I mean, as much as I appreciate that Robin is a secret character, the conditions to unlock him is downright near impossible for new beginners!
Heck, being that the first step to unlock him is to beat the campaign and arcade mode on Hell & Hell Difficulty (one hit kill on player, three bars of health for opponents) within five minutes is a massive undertaking.
The second step is even more ridiculous as it requires the player to beat the Challenge Map 'Void' with S-Rank score and each match being perfected and completed with an Astral Finish.
Accomplishing both steps unlocks a secret mission triggered by the red-haired NPC by Leblanc.
Urgh, don't even get me started on the final step.
The third and final step is to beat this secret mission.
The secret mission is ludicrous as it requires you to beat 'Despairing Dusk' (otherwise known as 'Oda') with Nanaka, Hill, Gray and Lavenza as the required party members while protecting the red-haired NPC from 'DD'.
Soo many issues with this secret mission. ranging from the NPC being far too fragile and often running head first to 'DD' or even 'DD' having some bullshit levels of skills and abilities.
However, if you manage to, just manage to do it, it will state that 'Ivory Dawn' has been unlocked.
Now, even if it says that 'Ivory Dawn' (otherwise Robin) is unlocked, you have to actually navigate to the red-haired NPC again (who this time is by the hospital) and give her the 'Holy Sword' Fragment (rare item drops acquired through S-ranked battles).
Once that has been accomplished, Robin is free to play!
Oh my god, Robin as a character is fairly summed up as a 'glass cannon' in a sense.
Given his powerful skills and abilities, his swordsmanship is fast, ruthless and far too aggressive.
Despite this, he's extremely capable of counter-attacking and often can maintain long streaks of attacks for a long duration of time.
However, as a massive drawback, he cannot block attacks and is very weak to status effects (Despair in particular) with the biggest setback being his health drains constantly overtime.
Hence, whenever Robin is used, the player must end the match quickly and efficiently as his health does not regenerate.
However, regardless of the difficulty curve in terms of mastering this character, his EX-move is from the stuff of legends.
EX-move, titled 'Ivory Dawn', is an instant-kill attack on opponents that is unblockable.
Being that this is a beam like ability which strikes the direction he faces, it can be dodged if the opponent jumps at the right time (just before the beam hits), allowing them to avoid the instant-kill and only suffer the loss of 50% of their health.
However, as with his own drawbacks, this EX-move does have it's own massive con.
If used, no matter what happens, Robin himself is killed from the attack.
Hence, this EX-move is essentially a kamikaze attack.
The only way to win with this move is for it to land, allowing the player to kill their opponent first before Robin dies, earning them the win.
If the player misses with this attack, it's an instant game over for the player.
