Conceptual Realms: The Horror of Truth
A hint of static buzzes in the distance as the world around you would be completely dark. You'd have been asleep but for how long is unknown. Upon opening your eyes you would see a world around you much different than your own. The floor was covered in thick wires of a multitude of colors and the area around you would be concealed by tall walls covered it what appeared to be screens. The screens were mostly off but a few would flicker with static for a few moments before turning off once more. The air itself felt musty and warm with a presence surrounding it that would make one yearn to understand. One of the stranger aspects of this place was that despite however long you might have been there you felt neither a need for food or sleep. It was as if your body had been placed on pause in this place.
*Being familiar to cryosleep, the Infestation warframe rises from the ground as he surveys the room* This feels like a Corpus research lab... but I am unsure of this.
OOC: my apologies, as I will be at the movies fairly soon I will not be able to join this one. Good luck getting participants
OOC: Many people seem to be busy so I believe I'll be holding this off until a little later.
OOC: And...resume!
OOC: ETA: 30 minutes. Sorry for the wait
After what felt like forever, yet not that long at all, the young, dark-cloaked man awakens. Luard stands up, still blinking the last of the sleep from his eyes, when he takes a deep breath. In moments, Luard is more awake than he has been in a long time. In fact, his mind is practically a wildfire of ideas and curiosity. Yet, of course, he must remain calm, Luard takes another deep breath. For now, he must calm himself and focus on one subject at a time. In this case, the most interesting thing to him is the nearest flickering screen, which Luard approaches and reaches out to gently touch
The screen would seem to light up as Luard approached it. There was a slight delay but the moment he touched it a series of images would flash before his eyes that he wouldn't be able to fully comprehend most likely. They seemed to perhaps show other areas of this world but the details seemed vague and hard to interpret. One thing became clear though through this interaction. This was another realm ruled over by a conceptual being. This realm was known as the Realm of Truth and it contained within all the many screens every bit of knowledge to ever exist. As such this realm would be more comparable to a giant ever-expanding labyrinth with...something...at the center.
[There's a dull pain in the woman's head as she awakens from her slumber, she'd rub at it for a moment before blinking and trying to collect her thoughts... Where is she, and how'd she get here? It's just like when she came to that so-called "Nexus" isn't it? Either way, like Luard she'd aim to keep herself calm. No sense freaking out, and she too would look up toward the flickering screens for a moment, before turning to Luard with a curious look on her face.] "So, I presume you got here the same way I did. Although, if you did happen to know anything more about this place than I do that'd be great, anyway, if anything tries to kill us I guess I'll deal with it, but I'm not a babysitter yeah Luard? So just try to stay out of the way if that happens."
Luard faintly chuckles, Truth? Why, that is what he's always searched for, yet, there are many truths, he finds it difficult to believe that many of these screens would be absolute, in any useful manner that is. Shiki snaps Luard out of his thoughts, causing him to shake his head and turn back to her we're in the realm of truth, a conceptual being.... Difficult to describe beyond that. Though, as far as you protecting me...... Luard stops himself, thinking back, her aura was, in some ways, different from any he had ever seen, perhaps it would be worthwhile to see this Shiki in action. If they ever go the chance. I'll be sure to remain out of the way then. As I've said, I'm more researcher than fighter anyways. Now then, we could probably stare at these screens all day, but for now our goal should be the center of the labyrinth, there we will find the master of this realm, and with it, our way back. That said, Luard inspects the immediate area for any paths, he hadn't noticed it beforehand, but if they just... Ended up here, odds are there is some sort of way around
The area they were in more specifically would be mostly closed off by the screens save for a corridor seeming to exit the immediate area. Where it leads though would be anyone's guess. As for the screen they had been looking at before, it would shut off having displayed the information it seemed to feel necessary to display.
"Truth huh? Death is more my kinda thing, but I guess this could be interesting. Either way, center of the place right? Maybe I can... Make a path, if needed." [He's clearly a Magus of some kind, and this place is way beyond the norm, there's no sense trying to hide her Mystic Eyes at this point anyway. Without further ado, the woman's eyes would light up with a blue glow, flecks of purple can be seen within as well. More importantly, however, is the simple fact that she'd begin to see "Lines of Death" across the room, any object inside the place which can in theory "Die or be destroyed", would have a series of lines across it that when traced, leave it broken in their wake. With that, she'd glance over toward the walls, roof, floor, and even Luard for a moment. Along with that, she'd begin walking down the now apparent corridor as it appears to be the only way out that was meant to be used, cutting entries open is risky after all.]
naturally, as a living being, Luard would display some of these lines, though he wouldn't notice it, Luard can't help but tilt his head and watch Shiki's eyes, only to blink back to focus when she walks down the corridor, running to follow her. Once he catches up a reasonable amount, Luard asks the obvious question. So, if you don't mind me asking, what's with the glowing eyes? Is it a simple sight-enhancing ability, perhaps a form of night vision, or something.... More interesting?
Sho awakens in the strange world. Holding his head as he groans. He was used to headaches but that didn't mean he had to like them. Getting up slowly and watching the screens as he mumbles to himself. This is... No it shouldn't exist. I'm somewhere else entirely. Moving his attention away he notices Luard and another mysterious girl. He didn't know one of them but Luard was fairly friendly. Walking up to them and clearing his throat to announce his precense Ahem! Didn't expect to see you again so soon. A realm of truth? This will be interesting to see what this place has in store. From what your saying I expect combat? I can fight as well. Though I prefer to be in the back lines. So it'll be up to you to be the vanguard. Sho then eyes the other girl. Introductions were now in order, but when he concentrates on her he sees a glimpse of her in a vision. Cutting strings of sorts. He couldn't make it out entirely but he was sure making her angry was a bad idea. My name is Sho Kasugai. It's nice to meet you. Even under unfavorable circumstances. Sho then sees her eyes glow as his own lines of death show up. Sho can only guess at what they mean. But he keeps his distance as he follows.
The objects within this world would, in fact, hold these lines but they'd be much more obscure than what Shiki was most likely used to. it was as if something was through some unknown sending a clear warning to not destroy anything within this place. The corridor would eventually lead to a split path with a screen in the middle. The screen would suddenly light up with the phrase "Share Your Truth" near the top. Arrows with simple text next to them pointing either way down the path would also appear. The left path was displayed as "Power" while the other path would be displayed as "Beauty". The creeping feeling of being observed would slowly fill the air. It'd be unclear where they were being watched from but it felt almost all-encompassing.
