Who wants to make/participate in a forum RPG-ish party game?
I'm thinking of making a game where users of the forum design teams of persona-users and compete with each other. I (We) can help me design a list of personas to choose from or we can let players create them from scratch.

Basically, the format would be that each day would equal a turn and players can make moves in any order, but they only have 24 hours to move. After one team defeats the other, the victorious team would gain honor based on well they did and the losing team would lose a set amount of honor. Matches would be made based on honor.
Any other ideas?
That actually sounds really cool. O.O
Sounds pretty good
I like the idea, Totally picking Apollo if this becomes a thing.
I want to hear what you think about rules and how we should go about creating characters
I'm calling Ippon-Datara.
Hm. I dunno, really. I'd help with all that, but my mind is just...clouded, at the moment.
I think it sounds great but I don't really know how results or anything would be decided :<
Awesome, I could get behind that.

I can create my own profile for my character and Persona when needed.

Question; would we rely on game based stats like Attack, Magic and etc. Or a simplized tabletop format where attack detracts from HP- defense?
Well do want characters to have stats and such or just have be characters? If the first do we roll for them or do a point buy system?
Rolling would be difficult with this forums format... I believe a system like the Pokemon Trading Card game would be easier, where attacks reduce HP, with detracted and added damage for weakness and resistance. I'm not sure how Mudo and Hama would work though.
I was thinking stat growth would have predetermined patterns
We'd have to go off site for rolling yeah.
Replace Mudo and Hama with Eiha and Kouha(sp?)
Hey that's a pretty cool idea mona
Also, should the format be based off of persona 5, an earlier game or an original format?
From looking up Personas for RP purposes I can tell you finding info on P3/P4 Personas is way easier than P5.

Half the Personas on the MegaTen wiki don't even have their P5 info yet.
You mean the fighting mechanics
@Bluehair yep
P5 is fast paced, in P4 it takes too long to summon, and it takes too long to get the best personas in P3
It took me 2 years to get thanatos, a powerful level 50 orpheus, and a level 73 Minato
However, from a melee standpoint, P5 has more moving parts due to the Physical-Gun split, and P3 has the Slash/Bash/Pierce.... thing.
It's mainly because I had school
I'm not sure if this game should even have the ability to gain new personas.
Sub-personas, at the very least
Yeah, maybe like two in total, three at the max if we're gonna do that.
I think it would bulk the game to have multiple Personas, Wild Cards are extremely rare in the world of Persona anyway.

As for story, how about an original concept based loosely on SMTIII? If competition between Persona users is a thing, I can see it being akin to that game where the winning chosen one gets to reshape the world.
I think it'd be best to only have one Persona really.
If Sub Personas are a thing I think it should be limited to 1, like in Q.
Yeah one Persona with maybe an ultimate sounds best. As much as I'd love 1/2 style then we need to fuck with affinity so no.
Bump
i would 10/10 join this tbh
It's an interesting idea for sure.
I still need input on it, guys
Maybe to make personas fair you have them be a set type I.E. phys has strength prioritized and mainly phys skills? All personas have a set move set to choose from etc
@NotIgor that was what I was thinking.
maybe hp sp applies by changing according to skill set
Also figured out a damage system
I think it would be better to come up with an original damage system, but I don't know
Have skills do a set damage which is then modified by the persona stats
Could work yeah, what about buffs and reflect magic?
Say a Jack Frost with a magic stat of 22 attacks using bufu set bufu damage to 50 add 22 subtract enemy's endurance and bam
Buffs work on modifiers of 50% for kaja/kunda 100% for charge/concentrate
I'd assume
Charge/concentrate would be 250%. Otherwise, it'd be a waste to use as it could be instantly shut down by an enemy lowering their attack and it would be a waste of a turn
That's true
Another thing to keep in mind are ailments and which we keep or dispose of
I know rage can be kept as it's the simplest to calculate
Keep them all and throw in the PQ glyphs for good measure!
Reflect magic would be (set damage + user persona's offense stat modifier - enemy's defense stat modifier - ally's defense stat modifier) ÷ 2
Also, I made a discord for this so ideas are more easily tracked.
Bumpioli Bumpioli give me the forumoli
Should we make a list of skills that are viable or list people come up with their own skills within reason?
BTW your instant invite has expired.
I think an mix between cannon skills and maybe one or two custom skills would be ok. And if something seems broken it'll either have an absurdly high cost/prerequisite or just be not allowed. If fusion spells are tossed into the mix (which would be pretty cool) they'd need to follow the same rules I would think.
I thought I set it not to expire?

I hate discord
Cannon skills would be awesome.
To clarify, the 'one or two custom skills' I mentioned is on a per persona basis. Not for a total list of skills.
I also feel we should stick to mythology like persona does
>Stick to mythology
>Robin Hood

I think it'd be okay if we used fiction other than mythology. Like Terminator or Plumbers
Well Caesar exists though. I think old historical figures can work too. Especially for the Emperor arcana (Pharaohs, Emperors, Kings etc...). Not sure what other arcana would lend itself well to something like that besides Empress for obvious reasons.
Also, what should the name be?
I'm thinking something like, "Persona Champions!", "Persona Versus" or "Persona Cross: The Velvet Challengers"
Persona Versus: Champions of the Velvet Room ?
Perfect!
Sounds like an Atlus title to me.
Have you forgotten?
Mao
Sounds good
I remembered
Keep this bumped

Should people be allowed to make their own personas or should I just make all the personas?
If you set the rules for creating personas, then it should be fine.

*cough* the tabletop RPG discord has a link to a google drive full of information and this is a shameless self promotion *cough*
Holy crap, I'd totally be in on this.
The issue with player submitted stuff is that it can veer into loophole abuse levels of OP quickly.
