I disagree, personally. While she's not the worst (Futaba holds this spot for me), Makoto just feels like a very dry character, and the only interesting things about her are her HEAVILY forced recklessness. This automatically makes me dislike her character. I did even give her personal arc a try, but that probably made my opinion of her worse. She is a control freak, and when her friend didn't listen to her, instead of leaving her alone like any normal person, she kept pestering her! I get if she wanted to make sure her friend was okay, but if she clearly doesn't care about what you're trying to tell her, I'm sorry, but you need to leave them alone. Makoto is not a top tier pick for best girl. That is just my opinion.

I also disagree to me she felt shoved in your face story wise as well as boring character wise. I liked about her the badass queen side, but her controll president side annoyed me as well as the ' Oh i have to act weak so Joker can be the Hero to cling on'. It felt so forced and away from the strong Queen. In my opinion they could have made it either more natural or stick with one thing. Her social link also was mostly about Eiko which did not felt as much improvement for her to me. Pineapple out.

Maybe I would like her better if she would shut up when I analyze enemies. You don’t need to tell me to use bless skills I can see it right in front of me. Also during Sae’s palace she gets super annoying because all she ever says is “Sis” and it makes me want to scream. We get it! It’s your sister! Maybe if she would actually do her job and be the team's tactician, instead of just recycling the old plans we've already implimented, then maaaybe I could have an argument for "best girl". Or maybe not. Best girl is the canon lover. Fight me.