"More interesting, technically speaking my eyes are classed as a form of psychic powers, but to be more exact? They allow the owner to "Perceive the death of a being or object." [She'd pause for a moment at that, that's... It fits, but it's not going to do justice to the full concept she's playing with, better go on.] "In more detail, that doesn't just mean say stopping somebody's heart from beating or even brain death. It refers to an utter death of all they are, even magics which can bring back the dead wouldn't save a victim of these eyes death, as the very concept of that person living has been cut down as well. They're pretty rare, to the point most people back home think such power is just a legend in fact." [She'd then look back toward Sho, hmm... There's something off about him, almost like the feeling of an ESP user? Either way, if he's confident in his skills it might just be good to have him along. Better make sure he doesn't hit her with any ranged attacks or something though.] "A fighter eh? You in the back suits me fine, I'm all about getting up close and personal. Just make sure not to hit me with any ranged attacks and it'll be fine, and the name's Shiki Ryogui by the way." [As she notes how oddly hard to see the lines are, she'd mutter a curse to herself and look up at the screen. Something tells her not to cut this place to bits, and things that are beyond death do exist after all... Best not risking provoking something she can't kill. "Share Your Truth"? And two paths, are they meant to go down which one they'd say fits themselves more? In her case, that's Power easily.] "So, I'm guessing we gotta go down one of those roads? And the sign up there makes think we're meant to pick based on which one we'd call "Our Truth"? Or that's my best guess anyways."
Luard briefly turns back to Sho, they had interesting conversations before, so overall there are definitely worse companions than these two. Regardless, Luard shrugs I've been somewhere similar before and got out without actually fighting. Though, I did end up getting stabbed... Its a long story. Regardless, I really can't know what to expect, I merely brought it up because my companion did. With that, Luard gestures to Shiki, the one in the lead, before turning to regard the signs, odds are this is a trial type of situation, and if he wishes to see the eyes in action, then it is obvious he is going to want a fight to occur I believe this calls for us to choose the kind of test we are to go through, those who seek power had best be prepared to struggle for it and all. I would suggest we choose the Power path, though of course I am willing to back down to you two's decision. Seeing as I am a non-combatant, I have little say in this choice He stores away Shiki's description of her eyes for now, an ability like that.... Depending on its precise function and several other factors, there is some interesting potential to be found. But of course, he would prefer a demonstration first
Sho nods as he places his hand on his pistol, looks like his little vision was correct. She was exceptionally deadly. Maybe she had a fate materia? But that didn't make sense, there were only a certain amount of materia and his companions had them all. Well I'll definitely keep that in mind. It's certainly interesting. You don't have worry about me missing Shiki. I can promise you that I don't miss. It's a part of my ability. The gift to see the future. I'll try and use it here before we continue. Sho then walks up to the two paths and places his hand right in front of his nose and clenches it, concentrating as energy stems from him. Using his Gift to peer into the future and see what lays down each path if they were to enter. Of course what he would see could be fragmented, a full vision or nothing at all. After his show of power he turns back to Luard and nods. No fighting? That is also preferable. But I'm expecting the worse here. We don't know what we are up against. So ill stay on guard for now.

Sho's vision would be abstract at best but down the path of beauty, he saw the world grow darker and colder as something seemed to shine down a series of corridors. Down the path of power, he would see a great shadowy figure emerging within a single room that bared down upon all who stood before it. Going down the path of power would lead to a large room in a rectangular shape. It almost would look like a makeshift arena of sorts with red wires covering the floor on one side and blue wires on the other. Many screens covering the walls of the room, however, the screens would all be off as opposed to the other areas where they'd occasionally be flickering. In the center of the arena would be a single computer monitor sticking out of the ground via a metallic looking cable. The screen would be on but nothing would be displayed on it. Unlike everything else here Shiki's eyes would be unable to see any lines of death on the monitor or its cable.
(edited by Meian)
[She's not waiting around any longer, and after a moment the woman simply walks down the path of power with a shrug, after walking in, however, Shiki stares in shock at the monitor and cable, objects that exist beyond the concept of death... Such things are a simple fact in some places, but to see them here confirms whatever owns this Realm is powerful, all too powerful.] "I got nothing from the screen in the center, whatever that thing is? It quite simply exists beyond the idea of being destroyed, something tells me it's pretty important, but uh tech isn't exactly my thing... I can barely work a home phone, I'm not getting near an actual computer."
(edited by Shiki-Ryougi)
Luard, of course, follows after Shiki, careful to keep a fair distance behind her, just to be safe. Once he arrives in the arena, Luard briefly glances around, such a primitive form of entertainment, but a lasting one. Not important however, glancing back to Shiki, Luard shrugs, before nodding to Sho This isn't really my area of expertise, but I do have some experience. I suppose I can attempt at least. With that, Luard approaches the monitor in the center, hoping to get a better look at the screen itself
(edited by Luard)
Sho satisfied with his vision stops concentrating and gets a slight ring in his head, but it disappears as quickly as it comes. Thinking over the images he saw. Light in a tunnel might refer to a maze. While the figure was some form of battle. Knowing this he steps down the Power corridor after Shinki. No use splitting up just yet. Upon arrival he sees the computer and looks to Luard Perhaps you could lend a hand here? I'm sure you can figure something out. Meanwhile stay on guard. I imagine a fight will break out if we try to work with the computer.
Luard would approach the monitor only to see seemingly random numbers fly across the screen. At first, they would seem pointless but something about the way they organized themselves and seemed to be increasing in speed suggested something more. The code almost seemed to be trying to define reality itself as it moved faster and faster across the screen. Finally, as they reached peak speed the screen would once again go blank. The image of an eye would appear in the center. The pupil of the eye would be covered in static. The metal cable seems to begin moving around as the monitor's eye examines the group. Its gaze almost seemed emotionless but yet full of any emotion one could imagine and even beyond that. An electronic voice would begin speaking in many tones at once. ???: "Greetings, I see you've all found yourselves in the Realm I hold dominion over. Allow me to introduce myself to you all as I am aware that you can only understand what you've been told. I am the Embodiment of Knowledge. I didn't expect visitors to my world but occasionally a few may get sucked in unknowingly. This world is constantly in search of something new so it never remains stagnant for too long. The same could be said about myself as the one this world spawned from. Onto the point of this room though. I understand you all wish to escape and return the previous world, however, I wouldn't be content just letting you all leave. There are things I want as well and I'm hoping that I could extract some of those things from you."
[That light thing asked her to find this guy... Maybe she can play this off somehow? Perhaps even get a way to go back to her own home out of this? Either way, for now she'd best focus on the task at hand, which is to say dealing with the floating eye that happens to be Knowledge.] "And what exactly are you hoping to learn from us? Beyond that, how does one extract these things? I'm not exactly too happy with the thought of something poking around in my brain or anything. On the other hand, this room's name... Does it involve a fight of some kind? If that's the case, I'm more than happy to oblige." [She'd watch the eye with a curious look on her face, she's not even expecting to see any lines upon such a being if it is what it claims to be. Yet she'd still look nevertheless... Either way, hopefully, whatever this thing has in mind isn't too awful, Shiki doesn't like their odds if they have to try and go against such a being in its own home. Perhaps outside its world, the thing might not be immune to death, but there's little hope here of all places.]
