Honestly Mona and Teddie both seem to have been designed as tutorial characters to introduce the supernatural concepts to the protagonists (and by extension the player). P5 r tried to make him less useless by giving him more character motive after he descoverd what he is. I think it would have been better if they potraid him as less of an asshole

Look I'm not implying that Mascot characters are bad, I'm fully affirming this statement They are weird ass comic relief and only serve as exposition until they are gone and we need to feel sorry for them, while also having their existence sorta explained by Igor or someone similar and even then still make no actual sense because from P3 up to 5 the universe consistency has been gone to such shithole extents I'm surprised they still treat it all like one universe, same timeline and world. Uh, Koromaru isn't actually a mascot. P3 really doesn't have a tutorial type character that's also gimmicky and weird. Actually...wait... Thanatos isn't human and appears during the tutorial. You could also say death kinda guides the protagonist... Thanatos is the mascot character of P3.

Well... I always thought about him as just comic relief... but the truth is, when I'm just beginning to like him, he does something stupid again and loses my friendship points. Of course, there could be a way to change the plot to not include him at all, but I always thought that would be faster to just make Morgana more likable... but of course, P5 didn't do it and P5R... well, couldn't do it, because it would be really weird to see a completely different character just looking exactly like Morgana (maybe he had some change of heart, nyahaha.... pardon me.). But hey, there are some pluses - when he's funny, I think he's legitimately funny. He is a badly written character - that's for sure, but imo every character in P5 is - more or less - flawed. And - you know - he could be worse. No, Aigis doesn't really fill a mascot roll. She's not even there from the beginning of the game and acts more as a love intrest or simply just a heroine in the game's story. That's more or less solidified by her being the main protag of the Answer as well.

Well atlus needs that sweet merch money so they have to make a mascot to put on EVERYTHING. Persona 5's mascot is Joker, not Morgana. Unlike 4, where every character's design was relatively nondescript, they, from the onset, gave the Phantom Thieves each designs that stood out, with Joker's most culturally universal (the gentleman thief/picaresque thing is a lot bigger than people know).

I know this thread is probably dead, but I think that Morgana is alright. He serves as that early game healbot that most games usually feature. The character could be written better and I agree with alot of the opinions made here to some degree, however, he serves a decently important role early on. So, over all, Morgana is annoying but useful for healing.

I mean, sure, he is pretty pointless at some points, ESPECIALLY at you know what point. But he does teach you things about the Metaverse. If you didn't have him, you wouldn't have Mementos, and then the bad god in the Depths would end the world you were in. I personally don't care for him as a character, but he was essential to my team as he had ALL of the healing abilities that were actually good.

I would keep him in because I have a bias for cats and all things cute fluffy. besides, it is better than Teddie's bear puns.

gotta say, i actually liked morgana much more in my royal playthrough than my original p5 playthrough (fuckin hated him then) but i don't really know what changed i guess my hatred for phansite mona made me appreciate game mona that much more
