I dunno. Just a random GM I guess.

The Plague
The streets have been abandoned. Commerce, discussions, a simple and enjoyable stroll... None of that is possible. Humanity is no more. All that remains are the vestiges we built and the shuffling, hungry hordes that aimlessly roam the lands. You are Patient Zero. the first to have been turned into a man-eating creature. You look and act human enough at a glance, but three things will betray you: 1) All your bodily functions have ceased, meaning you don't breathe, you don't heal, you don't digest... In short, you are clinically dead. But despite this, you are still capable of thoughts and feelings. What you eat still fuels you with energy. You haven't lost your humanity, it just changed into something else. This means that, you will always end up being aware of the horrors you commit. 2) When any of your bodily fluids enter the body of another creature, they turn and become just like you. This transformation takes time however: 12 hours for a child. 24 hours for an adult. Once infected, they will slowly and inevitably turn. The symptoms that come up differ from one case to another, but they all end with the clinical death of the patient and their subsequent resurrection. 3) You feel such an intense and overwhelming hunger and craving for human, or at the very least humanoid flesh that nothing can stand in its way. Love, friendship, respect... They all fail when faced with such a primal craving for nourishment. And even when you eat your fill, even if you were to eat a whole town, you would soon begin to lose your mind again from the intense hunger that haunts you. Forcing yourself to resist this urge will cause you such intense pain that after 24 hours of fasting, or even by trying to eat substitutes, you simply lose your mind in an episode of insanity and eat whomever is closest. You, Patient Zero, the first person to answer to this thread, have already been turned and the hunger is already making itself felt throughout your body. To survive, you must eat, even if they are your friends, even if they are your family. -------------------------- Meta: Zombie thread! Patient zero starts as the first infected. Anyone else that posts after patient zero is clean. It's set in a nondescript modern city. Needless to say, if your character has powers or whatever, they can use them, even as an infected. I'm not gonna interfere or GM or anything like that. The thread is yours to have fun with, though if you have questions or want clarifications about the virus or anything, feel free to ask. Good luck surviving the apocalypse.
If you had to save one game for the sake of posterity, what would it be?
If only one game could be handed over to the future generations, which one would it be? Why?
First edition of the game of rules: Nomic
Welcome to Nomic, the game of rules. It is a very simple game. The goal is to reach 100 points by throwing a die. As this is an online forum version, I will trust that you strictly follow the value your die or whatever rng you make use of shows. The game flows as follows: Each player, on his turn has two actions they can perform in the following order: 1) They throw a die. The number shown on the die is the number of points the player gets. The player has to declare the points he gained and his current total points. 2) The player makes a proposition for a rule change, a new rule or the deletion of an existing rule. All the players then discuss together whether or not this change should be kept or not. This is a democratic game, so you can only validate said rule if a majority of the players agree to it. At the end of the discussion, proceed to a vote and post an updated version of the rules that reflect the changes that were just made. There are two types of rules. Core rules and sub rules. Sub rules can be changed, added or deleted at will (if there is a democratic consensus and debate). In order to do the same to core rules, you first need to transmute that core rule into a sub rule. Only then can you modify it. The process of transmutation must also be democratic and can go both ways: a core can become a sub and a sub can become a core. Any change in the rules takes effect at the end of the player's turn. Then, the next player in line can play. These are the current rules: 1) Core - The player limit is 7. It is first come first serve so anyone beyond the 7th player in this thread will be disqualified immediately. NB: I don't count as a player, I'll only mediate and give a hand if needed. 2) Sub - The playing order is dictated by the order in which players joined the thread. 3) Core - Each player has to follow the Rules. 4) Sub - Each player may only roll the die once. 5) Sub - Players may only use 6-sided dice. 6) Core - The first player to reach 100 points is declared the winner. 7) Core - The value on top of the die is the number of points the player gets. 8) Core - The winner gets to make the next Nomic thread and choose the base rule set. Any other Nomic thread is a lie and a sham and must be burned with napalm. 9) Core - Core rules can be transmutated into sub rules 10) Core - Sub rules can be modified. 11) Core - Sub rules can be created. 12) Core - Sub rules can be deleted. 13) Core - Sub rules can be transmutated into core rules. 14) Sub- Each player has to indicate their current total points during their turn. (not during the democratic discussion) 15) Core - Cheating is not allowed. 16) Core - Rule changes take effect at the end of the turn of the player who proposed the change. 17) Core - Players may only modify the rules on their turn. 18) Core - All modifications of the rules must be validated via a democratic debate and vote.