Luard slowly backs away from the screen, taking out his tablet and beginning to take notes on what this "Knowledge" said. If, of course, he is the embodiment of all things known, then he might have the answer to Luard's current predicament. It is most certainly worth attempting a conversation at least, and so, Luard sighs before he speaks I would be more than willing to share any information I have, whatever little relevance it may have for you. However, I would prefer not to do so one-sidedly. How about this, I can answer some of your questions, and in exchange you answer one of mine. Do we have a deal? Luard raises an eyebrow before glancing at both of his companions, its not much to think of, but there is some chance he can simply talk through this, unfortunate as missing the chance to see his protectors in action may be
You rule this realm? I can't say I'm surprised nor can I say I expected this. Well then Knowledge my name is Sho. Sho Kasugai. Unless you already knew that. Sho then thinks to himself, about to ask but Shinki asked first. Switching his question over to a different one before continuing If I may ask. Your supposed to be knowledge. So do you know everything? Or do you only know what has transpired? Do you know the future or are you locked to the past?
The eye would move around the room freely attached to the metal cable. It would seem to be trying to examine all of them more closely, looking at them more as test subjects than people. First, it would look towards Shiki more prominently staring at her eyes but almost seem to lose interest in them too quickly. Knowledge: "I have knowledge of things you human beings know as lobotomy but I don't believe I'd learn anything new from that process. I simply wish to see how you view things from your own perspective." Shiki would be correct in assuming that there were no lines on this being. The concept of death for them would be connected to the death of knowledge in general at very least this would be the case for them in their current form but there almost seemed to be something more beyond the curtain. The eye would then focus on Luard. It seemed particularly interested in them but tried to maintain its distance. Knowledge: "Answer a question? Very well, but I have a rule I must apply. The questions must remain simple. I am aware of how limited human beings can be with their ability to comprehend the truth. I know of your capabilities as well and that you might have goals that do not align with my own. If you want access to forbidden knowledge you must ask me directly. My true body awaits in the center of this world." Finally, the eye looks at Sho. It would maintain a bit of distance as if aware of Sho's abilities and how they might work. It didn't seem to maintain too much contact with them. Knowledge: "I am in possession of all knowledge but that does not simply extend to human knowledge. All the other Embodiments as well share their knowledge with me whether they are willing or not. If one attempts to hide something from me through some means I simply bring them to this realm as well and extract that knowledge through much more...intensive means. The future and past are no hindrance to me either. The Embodiment of Time knows of those limits but while I can possess all there is to be known and ever was known I am limited in one area. Interpretation. That's why experiments like these are needed. I seek to continue expanding my own understanding of the knowledge I hold through gaining an understanding of the perspectives of the individuals that are brought here."
Luard closes his eyes for a moment and thinks, is this not the embodiment of knowledge? Then, as a scientist, his job is to bring further knowledge to light. After a deep breath, Luard looks up at Knowledge Overall I do believe our goals are similar, though I may be behind you in terms of how close we are. As a researcher, my job is to further create and fuel more knowledge, especially the gaining of it. I know not if my question would count as forbidden, I suppose I must see it through to the end regardless, so of course I will keep it as simple as I can. Luard briefly glances around at his companions, as though reassuring himself that they are there, before finishing With that said, let us get this little interview over with, shall we?
[How they see the world huh? She's not too keen on sharing that with most people, but such an uncaring being won't give a damn how screwed up Shiki's thoughts on things are. That in mind, she just stares up at the thing with a casual interest.] "I see, well like Luard I wouldn't mind having a question answered myself... In my case it's pretty simple though, I'll share my viewpoint gladly, if you're willing to share how I can get back to my home. I'm not exactly looking to understand the secrets of the world or anything, at the end of the day I'd rather just go back where I belong." [She doubts it'll be that simple, but it can't hurt to try right? There's no need to try and hide what she wants, not as if the thing is likely to freak out over such a request, even more so when it's outright telling Luard how to get at whatever this forbidden knowledge might be. Still, she can't help being wary while dealing with such a powerful being... But no sense trying to hide from someone who seemingly knows everything anyway.]
Hmm... Getting his question answered he thinks over what he got and how to proceed. He certainly shouldn't try to lie, and his ability seemed void if he just wanted view points. Still the image of shadowy figure stays in the back of his head. Something was off about all of this. But he had no choice I see. So you need us to tell you what we think? That is how you are limited? I suppose we should get started then. No reason to delay.
The eye would once again look back to Shiki as if assessing her request. Knowledge: "The question may be more difficult to answer then you are aware. I believe you had a deal of sorts with my benefactor, Light. I will give you what you require to return home once you reach me." The monitor recenters itself within the room as the eye would look over everyone present. Knowledge: "Very well, then if you would please tell me. What do you believe true power is? Answer using your own voice and not what others have told you. Type it into one of the keyboards before you and then we will proceed to the true experiment." Three keyboards would appear before the monitor as the eye began to close. Knowledge: "I shall speak to you again once the experiment is successful."
Luard takes a deep breath, true power? That much is simple, true power is created by a madman in a fit of genius, true power is something that can turn everything on its head. True.... Luard shakes his head, stop thinking and just answer already. And so, Luard calmly and silently types True power is the ability to break the boundaries of what's possible, leaving the world trembling in your wake
Sho stays silent as he stares at the keyboard. Waiting for it to come to him as he taps his finger. What did he believe true power was? It wasn't something he could easily define. But after a hard think he comes up with a definition and taps it onto the keyboard [True power is the strength to change the world to your liking. To not accept 90 percent and make it yours. To make sure everyone you care about is happy]
[True power... There's more to that than being able to perform miracles, more to it than being able to kill anything that can possibly die, more than simply having the power to burn anything in your path... It's about being able to stand up and go on, no matter what happens, all the powers in the world are worthless without the will to use them.] True power is the will to do what you set out to, spells and skills can all be gained, but the strength of will to carry out one's goals is what makes anything else worthwhile, thus it is true power.
With the answers given the keyboards would retract away from the group and sink into the floor. The screen would light up with a red glow as numbers and letters would dash across the screen too fast for anyone to see. All throughout the room, all the screens would begin lighting up in a similar pattern one by one. There was the humming of cogs and machines as suddenly the code wasn't being traced along just the screens any longer but the room itself. Everything seemed to disappear except the code leaving the group in a box of sorts rather than a room made of the numbers and letters. Finally, all at once everything would power down. They'd be left in complete darkness before the world seemed to light up. They'd find themselves in an open cityscape with broken buildings and cracked streets. The sound of shouting could be heard to their left where a street ran past the rubble of what once might have been a store. Towards the right was a street that seemed to lead to a much nicer looking area.
[What in the hell is all of this? Lines of random nonsense flying around them. The room vanishing... For a moment she's just staring stunned, after shaking her head for a moment however, she'd quickly focus on what's around them once again.] [She doesn't find herself overly curious about the nicer looking area, and in fact would be rather interested in the sounds of shouting. Still, she's got a goal in mind for once, and her allies might well be needed to get things done. So for now, she'd hold back and look toward the others.] "So, which way you two planning to go? I'm thinking the screams of terror, but rushing off alone seems like a bad plan in this madhouse after all. I'll hang around whichever way you guys want to go, but I feel like we should move quickly regardless of the path we take."
