me thinks that we're more likely to get the game as a p3 portable sort of thing than the actual game, if at all :/

You want me to bring up Cloud when he was announced for Wii U and 3DS? His main game wasn't on Nintendo consoles at the time. Gets announced for Smash =/= Game will be on a Nintendo console. Also, Nintendo, Sony, and Atlus seem to have an agreement to where all of the mainline SMT games on modern console will be on Nintendo consoles, and all mainline Persona games are on PlayStation. Spinoffs can go anywhere. On the "Can the switch actually run Persona 5?", it would require a ton of tweaks and modifications for it to run it. Unlike what people want to believe, the switch isn't that powerful. Games like BotW literally cut the battery life of the Switch in half, and games like Doom 2016 made the Switch literally feel like Hell when docked. As much as people want it on Switch, you are more likely to see a Halo game on Switch rather than a mainline Persona game.

I think the idea behind characters getting added to Smash is "Has their series been on a Nintendo console ever"? Joker is the most recognisable Shin Megami Tensei character due to Persona being more mainstream than the official SMT line of games, one of which is coming to Switch at some point in the future, so he was added in place of someone no-one would have known like say Flynn for SMT4. It's pretty much just like Cloud. Final Fantasy has been on Nintendo consoles and Cloud is the most recognisable of the characters from Final Fantasy. So, even though FF7 isn't on a Nintendo console, he was added as the Final Fantasy representative over less recognisable characters who had games on Nintendo consoles like Terra or Firion.

Then again, with Cloud, even if it was years after the point, Final Fantasy 7 was re-released on switch, even if it was from a collection of fan favorite final fantasy games. It wouldn't hurt to at least think that since Joker got in, maybe P5 might be on switch now.

However, I don't feel like Nintendo would really do the game much justice on the switch, and it may be too much of a risk for them to try and release the game on that console. If you look at the poll on the anon chat or even in just other places you can see that people already aren't responding well to them rereleasing basically the same game but with a few new add-ons. Nintendo isn't very dumb, and I doubt they would try to push the issue of putting persona on the switch without looking at other feedback from fans first. Also, with FF7 coming out on the switch, they had a perfectly justifiable reason to do so, even without the collection. The game isn't (or at least it wasn't, before PS4 did the same) on any new gen consoles before they rereleased it; the same cannot be said about Persona 5. I don't know, but it just doesn't seem realistic or reasonable for them to put it on the switch, as nice as that might sound. Don't get me wrong, I would like it as much as the next guy, but there's too much to put into consideration.
