A Garden of No Thorns
In a less visited portion of the city, a garden blooms. Those who have walked by in the past would see a familiar site. A woman with dark blue hair and an eyepatch moved from one part of the garden to another, past flowers and trees, to water and tend to the various plants. It seems she's recently begun working on growing various fruits. After a few minutes of work, she steps onto the gardens brick path, following it to the center and resting on a bench under the shade of a tree.
Have I gotten lazy with describing the garden? Probably.
Garden for the Wandering Souls
A cold breeze rustles the leaves of a few trees that now stand in an area once left abandoned. The garden in this previously barren district of the city had flourished in the time since guests last arrived. On one corner of an intersection, a bench had been built on a small brick walkway, surrounded by flowers of various kinds, with a single tree providing shade for the bench in the center. The other corner had lines of various kinds of plants, some only beginning to grow, as the others had fruit that one day soon could be harvested.
In the middle of the flowers, a young woman sat on the bench she had constructed, taking a moment to rest. Her face and hair remained the same as always, those who had met her previously would notice a significant change in wardrobe. Murakami had replaced her recognizable military uniform with a dark blue turtleneck sweater, and jeans. For her garden work, she wore an apron over her attire, with her long sleeves meeting a new pair of gloves, though both the apron and gloves could hardly be called ‘new’ anymore, with noticeable amounts of dirt stuck to them.
Where Life Blooms
Saeko rested in the middle of the garden as a soft breeze passed by. It’s been quite a while since she begun planting flowers in this space, and it has grown into quite the colorful spot. Though the surrounding city remains dead and without life, this one small spot flows with life.
However, the center still remains a circle of nothing but dirt, with the flowers surrounding the area. In the dirt, where Saeko is sitting, also lies a pile of bricks. Some like the edge of the circle, creating a border between here and the flowers. It seems she has begun working on a pathway in the garden, but has yet to begin filling it in.
Starting a Garden
It's a quiet district of the Nexus. Abandoned and destroyed buildings line the streets. Amidst the debris, Saeko stands up, staring down at her work. She's been returning to this place every now and then over the past few weeks.
Not too long ago, she came here to plant a few small flowers. Now she has returned, and the patch of flowers has expanded a small bit. At Saeko's feet lies several gardening tools and seed packets.
While there are still only a few flowers, and some newly planted seeds, Saeko seems rather proud of her work. She smiles gently as she removes her once white gloves, now caked in dirt.
Lost District
Saeko sits on the corner of a street in a long since wrecked part of the city. The quiet, abandoned street is lined with debris and buildings slowly collapsing, hardly giving a hint that they were used as anything other than a backdrop for a warzone. Despite the damage and hardly pleasing atmosphere, it is a place Saeko seems to visit often. She leans back to rest, pushing her hair back with her hands, the pristine white gloves of her uniform caked with mud. In front of her, in the dirt, are some basic gardening tools. As well as a small circle of white flowers surrounding a single blue flower, all look recently and rather awkwardly transplanted.