Sho watches in amazement as all the effects happen around him. Unable to act as he's plunged into darkness. When the lights come back on he looks around, noticing the city scape and feeling a sense of familiarity. However when he hears the scream he draws his pistol and looks to his companions Let's go. We can't let somebody get hurt. As much as I would like to rest, it sounds like they need our help. You can go any way you like but I have to help this person. Sho then starts to run the street towards the voice, hoping he isn't too late.
Luard watches the numbers drift by, were he a computer specialist he might have had some chance to interpret it, but alas, this is probably how people feel about much of his work. Luard closes his eyes with the darkness, only to have to open them once more once the light is back. He sees Sho running off and, with a sigh, follows him Sounds like my guards are in agreement, very well then, I have little say in this case. To help those in need and all that. There is a hint of sarcasm in Luard's voice towards the end, but ultimately he goes without any real complaints
Following the sounds of screaming and shouting the group would find that the area they were traveling down would only look more decrepit and broken. There would be a few stores that looked relatively operational but their windows would seem to have been freshly broken and the stores themselves looted. There was even a burning church of a foreign design, smoke rising from its charred surface as an inferno raged on inside. Before them at the end of the road would be a fortress of sorts with steady concrete walls and a gate surrounding its perimeter but around the gate, a crowd of angry and dirty looking people would be yelling and shouting. Some of them picked up rocks off the ground and slammed them against the surface of the gate. One or two hits would do nothing to the gate but over time it seemed to become dented and out of shape by the mobs strikes. Guards dressed in strange clothing would remain behind the gate shaking in fear of the sheer number of angry denizens. Guard: "J-just return to your homes o-or we'll be required to use lethal force!" Mob Member: "Screw your force!" Mob Member: "What home are you even talking about!?! Our 'Glorious' leader has already taken everything from us!" The mob wouldn't relent eventually taking apart streetlights and rubble off of buildings to try and take down the gate. One of the guards began speaking into a communication device of sorts.
[Shiki isn't quite sure if she should bother with such a thing, that mob just a bunch of fools to be sure. And the guards likely aren't much better really, in the end, she simply watches and waits, she was hoping for a demon or something, but it seems as if there's not likely to be a good battle from this place after all... Maybe the one who cares about helping or some crap will try to talk these people down, but that isn't her style at all.] "I see... I'm not really sure what to do with such a gathering of people, perhaps you have a better idea for this Sho? I'm not really the peacekeeping type, so I doubt there's much good I'd do here." [Nor does she wish to do any good here, but that's not the part that she'll just openly admit to in such a case. Instead, Shiki simply observes quietly at the moment, watching the guards and mob while checking them over with her eyes of death.]
For now, Luard simply watches the mob, such fools, making the place worse rather than making even the slightest effort to improve it, shameful, but I guess desperate people have little choice. Seeing no reason to even care about them, Luard sighs, crossing his arms and glancing over to Shiki While we're just waiting, after all, the mob hardly concerns us really, allow me to ask a simple question. With those eyes of yours, how does it feel to know that anything you look at can be obliterated easily? I know this might seem rather sudden, but I have been considering it for some time, and this seems like the best time to ask his question made, Luard takes out his tablet from deep within his cloak and begins rapidly typing on it, though what for is anyone's guess OOC: So that is what you call an alt then. Unexpected, but not too surprising
(edited by Luard)
Going down the street and seeing the destruction can only remind Sho of his own world. Where most of the world was destroyed. The stores being broken into gave him mixed feelings. It was good knowing that people were alive, but this destruction.. It didn't bode well. Damn... This place looks apocalyptic... Eventually Sho reached the fort and watches over the area. Picking up clues to as what's happening in the area. Sounds like somebody is ruling over this place and not doing a good job. Turning back his companions he gets an idea. Well we don't have an objective at the moment. Knowledge just thrust us in here. But I might have an idea. Maybe this Ruler could give us some insight into the place. So getting the trust of those guards might prove useful. I'll check try looking into that guard speaking with somebody. Holserting his weapon he walks up slowly to the gate and tries to push through the crowd, trying to ignore the crowd as he listens into the guards and their chatter. Well that's a slip up and a half. Hehe. First mistake I've made in a while.
(edited by Sho_Kasugi)
[How does it feel... When she first gained them, it scared her beyond belief. Knowing she held such power in herself was a horrible thing. But for all her many issues with the woman... Touko Aozaki taught her that she didn't need to be scared of her power, rather that she should learn to control it and do as she pleased with that might.] "I like it, even if it has the weakness of needing to touch the lines. I can kill anything that lives in theory, and while some things like our friend Knowledge do not in fact live... Still, I enjoy my power for what it is honestly. Though once when I was younger, it frightened me at first, after I had first come into it and didn't understand anything." [She'd then turn toward Sho as the man walks off into the mass of people, hopefully, he can take care of himself, and won't somehow trigger a massive fight... Not that a massive fight would entirely be a bad thing in Shiki's mind.]
Sho would just be able to hear the guard finishing the transmission. Guard: "Emperor Matsuyo is coming....right, I understand. I-I'll tell the other to clear out before he gets here!" The guard would quickly start waving and shouting to the others. Guard: "Hey! Time to go unless you want to meet the same fate as these poor souls!" The other guards would immediately understand the meaning behind his words and all retreat back into the fortress. Finally, one of the citizens would finally manage to break the gate creating an entrance that they'd begin flooding into. By the time a large amount of the crowd was able to rush in a figure would suddenly emerge from the tower's entrance. It was a man with blonde hair and a cocky grin. His outfit was a simple red coat that seemed regal in style. The crowd stopped to face him with rage in their eyes but the man never seemed to show an ounce of fear. No, there would be something else in their eyes. Perhaps some might recognize it but an enormous amount of killing intent would be emanating from them.
Luard nods to Shiki, an almost devilish grin sliding across his face, seems she's the kind who enjoys her.. Gift. There are a few more questions he needs to ask, but unfortunately it seems their attention is being demanded. Luard looks up to the blonde man, for some reason they feel dangerous, a lot more dangerous than anyone before. For that reason, Luard sighs I am sorry to cut this conversation short, but I believe Sho might need some help. As researcher, I will do my best to analyze our potential foe, though I'm not sure exactly how much it will aid, its the least I can do. That said, Luard puts away his tablet in order to step closer to the mob, towards the back of the group so as to give him as much warning as possible, before he draws a pair of magic circles. With a deep breath, Luard sends a low-level pulse through the area, one that would resonate with one's life energy, seeking vital signs and a vague idea of the strength and form of the blonde-haired man's abilities. Unfortunately he would likely catch many members of the mob, but hopefully they won't block it completely
Sho watches and hears the name Emperor Matsuyo. So that's one thing checked off. A name. Now he has to figure out what to do with this emperor. However, when he hears the call for retreat he gets confused, did this person have that much power? When he does arrive Sho watches with a slight fear. He was certainly menacing. He didn't need to use his ability to see what was going to happen. Yelling out to the crowd and Luard Hold on! You have to get out of there! He's going to do something! I don't think you want to be in his way! After yelling it out, Sho begins to move out of the crowd himself and into the sidelines. Hopefully not everyone would die.
