Well, you can only sense energy levels, right? I can tell the whole layout of the area, plus any energy signatures. It takes more time, but for larger areas, mine would probably be more effective.
If we're confronted with a large open area though, your ability to immediately see the energy signatures of the things in there would be much more important, and quicker, than mine. It's just a bit unfortunate that we have Wild Cards around most of the time, which pretty much limits your ability to do that.
