I agree with most of the positive points on his character here so I'm not going to repeat much. I do like his arc though as a character and do respect him much more by the end once he gets his act together. It does feel limiting for him to have the role that he has and having the dynamic between the boys is fun. Ryuji still a bit of a bad influence on the guy.

Ah, The, eventually, filthy game but the one time we can and it's fun. I agree on there not being any good custom decks. I cannot wait for the finished product. I'd say you have to include as much in game quotes as possible. You have to! Once you complete the game you can add some spoiler y quotes too.
