Do people dislike P4?
I feel like more often than not I see P4 being criticized so I was wondering if people actaully dislike it.
Yeah, I noticed it became a trend to shit on P4.
I mean everyone has their own opinions, but the amount of hate P4 gets is just uncalled for.

About 3-4 years ago it was hard to find anyone who didn't like the game, now it's treated like trash.
Dude, P4 is a good game, is hard, interesting and the story is really good.

I completed it one year ago and i still miss the "Every day is great at your junes" and the "oh, welcome back big bro :3".
Yeah, its a bit ironic when you consider the amount of refrences and whatnot that came out of P4 that are now associated with the series as a whole.
Maybe that's because of all the spin offs that P4 generated. I'm not a fan of Arena games or DAN myself. I enjoyed the (first) anime adaptation and PQ though. P4 manga's also quality.
Blame DAN probably. I only joke about how P5 ended more Scooby Dog than P4 ever was.
Yeah, l don't hate the arena games, but the fact that there were 2 different ones plus a dancing game as a sequel probably turned a lot of people off to P4 and its cast.
I still think P4 is the one of the best Persona game ever relased.(One can say P4 is the best JRPG) Almost my favourite one (After Persona 3). I don't really think sequels are bad and in my opinion they actually contribute to the series. At least they are not some 'cheap' sequels, they have their own value.
Yeah, but over saturation of any kind leaves a bad taste in anyones mouth.
Also I think the fact P5 is better than 4 led to more attacks on 4. It's no longer the best JRPG, it's second.
It's a good game @Yu-Narukami. But it had material to make memes. Like Chie's obsession of meat (That sounds messed up) for example.
@Migrant I still prefer P4G over P5.

@The_Hunter I think P5 is the most meme-y Persona so far.
Personally, I think P4G is objectively worse than P5.

Honestly, it's hard to enjoy older SMT games for me because of all the things I can't do. Even Persona 5 is missing some features which prevents me from enjoying it fully, like removal of S. Link skills. It just feels empty. If you ask me, all the Persona games get too much praise because they're far from perfect. Like Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
I still thing Persona 4 is good, but with all the spin-offs and Golden, it almost feels like it ruined itself, it's part of the reason why I'm afraid of all the potential Persona 5 spin-offs. I still enjoy Persona 4 by itself but... I gotta admit it is fun to sarcastically shit on it.
Persona 4 is my 2nd favorite game because of Rise
Persona 4 is my least favorite game because of Rise
I like Rise but she isn't so great to improve the game. At this moment in time, Persona 2 is my second least favorite. I will be burned at the stake for it but I enjoy it just a bit more than Persona 2.
Rise is awesome because I love how she loves Yu so much and would probably kill another girl that he tries to date also she's hot
I still love P4. I'm ashamed to say that I bought a Vita just for Golden.
Well that sounds...
Yandere as hell...........
Yandere?
I love P4. That game was a rollecoaster of emotions.

But still P3 was my first Persona game and that was way sadder than P4. Loved that game's ending.

P5 feels somewhat more SMT than the last two. I don't exactly know how to rank it yet.
My favorite game is Persona 4 Dancing All Night
In my opinion, P4 had the best story line. My reasoning behind that is this...
P3: group of highschoolers can operate in a special hour thats and try to save their town from shadow- thats pretty cool.
P5: group of highschoolers steal the hearts of the corrupted- also cool
P4: a group of highschoolers face a form of their inner selves that pretty much says 'hey, don't deny who you are.' AND they solve murders and all that jazz.

And I felt that P4 had a bigger plot twist with (spoilers) Adachi being the murderer than P5 (spoilers) akechi being the traitor.
I love the P5 story
I love the story for all 3, but 4 had the best imo
I mean I don't think that's a great comparison since you bring up P4's theme of not denying who you are, but didn't mention anything about the themes of P3 or 5 but I can understand your reasoning.