[Shiki can easily feel that killing intent for what it is, and part of her wants to go rushing straight at the man with her knife in hand... But that would be foolish, instead, Shiki would aim to examine the blonde with her eyes, scanning him closely for the lines of death. Beyond that, she's curious how the guy will cope with these numbers, raw physical power? Magic? Blah, hopefully not some kind of technology.] "Yeah, I'd say it's about time to start getting ready for a fight here... That blonde guy, he wants to kill those people, he's got bloodlust to spare, to say the least in fact. If I had to take a guess, I'd bet on him being pretty strong... Not in the way most rulers are, but on the level of being a strong person himself." [And that is reason enough to want to kill him, to test herself against his strength and put an end to his life at her bladepoint. Still, for now, she'll keep that bloodlust in check.]
It would be too late to save the crowd at very least. One of them already is moving towards Matsuyo with an iron pole in hand. The pole upon seeming to come into contact with Matsuyo would turn into a refined iron dust. It was as if the metal was simply pulverized in an instant just from being near him. Sparks would begin to bleed from his eyes as he smiled more. It was a smile of both relief and bloodlust like a child toying with a group of ants under a magnifying glass. A stream of sparks would trail down his arm and it was at that moment Luard would be able to see what was behind his power. He'd catch a glimpse of it through the rest of the crowd but it was a power on a scale of what he felt emanating from Oppression before but this energy was rawer and more unstable. The reading on it would also reach far higher than that of Oppression. The man would send out a wave of sparks towards the crowd. All it took was a simple spark touching them and their bodies would begin falling apart instantly. Their skin turned into dust and the flood in their body hardened before falling apart to form a red wet sand of sorts. The crowd would fall into panic as the sparks began flowing through the air. Matsuyo would simply snicker at the crowd's attempts to get away. Matsuyo: "You all should've just stayed at home. Did you really think you could cause a revolution? I'm the one who captured the concept of power with my own two hands! I'm a God compared to you all now! Hahahahaha!" Shiki would find what she was looking for as well. The man did, in fact, have lines to be traced on his own body. However, getting close enough to those lines would be the more complicated aspect.
(edited by Meian)
a God indeed, while slaughtering random peasants might not be an impressive task, Matsuyo's readings are on a level Luard has only heard of. As such, Luard finds it prudent to run back with the crowd, to the relative safety of the area Shiki is in, it seems chaos has broken loose, so there is no doubt regrouping would be best for now, hopefully this Sho can find their way to them He's not boasting. I mean, he is, but he can actually back it up. Unless your ability works on him, or you think you can buy me about an hour, I really don't think there's much for us to do other than retreat, or at least hide until the slaughter's over. His piece said, Luard would look back at Matsuyo, seems unfortunately wasteful, but that is life he supposes. Nothing to cry over for now
(edited by Luard)
[He is powerful... But this, this is pointless. He's just murdering a band of idiots who can't even defend themselves, what the hell is this asshole doing?'] "He has lines, get me close enough to cut them and he'll die like all the rest. Now, getting in close is the tricky part here, and I'm not willing to test my body's power to shrug off damage enough to try getting hit by those, perhaps it would be best to aim for a sneak attack in this case?" [Getting that Sho guy back couldn't hurt, but she's got a burning desire to kill this man by now... Slaughter like this is something even she considers horrid, murder is one thing, but this is just going beyond the few lines even Shiki draws.]
Nngh... So nothing can get close to him huh? I can't use my ability unless I can actually shoot and hit him. Looks like you are right. Better back off for now and see if he calms down for us to chat with. Walking backwards Sho moves to the back and looks around, perhaps there was a way they could sneak past him while he was distracted. Particularly in the wall, surely there were cracks in it that with a precise shot would crumble and open up a new entrance. Meanwhile he converses with Shiki, getting frustrated wouldn't help. Let's just stay cool. No need to get antsy. Even a sneak attack doesn't sound good. That aura could reach all around him. Best to avoid for now.
[Chat? There's no sense in speaking with someone like this, he clearly needs to die.] "I want to kill that man, it's not really anger, so much as a simple desire to test myself... I will admit that his pointless slaughter is a sore point, but it's not just that." [He may not have many standards, but he's clearly like her in some ways... This one takes sheer joy in killing people, and that's something she can understand all too well by this point." "Still, you do have something of a point... I need to understand his power better, but it's based on those sparks somehow, I don't believe they can cover everything, and he had to send them out in order to kill these people. But it'd still be risky if he catches sight of me before I can sink my blade into the lines enough to disable him." [Shiki looks around for a way to escape at the moment. She'd draw her knife from her jacket, and if needed would make quick work of a wall or something in their path to simply walk away for now... With one last glare back at the blonde man, he'll die soon, hopefully.]
Matsuyo would continue sending sparks out in a mass amount to cause the crowd to run away in fear and panic. When he was satisfied he'd simply smile looking pleased with his own work. He'd even bend down to run his hand through some of the strange red sand. Matsuyo: "The abilities of the Embodiment of Power never cease to amaze me. That should teach them not to oppose their God." There would be one more thing Luard's scanner would pick up now that the crowd was gone. They'd detect that within Matsuyo's body was a mechanical device of sorts. It almost seemed to be a cage of some kind located near his stomach. In the walls of the fortress would be a very small crack that seemed to be slowly expanding. It seemed perhaps there was a misfire or something before to create it. It would also be at relative ground level.
OOC: If people are tired then we can put this thread on hold for tonight.
Sho smiles as he notices the crack, walking up to the cracks and pointing his weapon at the crack and glowing blue as his gift activates, calculating as he peers into what will happen when he fires. After a second, he fires a perfectly places shot in the crack and hopefully opening it for an entrance. Let's get moving. No use staying out here. sorry, waiting for Luard first. Resting here could help I suppose!
OOC: I am getting pretty worn down myself, I'd say that sounds fine.
OOC: Good idea, though I know not when we shall continue
(edited by Luard)
OOC: Bumping to see who's around.
OOC: I live! I have escaped the hell known as work.
