Persona 3

persona 3 is also very good!! i recommend playing either FES, or the PSP release!!

i have not played p1/2 though, so i can't offer an opinion on those!! sorry!!

Spin-offs?

Persona 3 is life, you can't go wrong with that game and Persona 2 has Hitler as the main villain, so you know that's great. Only one I haven't played is the first, but I've heard it hasn't aged very well :/

I just need to stop playing Persona 5 first....XD

I can play Atari games for weeks, but this... o.o

Persona 3 FES or Portable, P1 is old an weird and an Etrian Oddesy type and P2 has weird Issues with the PSP Versions. P2 OS (The first game) PS1 Version didn't come out then P2 Eternal Punishment (the second game) did come out then the improved PSP Version of OS came out here but the PSP Version of EP didn't so you need to downgrade to play the second game it sucks.

As someone that's played nearly every Persona game I'd say play them all. But P4 and P3 are the closest you can get to P5. I love P1 to death, but that'smostly because I started with it. If you like older RPGs I'd say give P1 a shot. Everyone loves P2 for it's plot and characters, but I hate the fusion system in it with a passion. Fusion spells are nifty though.

Trying to decide if a new game plus 2 is worth it .

If not, then I might looking into getting Persona 3 on my vita

Let a mainline SMT elitist step in here

P3 is about as dark as P5 in terms of tone, I'd say the gameplay is worse though. If you're gonna play it, I would recommend the PSP port, Persona 3 Portable. In PS2 versions of P3, you can't control your party members, but they changed that in P3P.

P2 (Both Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment) have pretty old-school gameplay, and the battle system hasn't aged particularly well. It takes some getting used to, but it's still a good time. The story in both games is phenomenal, more than reason enough to play them.

P1 has also aged roughly, but it's still very solid on it's own. I urge you to give both P1 and 2 a fair shot before ditching them because they are really good.


TL;DR: Start with 3, then 4, then either the older Persona games or you can delve into the weird world of P4 spin-offs.

P4 Golden and Dancing All Night are still on sale if I remember rightly...

Unfortunately, I picked up Persona 4 Golden a week before Golden Week. So not very happy about it. But good game so far.
