The First of the Fallen
<spoiler>So, before we get started there are a few things I’d like to set out about this RP.
1. Although we will only update once everyone has posted, The minimum requirement to join is to be able to post at least once daily, failure to do so will result in being removed from the thread to keep us going at a decent pace.
2. I will be using a post-based time system, anywhere between 6-10 posts, depending on the circumstances, will result in a day to night transition. Different things happen at different times, so the passage remain relevant.
3. As there will be a disease in this thread, there is also a time limit, 3 in-universe days (defined as a transition from day to night back to day) until the first signs, 1 day of activity afterwards, and then 1 day until death, assuming the source isn’t found by then.. Some actions can result in early infection, speeding up the initiation.
If you bothered reading all that, thank you, and so we can begin</spoiler>
<i>Out in the Japanese countryside lies a business town, filled primarily with farmers, craftsmen, and merchants living in the shadow of an ancient palace, which has been renovated numerous times by the noble family living there. The town has most everything you’d expect, bakeries, grocery stores, a local hospital, anything the average consumer would need.
Unfortunately it seems to have fallen on some hard times recently. Though the government seems to be trying to gloss over the issue, there has been an outbreak of a previously unknown disease, symptoms including headaches, fever, coughing, and a slow sapping of strength until it’s victims breath their last. As such, there’s a checkpoint at the train station leading to and from the town, where authorities restrict travel to those who they don’t know are uninflected, just as a precaution.
Those curious enough to join, would find themselves at one such checkpoint before being scanned, and allowed into the town.
Before their arrival, 33, or the account Raven Operatives, would check several accounts, tracking a wine glass from its time in France in the 1340s, those who owned the glass were known for having strange changes in taste and falling to all sorts of misfortune, though there had been no major incidents. It’s previous owner sold the glass to a mysterious buyer in the area around this town, with some relief at their ability to avoid its curse. Add in the recent outbreak, and it seems 33 and whoever they may wish to have informed have a target.</i>
A fractal perspective
Before we get started, a note. This thread will be a rather exposition-heavy thread explaining much of my ongoing plot, as such it will have spoilers for the current thread “The Devil of the Mansionâ€, and as such if you are participating there I will suggest you don’t read this.
Per usual, I will use an “update whenever you can†system, and if one is going to be away for more than 24 hours, please tell me, as I would prefer to update at least that frequently, however, exceptions can be made. Without further ado
<i>In a rundown neighborhood shooting off of Tokyo lies a district filled with minor attractions, pawn shops, and... Shadier dealings. In the shadow of these residences lies a single hall of mirrors, it’s sign having said “closed†for the past few weeks. There’s a new sign up front today, reading “Help wanted. Paranormal experts suggested, no need to apply.†As such, the front door is left, though closed, it is as of yet unlocked</i>
The Devil of the Manor
<spoiler>Note that I will not necessarily get very far in right now, most of this will probably occur tomorrow, and as such if you will be busy most of the day you may wish not to join in. With that said, let us begin</spoiler>
<i>Well outside of the main city of Tokyo lies a variety of smaller towns, as with any country. This small town has been the center of a number of missing person's cases, roughly fifteen women having vanished from their lives seemingly without a trace. The town is a rather small, farming community with few stores nearby and only one bar, likely where most of the people meet with so little else to do. A few police cars are parked outside the bar, probably sent to investigate this occurrence if nothing else.</i>
The amazing hall of mirrors
<i>Along the city’s many winding side streets, one can frequently find oddities, from antique shops to places dedicated to foreign countries. Where only a few days ago there had been a cheesecake shop, it seems a full-on hall of mirrors has opened, it’s bright, colorful sign contrasting with the dull street it sets against. Just inside one can see a counter with an older woman sitting at it, smiling while she waits for potential customers</i>
