The Flooded City
So, the Nexus took this place too huh?

*9S looked toward the watery horizon from atop the rubble of what was once an office building. From there he makes his way to the water's edge, a small grassy patch that lay before miles upon miles of water. He found himself sitting beside a Lunar Tear, and began to sit as though he were about to go fishing. However, his mind was far too preoccupied with matters concerning what he had just come to learn, and what the consequences of learning all this information would be.*
OOC: Context pls
OOC: Oh shoot. It didn't link directly to page 25
OOC: Could've just said page 25 but whatever
OOC: Nor did it contain the remainder of my message. Well, I meant to say that 9S just wandered here (a location in NieR:Automata) after learning some interesting things about YoRHa. The specifics are detailed in the above Leblanc thread, specifically on page 25 in the conversation between 9S and Labrys.
OOC: Ok so there's supposed to be no more humans, but Im human so like how does this work
OOC: Nexus stuff basically. In the year of his origin, which at some point he'll have to return to, all the humans are dead.
Hmm, interesting place, ain't it?
Heh, yeah. A shame most of this part's underwater. I'm sure there's a lot once could learn about the old world here.

*Nines pauses before turning his head to look at Futaba.*

So, what brings you here?
I dunno. I just.....found myself here now today. And you? *Shes looking at the numerous pieces of broken architecture*
*Casually flies around over the "ocean" for a bit, enough for Nines and Futaba to notice*
Well. I guess I'm here because I don't really know where to go.

*Nines smiles wistfully.*
*jumps about the city, seeming to practice mobility skills. Somehow jumps off of water*
I suppose I should appreciate these sights while I'm able to...
*jumps above a large building and glows with bright azure light, then dives down on the building, shattering it like glass.
*Under normal circumstances, Nines would comment on how this destruction pales in comparison to the atrocities the Machine Lifeforms committed. But, he simply remains quiet.*
Perfection...the light of the Eye has served well.
*wanders around for a while, looking through the ruins. He stares at the building Dragoon destroyed for a time, lost in thought. Eventually he sees 9S*

This place familiar to you? We seem to be the only ones here at least.
"Well, perhaps one day this place could be built again"!
@Bgammax

It looks like the Nexus brought a part of my world here. So, while you can I'd say take a good look at what the future holds.

@FutabaAlibaba

Well, to avoid risking everything being destroyed again, the war with the machines needs to end first. And I have reason to believe that won't be happening any time soon. Or at all.

@FutabaAlibaba

Oh, sorry I didn't notice you there. Have we met before?

Can't say I'm impressed Nines. Though you did mention being far into the future. I take it the people finally did something dumb enough to kill each other off. Based on how empty it is.
OOC: @IamThou A good music choice!!
@Bgammax

Hah... I was a fool for believing that there were humans still alive on the moon...
*finally noticing other people are here after that little test, the dragoon jumps toward the others and lands dramatically in front of them. He seems to have a knack for flair.*
People have fallen for worse Nines. Its actually not too different from a lot of religions. They just claim something's the truth, and since you can't exactly fact-check 'em a lot of people will believe it. It's like they wanna believe in something.

And we have a show off here. Great.
Are we speaking of religion? If so, I believe I've a contender for the worst faith system to ever disgrace mythology
Honestly they're pretty much all the same to me. Something power-hungry morons use to take advantage of those who are desperate. Though some of them cause more damage than others, I don't think that's what Nines is talking about.
No. I believe what he speaks of is false hope and blindness to the truth
I'm talking about Project YoRHa. The entire premise of it was built on the lie that humans were alive and on the moon. It was supposed to be a means of raising android morale in the fight against the machines. But... that's not all... they installed a back-door into the bunker so that the machines would inevitably end up destroying us... all of us... You see?! We're all just sacrificial lambs!
All of us... me... 2B... our lives have no value... in fact... we were designed to be disposable, after all. Our Black Boxes are comprised of the same material as the cores of those goddamned machines.

*Presses ctrl+c*
There's a YoRHa model type E that exists solely for the purpose of killing other YoRHa Units if they desert. And the only reason why they'd do that, is to keep them from spreading the truth. It's why 2B... stays around me so much. She has to keep on killing me when I learn too much. She has to keep killing me to stay alive. And... I'm fine with that. If it's for her sake.
So what if you were designed to be killed? I thought you were supposed to be better than machines. Whatever the idiots who built you were planning on, it doesn't really matter. You're as close to alive as any of us. That means you can make your own choices Nines. Make a purpose for yourself.
(Looks like Nines need to get woke)
Nines, was it? I understand the disposable pawn viewpoint. You still have an identity, a core and title means naught to who you are without it. Wear the mantle proud boy, and stand knowing that you are a person, an individual with goals.
(Is the problem that Nines needs to be woke, or is he too woke? 🤔 )
(Need to be woke)
Nines, even if you were designed to be killed, and that you "Don't have a real purpose for existing" doesn't mean you can't find one. You have us with you. You can find a new and real meaning in life.
Then what am I supposed to live for?! To continue to fight in a meaningless war without end?! Or am I to run away and lose everything?! No... no...
If told you what to live for I'd be no better than the idiots who designed you. No, I'd be worse for taking advantage of you like this. That's a question only you can answer Nines.
I can't abandon 2B.
That's one thing I'm certain of.
Live for you. I know what fighting a meaningless war is, a 2000 year long genocidal war for nothing but a false premise. I left the Holy See and stole the Eye for that reason, so I could find purpose outside of that fake life. Exist for your own, those who brought you into this world I now believe have little power to get you out
Then don't abandon them. That's one goal you've already found for yourself. If that's enough for you than good on ya. If its not, then you'll have to find more. Its really that easy.
Well. I've decided then. The next time 2B sees me... I'm going to tell her everything. In all likelihood, she'll kill me and I'll have my memories deleted upon being revived in a new body. If YoRHa decides I'm worth keeping around, that is. But, if I need to die for 2B to keep going... I'll do it.
I'm glad you figured something out man.. And I think someone can keep a backup for you here. So we don't have to go through this conversation again.
*laughs quietly*
Man that would get old pretty quickly.
*walking onto the scene at the mention of death* dying over and over is rather tiring