Luard sighs and shakes his head, remaining a fair distance away from the others, sure to keep himself near the back of the group just in case. With a sigh he notes Its not an aura, its an active channeling of the energy source inside his chest. As such, he is actually about as vulnerable as any other person... When he's sleeping or something. But that's beside the point. That said, Luard's eyes dart back to Matsuyo, Luard briefly considers trying to speak with him, though they are clearly merciless to any opposition, he seems like the type who would be apathetic towards any who may know their place, but ultimately decides against it Regardless, the point being his power isn't his own, and as such there's some chance it is being channeled from a secure location. Sho may have the right idea in attempting to inflitrate the place. However, considering the device in his chest, I somewhat doubt it
[That's what she thought... An aura would be quite painful to deal with. but at least this is beatable. If hard to deal with.] "True enough, my burning desire to kill put aside I don't really think we have to put the guy down." [She too would look back at the man, he said something about having... The concept of power, was it? Yeah, such a source might well be beyond even her ending for good, but the vessel should be another matter.] "And yeah, that fancy device he's wearing is likely where he keeps this Embodiment of Power. I doubt we'd find it just laying around."
The bullet Sho carefully fired at the building would successfully open a tremor within the wall. The group would now have a way into the fortress if they so choose to go that route. However, the sound of the wall breaking would attract Matsuyo's attention as he looked to where the noise came from. Everyone at this point was around a corner though so he'd have to walk over in order to see them in clear view. He'd begin walking over to where everyone is as sparks begin forming around him. Matsuyo: "More people? Either some of my guards were too idiotic to get out of here or we got some stragglers. Why don't you come out now if you are my guards? You know I treat my men well when it counts but if you are stragglers I'd recommend to continue this game of cat and mouse, your deaths will be just as painful as quick regardless."
Sho grips his pistol as he hides behind the corner, channeling his vision again. His mind was destined to go berserk if he keeps up this usage, but he had no choice. Losing a bit of sanity was worth seeing the dangers ahead. As energy condenses Sho opens his eyes and peers into the future. Seeing what would happen if he stepped out into the open. However, like previously stated his clairvoyance is limited. Hoping for a good vision Come on gift...
[Shiki would sigh and move into the cracks that Sho had opened, she'd rather not keep playing this game for long, but she needs the perfect moment to spring her blade onto this fool. So for now, she simply walks into the newly made hole and searches whatever it leads to, for a good hiding place. Assuming she found one, the woman would crouch down low and hold her blade at the ready, prepared to dart into motion at a moment's notice as she still her breathing and becomes silent.]
Luard sighs and gestures for the other two to enter the hole, he can't really explain the plan, due to the risk of being overheard, so instead, he simply gestures for the others to go in, and steps out around the corner to bow to Matsuya Neither actually, I'm more of a traveler. Far too new to be a member of your guard, and nowhere near foolish enough to follow the rabble. Sorry for the alarm, considering what happened to them I thought it prudent not to be in the immediate area. You may call me Luard, for what time we may be acquainted
Sho would see visions of two different results. He could see fragments of himself or Luard simply turning to dust just as the citizens had but there was also a fragment of being brought into the fortress by Matsuyo. It seemed that it would be risky but negotiation was possible to some extent. There was also a possible fragment showing the shadowy figure from before rising above all else but then in the corner a bright but small light would appear from behind the shadow and somehow topple it. Shiki would find that the crevice led into what appeared to be a barrack of sorts after a bit of walking. No guards would be around at the moment but it looked as if a few had recently been here. As for Luard, Matsuyo would eye him for a moment as the sparks from before seemed to almost approach Luard but he would pull them back closer to himself. Matsuyo would grow more curious of Luard's presence than anything. Even his clothing was strange as if he was perhaps a foreigner. Matsuyo: "A traveler? Not often we get travelers coming through these parts. Most of the world is already under my flag so where are you from exactly? I guess it doesn't really matter either way but better to know than to not, in case you're an assassin of some kind sent from the outer lands."
Sho stops the vision with a gasp of air as he feels a slight nudge on his mind, nothing major, he'll get through it. With this knowledge he looks to Luard and nods in his direction, taking him as a distraction for him and Shinki. Crawling through the hole and investigating the barracks more thoroughly for any information. Trying to stay quiet though, even if it toke longer then rummaging You go on ahead. I got this.
[Shiki would follow suit after Sho, there's not likely to be much in here. But even so, she'd look around aim to see if there's anything useful laying out, documents, maps, codes perhaps? Whatever the case. She's doing so rather slowly and quietly, there's no need to be obvious about such things after all.]
Luard pulls out of his bow, briefly adjusting his coat, before bringing out the tablet from within, Luard makes a few brief notes as he replies, a notable tone of carelessness in his voice I doubt it will mean anything to you, but I hail from the United Sanctuary, a prosperous kingdom on an entirely different world. I am a researcher, of sorts, focusing on energy sources, and ended up in this world as the result of an accident during one of my experiments. Shortly after my arrival, I heard stories about an incredible power held by the ruler, and followed it all the way here. Those fools did at least serve as a chance for demonstration, just a brief scan and I could see you far outclassed anything I'd seen before Though Luard keeps a relatively calm profile, his eyes briefly glance off to the side, as though considering possible places to flee in case things turn against him
Shiki and Luard wouldn't find much in the barracks besides extra clothing and a few books but lying on one bed was a strange electronic device. If interacted with it would seem to be an electronic map of the castle as well as some sort of access key to enter into other locked rooms. One of the guards must have left it behind by mistake. Matsuyo: "Another world? I was aware things like other worlds existed but to see someone from one is quite interesting. However, you said you were focused on energy sources, so what exactly do you need from me?" Matsuyo would begin smiling wildly as sparks flew around him in what seemed like a wave. He seemed to be trying to intimidate Luard to see if he'd crack under pressure.
[Shiki would take the map and turn it on, she'd hold the thing up so Sho can also see it and begin examining the thing closely... This is the kinda stuff she was hoping for after all, hmm... Armory, other guard stations, wherever that boss guy's quarters are, that's the sort of thing she's curious about. Time to start planning a possible assassination.] "So then, a map and key eh? I'd call this one a pretty good find, but where to go with it. The guards will show up at some point no doubt, and I'm not entirely sure how easy sneaking up on Mr Power will be, or for that matter how much of a response they'd have to their leader being dead... Too much unknown info, not enough time to gather it all."
Hm.. I have a feeling that those guards won't know what to do without their Leader. Cut the head off the snake not the tail. I might be able to get you an opening. Those clothes give me an idea... Once Sho is done reading the map he returns to the pile of clothes. Throwing them over his existing uniform to try to disguise himself. He didn't know the protocol around this place but hopefully his background as a SEALED operative could help. When he's finished he crawls out of the hole in the barracks and hides next to the wall again. Watching over Luard and Matsuyo. Waiting for now. He had to wait for the right moment...
