persona 2 remake when
now i havent really played past the halfway point of p2:is (because real life obligations and stuff) but i think it really deserves a remake for the following reasons 1) its on a pretty niche system (i had to emulate and its a pain) 2) all the graphics are desperately in need of an update 3) the storys a little incoherent and could use reworking/fleshing out 4) it has a lot of potential that wasnt exactly fulfilled through its chosen platform i love the story and characters so far, and would love to see it be given new life in a present-day remaster any thoughts? what would you like to see happen with a remake and why? do you even think it needs one?
OH and also they could put p2:is and p2:ep together in two episodes, which means you wouldnt have to buy two separate games (but knowing atlus, theyd probably separate them anyway and make you pay full retail price for each)
I don’t expect a fan game like P2 to end up getting a remake, but I will admit it has an interesting story and if anyone were to remake such a thing P2 would be one of the better ones to do it for. As for why it was split, that was mostly because the technology at the time couldn’t handle one large game like that. They totally could put it together nowadays

@Bgammax 1) um? fangame? p2 is an honest-to-god official persona game as far as im aware 2) i agree, its very unique in a variety of ways and i feel like bringing back some of the aspects (both plot and feature wise) they had going on earlier in the series with a persona 2 remake would be interesting
@Megidolaon The fangame thing is kinda a joke I make to annoy that Tatsuya you saw on the previous topic who’ll almost certainly comment on this when he gets up. It was made due to the amazing number of people who played P3 on and had never even heard of the first two, so we call P1 and P2 fangames
@Bgammax ohhhhh i gotcha! thats pretty good actually. tbh im semi-guilty of that, i played p4 first, then p3, p5, and finally p2. i knew it existed the whole time, i just didnt know how to emulate psp on my (borrowed) laptop at the time, so i put it off in favor of the others because i couldnt afford to buy it physically. its sad that more people dont know about it (or if they do, dont give it a chance) just because its older

I think there was a PSP remake or something, but I'd totally buy a P2 remaster. Combining the stories is a good idea as well, since some people may get confused and accidentally play EP first. Plus, it gives easy access to both sides.
@PrimPrim oh yeah, i momentarily forgot about the psp remake lmao. but even thats kind of outdated now imo. a remaster is more what i was talking aboutlike you said; p2 but in modern graphics with fresher, updated features. i would definitely prefer to have the two games combined, both because its easier and because its cheaper to buy
What’s a “Persona 2”? Has any game titled “Persona 2” ever existed?
@HahaRIP not to my knowledge ! theres never been a persona 2 ! never heard of her !
Ask yourself this with remakes: how far do you want it to go? Full on upgraded most current battle system, game play, etc? But then is it still even the same game you wanted? Or just graphical enhance? But then, what was really the point? I'm unsure how adding to the story won't drastically alter the game. And even though it's flawed, you still seem to like it very much by even recommending a remake, so perhaps it's fine the way it is? I doubt it'll happen though. Too bad Gamefreak didn't make it, because then it would.

@TogoSystem i guess i like the idea of a remake. what it could be. p2 still holds up, but theres only so much that old tech can handle, and im sure that a lot of the things they wanted it to be got lost in translation. with newer tech, you could make it everything it was supposed to be, but bigger, tougher, shinier, and more immersive. i would want to keep everything about it practically the same, just give it the old buff and polish, some new models/graphics, and a revised extended storyline. think of it as a rebirth. of course, thats what i would like. what i get could be entirely different, and thats why this is more of a "what if" scenario
If P2 still holds up, I don't think it's needed. It doesn't. Really. I would love to see P2 remake. I can't bring myself to finish the game because of the dull battle system.
@Mishima me too! i just left it on autobattle after a while because it was pretty failsafe and so i wouldnt have to think about it any more
I love P2's story for a fangame but the battling system is a bit grating as it has a plethora of strange mechanics, including the variety of attack types. The stupid encounter rate is dumb as well. The level design is iffy as well, I remember you had to find a hidden wall, and it was necessary to progress However fusion spells are the coolest thing ever.

Well if nobody liked the battle system, they would probably update it.
So it's one of those great story, weak gameplay kind of games? Hmm. Those are rare for me, but honestly I think I'd just watch a play through or read the synopsis instead, if it was that bad. But that's just me.
the only thing i insist they keep battle-wise is the characters special actions (tatsuyas impressions most of all)
I was gonna say Persona 2 will get a remake for modern day after Persona 1. But I just remembered that Persona 1 did get a remake for the PSP (I think), and so did P2 EP(?) Although, I would love a compilation remake of P1 and 2. Atlus, please.