Imperishable Night : Stage 3 [ Nostalgic Blood of the East]
Having defeated Mystia and Wriggle, our brave adventurers head towards the Human village they heard of. You walk through the woods, carefully guiding yourself by the giant moon now clearly visible in the night sky. Even with Sakuya's time manipulation, the moon slowly crawls ever onward towards dawn. The way through the forest is now rather peaceful, as though the Youkai that haunt it had all left after your last two fights. Through the peace and quiet, you are free to talk and discuss matters with your team mates while we wait for everyone to join back. [Here's a quick reminder of the rules of this game. Please read them thoroughly and carefully as I despise repeating myself : 1) You all have 3 life orbs that do not replenish. If you used one in the previous threads, it's your job to keep track of it. If they all run out and you die again, that character will not be allowed to participate in this series of threads anymore. These orbs will allow you to come back to life when you die. The people you'll fight are strong and first few weren't that impressive, the rest will prove to slowly be more and more formidable. Death may very well knock on your door at any time. Thus the 3 life orbs. They will automatically resurrect you after one turn. They can't be used to heal minor wounds. Or large wounds. They only bring you back when you're incapacitated or dead. 2) Some people took a hold of a colored crystal in the first thread. There were a total of four of them. These crystals can only be used once during the whole story arc and do not replenish either. These objects, when smashed on the ground will free the essence of one of the people you're looking for. It will allow them to temporarily manifest and unleash a devastating move. It will also grant you invulnerability for one turn. Use them wisely. And if the people who hold them don't want to share, that's your problem. It's also up to you to remember who has one and who doesn't. I gave you the tools, you handle them. 3) Once you're done writing your post, please add a small section at the end that is clearly tagged as - PLAYER ACTION - This makes things far easier to read and synthesize for the GM. You don't have to describe your whole action in the player action section. You can do that in your main post and describe it however you want. In the player action section, I only need a watered down, easy to understand version of that same action. 4) The order of actions is as follows: I will only update when every player has written at least one action. Any post that has no action stated clearly stated won't be accounted for. You're free to talk and communicate as much as you want. It's even advised to do so as team work has often been a far more viable strategy. Once I see that everyone has written something, the GM (me or star) will update the thread with the effects of your words and deeds. That is all for the rules. If they need to be updated I will do so in a quick post. ] What do you do?
A door
Before you stands a door. Around you, nothing. Behind you, nothing. All that exists is you and the large oaken door. It is simply standing there. Menacingly. As if it were daring you to approach it. What will you do?
Imperishable Night : Stage 2 [Deaf To All But The Song]
Previously, you were hired by Remilia Scarlet to find and save a group of people that disappeared. These people, led by the famed "Eastern Western Magician" Marisa Kirisame, were in search of the culprits behind the replacement of the moon. Now, you and your party managed to defeat the poor Wriggle Nightbug who thought she had finally found some easy prey only to get steamrolled by you. The night has settled entirely and the sun is no more. Through the darkness, you can make out the silhouettes of your party members and that of a petite frame laying limp on the ground. Insects crawl all around her, none of them dare touch her. The miniature barrier would prove harmful to approach to any who try as the insects, while weak would still try to bite and sting. Slowly though, the girl seemed to recover. In due time, she'll be back up and ready to do some plot exposition. All she needed was an hour (just enough time for star to show up). Then, she would surely be capable of leading you to where you're supposed to go. [Here's a quick reminder of the rules of this game. Imperishable Night - Stage 1
The letter you received gave no immediate clues as to whom the sender could have been, but somehow, you had an inkling that they were not someone to be ignored. It came in a crimson envelope cloaked in the lingering scent of roses mixed with an undertone of something more sinister. The letter itself was almost regal in appearance: black paper adorned with gold-printed flowers and an elegant handwriting to boot. It read as follows: "To those who read this letter, An incident most grave has occurred in these lands. The moon has gone missing and so have those who tried to solve this problem. If you think you have the courage, the wits and the mettle to face this situation, I urge you to head to my mansion, located by the frozen lake at 19:30 UTC. Show the envelope to Meiling, our manor guard. She will show you the way once the designated time has come. Remilia Scarlet." Having decided to help the lady, you head for the manor. After a somewhat lengthy trek through the woods, you finally spot the lake mentioned in the letter. In the distance, the imposing mansion casts an eerie shadow amplified by the dim light of the moon. What will you do now? (feel free to post and chat with others here while you wait for the game to start. I'll ask that no more than 6 players join as things may get a bit hectic beyond that. Expect a lot of fights throughout this series of threads. if that's not your thing, you may want to stay away. Lastly, the rules of this game will be explained by Meiling when the game starts.)
At work. Am bored. Send help pls.
Title. Seriously help me be not bored. I'll do anything
Good news to my fans and friends
I, Liam, self-proclaimed god of this twisted world and savior of degeneracy, am making an official comeback. I tried to do so a few times earlier but the lack of anchoring prevented my uber awesomeness to actually stay present in this era of acursed folly. But fear not for I have finally transcended time, space and my humanity, JOJO!!! Er.. Wrong character. Anyway, this time I'll probably be back for a fair while. Expect many cutious stories and poignant tales to spring forth in the coming weeks!
FOR REAL???????
so, with P5R, do you guys think the site'll get some more traction? I wouldn't mind seeing a new influx of folks coming here. It'd probably motivate me to come back and try to write something interesting again. maybe.