Need is a bit of a strong word. Luard keeps his eyes on the sparks, seems that's the only real method of channeling Matsuyo can do, if that's the case, he might have an easier in than anticipated As a researcher, it is my duty to discover everything the world, whether foreign or my own, has to offer. Naturally I would like a closer look at this energy, to analyze its form and function. In exchange, I can attempt to teach you more about channeling this power of yours. From what little I've seen it seems your world is far behind my own in that regard. If you would like, I can give a demonstration of the sort of ability I am referring to
Shiki would find that the fortress holds several other barracks like the one she's currently in. Down the hall from the barracks would be a small storage room most likely for weapons and armor. Following the hall in the other direction would lead to a bathroom and locker room in sorts that was nearly double the size of one of the barracks room. A door in the middle of the hall would lead to a training room of sorts with a door at the far north corner of the training room leading to a rather grandiose control room. Oddly enough there didn't seem to be a bedroom for the leader. Matsuyo would look at Luard and size him up. He couldn't tell if this was a trick but he almost didn't see the point if it was. He believed that if it came down to it he could vaporize Luard in an instant like the others and more power, while it did almost sound like Luard was belittling him, would further allow him to exercise control over the populace. Matsuyo: "You've got guts to talk so openly about my power but I'll bite. I could always use a little more info to further expand my influence. Anyway, you mentioned an ability? How is it that you plan to help me learn more about the concept of power?"
Sho decides to bite the bullet and takes a deep breath. Looking down at the ground and trying to walk past Matsuyo, moving slowly across the road to access the space behind him perhaps there could be something interesting beyond there!
[Nowhere he sleeps listed... There goes one of an assassin's best points to strike at, off the list. Hmm, for now, the woman stows the map away inside of her jacket, doing her best to hide it from sight before she follows after Sho. In such a place as this, splitting up might not be the best idea, much to her chagrin the man's visions have proven useful so far. Thus she'll stick with him until their goals clash too much.]
Allow me to correct that here. I did not say I would help you learn about the concept, I said I would help you learn how to CHANNEL it. The latter implies little about proper understanding. The few I have looked at before I was unfortunately unable to properly comprehend, yet that is unnecessary for the sake of channeling it. To demonstrate, Luard takes a deep breath, stepping around Matsuyo to face what remained of the ruined village. Luard picks a building to target, one of the less destroyed stores, and begins drawing a pair of magic circles, these solid red lines would linger in the air, glowing faintly with energy. Once these are finished, Luard begins drawing a variety of runes between them, most notably one resembling a roaring flame, and another closest to a winding road These are known as a magic circuit, used primarily to focus and enhance my own energy. Your sparks are undeniably effective when you're present, yet they're still so.... Primitive. Lacking in range, and quite frankly rather slow when dealing with large groups. Once you get the hang of channeling with a circuit, you could use this power of yours much more efficiently. Like so. His runes done, Luard would finally thrust his palm into the center of the circuit, announcing the spell name as he does so Cursed Dragon's roaring flame. With that, a massive serpent made of a dark, orange flame emerges from the circles, aimed directly at the storefront, it would soon overwhelm and engulf it in a massive conflagration. Depending on what its made of, this could either set it well ablaze, soon to collapse if it is wooden, or leave it a charred husk for sturdier materials like stone
Watching Luard's demonstration, Sho and Shiki would be able to sneak over to the front entrance of the fortress just behind Matsuyo. This would lead them to the training grounds if they so chose to go this way. Matsuyo would be a little annoyed by Luard's correction and seeming disrespect but he couldn't deny that the runes he used were impressive. The building would be left deeply charred by the impact of the flames. Matsuyo weighed his options, part of him thought to try and destroy Luard where he stood but he also felt that he could at very least be used first. He wanted the power of the ruins to allow himself to channel his power better so for once the mad emperor would show the slightest amount of restraint. Matsuyo: "Color me impressed then, so how would I learn to do something like that anyway? I'd be more than willing to let you do what you want if you could teach me about those magic circuits."
As Sho approaches the training grounds he stands a fair distance away from Matsuyo before stopping. Putting his arm in front of Shinki to prevent her from continuing and whispering This could be our chance. He'll be too focused on Luard and his teachings we'll be given a small window. Let's get ready. Moving to face Matsuyo Sho hides behind a bit of cover as he stares down the sights. Watching for a signal or something Any time now....
[Shiki's eyes light up, there's a blue glow inside them as the woman whispers back to Sho.] "So it would seem, if he's stunned long enough I should be able to kill him very quickly, assuming I get close enough to use my blade anyway, the man has lines after all so his death is in reach." [Much like Sho, she'd take cover and stare over at the man Luard is speaking to, studying lines going across his body... Upper chest into the head, that sort of strike should put him down if she can land it. Just need a moment where he's not able to react.]
Well, for us, the circuitry is actually one of the first steps. Luard takes a deep breath, before turning back around to face Matsuyo, from what he can he tell the person themself probably doesn't have a potential far above average, but these things hardly matter when you're effectively borrowing the power of a god. My branch of magic focuses on life energy, that which is inherent all existent things. As such, all one has to do is learn to channel your own energy first. With that complete, its only a few simple steps before you're able to channel sources and use them as your own. As far as the circuits are concerned, specific spells and runes are the only part of the whole process that can really be learned from a book, but you can also invent your own. The idea is for them to give form to the energy, otherwise you simply get a weak pulse. Luard sighs and grins for a moment, seemingly proud of himself as he inspects his left arm I was able to get that far in a matter of months, but of course I am exceptionally talented. Still, it probably won't take too long for you either. After that its really all about variation in utility rather than strength
(edited by Luard)
Matsuyo would think over Luard's words almost confused as to what he's trying to say. He would bring his hands in front of him and try to focus the sparks into them. Eventually, they would seem to start condensing more and more until a large ball of pure looking energy would form. "Is this how you channel energy? Or did you mean some energy separate from the concept of power? I don't know if I even know how to channel that energy anymore. The concept of power is basically my own power at this point." He would be heavily focused trying to concentrate the energy into one place completely unaware of what Luard could have truly meant.
Heh. Just as I thought. Steady... Steady... Sho watches Matsuyo and follows his movements. Tapping into his gift to grant him perfect accuracy even from his range, testing numerous shots in a split second. Now with a mental lock on he fires his perfect shot as it goes to strike a non vital organ. Hopefully incapacitating. He didn't want to kill him. But with the others around it might not be that easy
[Nonlethal... That's risky, if Sho screwed it up then he might well be able to kill them regardless, but Shiki's at no range to help Luard if that's the case anyway, and there's no fun to be had in taking down someone who's been mostly beaten already. For now, she simply sighs and keeps watching, that guy's aim better be as good as he says it is.]