Also Akechi being the traitor isn't really a plot twist in my opinion, it was kind of obvious from the beginning, I think the actual plot twist is the situation surrounding it, you know, basically everything involving the Casino Palace and the body double Metaverse situation.
Yea but I found it kinda stupid how they just killed off Minato
They should've made Mona the traitor or something
If you're bringing up Persona 3, to be frank, they had to have him die. The entire theme of that game is time and death, and accepting this fact. Minato left his mark on the world, met his end, and accepted it. Memento Mori and all that jazz.
Still sucks
The Internet spoiled P5 for me before it was even released in the US. It's still a fun game. If it wasn't I wouldn't be on a newgame+.
Still, I feel like between 3, 4,
@MightyMage: I'm assuming you uses the ampersand, don't do it, it breaks posts.
Huh, it cut off my post. Weird.
What I was saying though is that I feel like between 3, 4, and 5 I just cared more about the social links in 4.
Thanks Hibiki. I figured that's what it was.
Yeah, I think the animation definitely made me care about the social links in 4 way more.
I give credit to P5 because it's the only game so far that makes me actually care about all the Confidants. In 3 and 4 I maybe cared about a quarter to half the Social Links.
Agreed execpt for my waifu in P4
Unpopular opinion Ai Ebihara is the best SL in P4
Extremely unpopular
I found Ai pretty cool once you got past her bitch phase.

Undisputed worst Social Link was Rise.
I enjoyed Ai's progression through her social link. She wasn't my favorite but I certainly liked her. Honestly I have two favorites. It's between Kanji and Dojima.
Rise is bae
I probably find hers the best because she's relatable to me
....which makes sense, its kind of a trend for the Moons to be relatable to me
maaaaaaybe its cuz im a Moon myself
...nah
Well the Moons are usually relatable to me but I only finished half the Moon in P3P and completely ignored the Moon in FES so
P4 was my entry into the series and boy was it a good one! I feel like I would've been at wits end if I started with P3 due to my impatience and Tartarus' scale.
No offense Hibiki but does that mean your a bitch too?
I'm sure there was a nicer way to ask that horrible question...
There wasn't
Okay first off, you cannot preface that with "no offense". You fucking knew what you were saying.
Second, You're*
Third, your question to me basically means you didnt even bother to complete her SL if you think she's a bitch
From how you describe characters like Ai or even Rise I gotta wonder if you even finished their stories or just looked at them on a surface level
and fourth
there was a nicer way to ask that question
Don't fucking ask it.
*looks down and walks to a corner*
I don't hate P4 by any means, I just feel that it is weak in comparison to the other games. (I haven't played P1 so I cannot speak for that one)

I like the story, setting, and Adachi, Nanako and Naoto are some of my favorite characters in the entire series, but...

I don't like how the game is handled post November. Particularly the arc with Adachi, but I will keep my opinion to myself as that is another can of worms.

I didn't feel as sympathetic towards the party as I did in other games. I found Yosuke and Teddie to be very annoying characters with few redeeming qualities, and Yukiko and Rise's social links are handled poorly and go in a full circle. Nothing really changes. I really like Chie, Naoto and Kanji though.

Another part that annoys me about the game is that it tries to manipulate you towards a bad. I'm talking about the scene in the hospital of course.

Overall, I do really love P4 but several aspects drop it down in comparison to the other games. I'm not ever saying I hate it.

Adachi, Kanji, Naoto, Ayane and Nanako are treasures.
Honestly I haven't seen any hate for P4 except for its spin-offs I consider it one of the best jrpg's. Every persona game is superior to its predecessor imo. I love all the characters but if I had to pick best villain I would pick Adachi because his motive was like I am bored so I did it for the lolz. Also Empress arcana best girls.
I think it's less people hate it and more a lot of time has passed since it came out and its flaws became more apparent. Also, while the story on its own is fine enough, when put next to every other game in the franchise. Despite revolving around a murder mystery, I've seen a lot of people argue that it plays out pretty much like an m-rated Scooby-Doo mystery. While that may not necessarily be a bad thing, it's probably not exactly a good thing either.

I like the game as a whole, but there are a lot of parts I don't like. Like Teddie. And the dungeons.
"Also, while the story on its own is fine enough, when put next to every other game in the franchise, P4 is very clearly the odd one out in terms of tone."
The P4 dungeons were mind numbingly repetitive. The Palaces are like a stylish breath of fresh air.
Oh yeah and the spin off certainly didn't help any, especially Q. They essentially became parody versions of themselves.