That's a basic form of channeling, but not nearly enough Luard of course can't help but hear the gunshot, unfortunately as an outsider, he might be immediately associated with these others, considering his proximity, that may result in injury or worse, so, rather than risk it, Luard takes advantage of Matsuyo's confusion to focus on his left hand, Luard would attempt to thrust his arm straight through the area near Matsuyo's stomach, leading to the cage-like device, passing straight through physical objects along the way, in an attempt to grasp whatever energy is inside of there, and crystallize it into one of his jewels before retracting his hand. If this fails of course, Luard would immediately jump back to get what little distance he can
The gunshot would be heard by Matsuyo who quickly would release the energy he had been accumulating to try and defend himself from the bullet but it was too late. The shot had fired past any of the sarks that could have made it in time hitting him directly in the chest but still missing his heart. The sparks would flicker away as he grabbed at the wound allowing Luard to reach for the device in his stomach. The energy would form into a crystal but something about it became unstable immediately as it began glowing and the device within the man began to malfunction. Finally just as Luard retracts his hand the energy would burst forth causing Matsuyo to suffer from multiple internal injuries as a massive stream of energy would flow out of him and accumulate itself into the air above. The energy within the sky would begin clustering around as Matsuyo fell to the ground. Finally, the energy seemed to form a singularity of sorts. The energy would seem to almost be looking at Luard, Sho, and Shiki but just as quickly as it was released it would seem to fold in on itself as if leaving. Matsuyo would slowly begin trying to get up anger in his eyes. Matsuyo: "I knew...you were nothing but a lousy assassin! I'm gonna tear you limb from limb! Did you think I couldn't retain any of its strength! I was bonded with Power for 10 years! Now I'll show you what that bond means!" Despite his less than stable state he'd get up with a bit of trouble as he swayed on his feet. Spark would surround him though they'd flicker every so often. Despite this, he'd send them to go after Luard in a final attempt to get revenge.
[No more, there's a blur of motion as Shiki rushes across the field, the glow in her eyes turning even brighter as the woman moves toward Matsuyo with inhuman speed.] "Assassin? No, he's not an assassin, that's actually me, but I'm not being paid for this one Matsuyo... I just really hate assholes who flaunt their power by slaughtering people needlessly. it's a damn waste, and it doesn't even prove anything beyond the fact that you can take out weaklings. If you want to prove your might then find foes who can actually keep up with you!" [Even as she rants, the woman's blade would fly toward the upper part of Matsuyo's chest, aiming to strike into a line of death going up it and toward his neck. Assuming he wasn't able to move away, she'd follow the line and cut through him like tissue paper, finally ending it by slicing one going along his neck which would cause the man's head to clatter down to the ground.] "Try not to get hit Luard, I might be able to "Kill" magic, but even I'm not crazy enough to try and cut something that killed people so easily."
Naturally, Luard immediately jumps back, not wanting to learn about the sparks' effects first-hand, though of course he wouldn't be able to outpace the sparks. I told you from the start I was only interested in studying this ability of yours. Unfortunate it got away from me, but failures are inevitable when entering new territory. As he speaks, Luard rapidly traces another set of circles in the air, he wouldn't have time to write much of anything between them, instead simply raising them as a makeshift barrier, better to strike a portion of his energy than Luard's actual body.
Sho focuses again and aims with his gift! Firing this time at the feet to soften up the target fir Shinki! Hopefully this shot to thw Achilles will be the last one needed!
A few sparks would reach Luard's barrier but suddenly, Matsuyo would notice Shiki and quickly try to turn to try and fend off her attack causing the sparks to slowly move away from Luard and towards Shiki. This is a fatal mistake for Matsuyo though as they wouldn't be nearly fast enough to protect him in time. Matsuyo: "Like hell, I'll die to-" But Matsuyo would be quickly caught off guard by the shot to his foot allowing Shiki the perfect chance to strike directly at the line of death. With it severed so too would Matsuyo's head come flying off only to land on the ground. Matsuyo's lifeless body would land on the floor as the floor itself seemed to go dark. The multitude of letters and numbers would once again spread around the group. Before they knew it they'd once again return to the room from before. Knowledge: "Excellent, it seems the experiment yielded interesting results. Your reactions were perfect for what I was testing for. With this, I will allow you to approach further towards me."
As Matsuyo dies Sho curses under his breath. He might have done some bad things but nobody deserves death. However his little episode would end rather quickly as Sho feels his head get heavy. Shrugging it off as he returns to Knowledge Gah... That was pretty tough. But we got there in the end. If I may Knowledge. How many more experiments? I have to manage my sanity. Knowing how many trials are left will help with that. I don't exactly want to berserk and end the experiment prematurely. SAN: 50% Just a small reminder for myself. As for OOC info I may have neglected to mention that Sho uses up that sanity bar to use his gift. Running to zero won't kill him. But it's typically not the best!
With the danger over with, Luard sighs and drops his barrier, unfortunate failure the whole mess was, Luard glares over to Sho, the man who shot and blew away any attempt Luard might have at talking it through I would appreciate it if you would save your heroics for when I'm NOT right next to the psychopath who just obliterated a mob. Thank you very much. His frustration voiced, Luard would shake his head before looking around, ah, yes, back to the matter at hand of course I'm glad I was able to be of some assistance to you. Now, I would appreciate some... You know, direction at finding you. After all, I have a question of my own to ask
[Closer to Knowledge eh? Well, she might as well go along with it for now... There's clearly going to be more of this madness, but at least that one was a bit fun for what it was worth.] "Eh, I'm fine with the gunshots, but we all know that I'm bloodthirsty anyway... Besides, somehow I get the sense that was our fastest way of doing things if nothing else, and I don't speak for you, but I've got no desire to spend too long in this realm." [The place seems a bit like a deathtrap by the standards of someone who considers being shot at slightly annoying... The Light did call this place dangerous, and Shiki can't really argue against it.]
Knowledge would once again take over the computer screen with its large eyes with the pupil filled with static. It would move the monitor around the room via the metal appendage attached. First, it would look towards Sho directly and speak in a very direct way. Knowledge: "I have one more experiment planned before you may reach me. As usual, I will allow you to chose which experiment to go forth to the next room, however, if you need time to regain your sanity then you may rest for now. Physical sleep is not required in this realm but your spirits may need time to recover. That simulation you experienced detailed a very...tramatic...moment for Power. They haven't been the same since that incident. It was also a terrifying realization for all Embodiments when we realized human beings could harness a trap to contain us and abuse our power." Knowledge would focus in on Luard to answer his question as well. "Yes, there will be another set of room and then you will be able to find me regardless of the path you choose." With the questions present answered Knowledge would deliver one final message before the monitor would shut down. "The next experiment will begin shortly but I need time to prepare certain things and record the data I've collected in a suitable manner. You are free to rest here for now..." OOC: I think I'm gonna call it here for now. I'll probably try to continue this next Friday if that works for everyone else. If not then perhaps some time during the weekend might be better.
OOC: Very well, if you insist. In that case, good night everyone, and good luck in your endeavors
Sho nods to Knowledge as he steps back a bit, leaning against the wall before hearing Luard throw a few complaints his way, looking apologetic and offering an apology Ah..! My bad. I thought that was the plan. I suppose we should have discussed it before we went through with it. But it all worked out in the end. That's the important thing. With that done Sho leans back and closes his eyes. Not falling asleep, but resting for a while. Recovering his mind alrighty! Sleep it is!
