Why would anyone want to join this idiocy? Pissing you off is very fun. Also, a thing's fanbase isn't representative of the thing itself.

Why would anyone want to join this idiocy? Pissing you off is very fun. Who's pissed? It's just inane. But that's what happens when a site is full of children.
Most sites are, you see, most people never really grow up. They simply go about every day acting like it because that's what they're expected to do. Everyone has their own, childish wants and needs, they simply spend much of their time repressing it in order to appear more, well, "adulty"
Hey. Hey Togo. There is no place that isn't full of children. I know it's horrible because children are obnoxious, but if you just ran around telling each kid "GO AWAY IT'S A SITE FOR ADULTS", you'd just make yourself look like a kid, and pissing you off would become even funnier than it already is. So please go run around and tell each kid you see to go away, it makes me laugh.
Why would anyone want to join this idiocy? Pissing you off is very fun. Who's pissed? It's just inane. But that's what happens when a site is full of children. If the site is for children then what are you doing here?

flashbacks to Call of Duty players That is an extremely dangerous assumption to make Togo
Call of Duty is rated M, and no one over 14 actually plays it.
Sadly, it's true. I guess it's the parents' faults.

Behold, I have arisen from the ancient days of the site. It is I, the original Yu Narukami. Also, Kitagawa is wise as usual.

Plot twist. Adults can have fun by pretending to be a fictional character on the internet.
You know, I used to hear all sorts of terrible stories about people pretending to be 14 year-old girls on the internet. Now that I'm one of them I am unsure of how to feel

It's like you think kids can't handle mature themes and have fun at the same time or something.
He probably thinks that because kids can't hand mature themes. It's usually not a very good idea to let kids play games with mature themes at a young age because their minds are still young and malleable. Sure, they can still have fun, but it's usually a bad idea.
And yet they do it anyway, dood.
The problem is when the minds are young and malleable, that is one of the BEST times for them to be exposed to more mature themes. This is a time when they have time to learn, and holding off more mature themes til they're older will mean they're not as easily going to be able to learn and adapt these things, and as a result you'll end up with an older mind who doesn't know how to handle things as well.
My take on things, who care what people like at what age? Everyone's different and it's kind of shitty to make generalizations for any group of people.
It's usually bad to subject children with malleable minds to mature themes because they can't really understand those themes yet, and from it they can easily get a warped view of reality. One way to stop would have the child be under supervision I guess, but parents do not have enough time to constantly watch their children. It's usually just better to keep children away from mature themes until they can understand it.

There are kids mature enough to handle Persona. There are adults too immature to handle Persona. Physical Age != Maturity
There are kids mature enough to handle Persona. There are adults too immature to handle Persona. Physical Age =/= Maturity Fixed Although, I find it kinda funny this dumb meme somehow turned into a serious conversation on maturity

Togo, just because you can't grasp someone's fun doesn't mean it isn't fun to at least someone.

It's clearly just TS saying "I don't like it, thus it must be for children."
It's not that I don't think kids can't like Persona. It's that I grew up at a time where kids go generally had to work or sneak to play or watch such things. Parents didn't just buy you anything. At a time like that, havens for franchises like this would be age appropriate. I wish parents wouldn't just let their children play those types of games. I'd think the same way as a parent. As usual, KQ is the only one who gets it.

You don't give them nearly as much credit as they deserve.
Gin
Togo, I know this may be a hard concept for you to grasp, but just because you're not having fun doesn't mean something isn't fun for others. It may be shocking to hear that, but it is true. Shocking, I know, but different opinion do actually exist. As for kids and themes and whatever, I think you have to trust kids know what is fiction and what isn't. You can't shoot up a shopping centre because someone did it in COD. People are abusive assholes in real life. If they know life isn't fair early on (I say early. More like 7 or 8) then they can adapt much quicker than if they are coddled all their lives.
You don't give them nearly as much credit as they deserve. I know what I was like at that age. And all my friends. Kids are pretty dumb.
Some parents decide that children can handle certain games because they trust them. Some children are mature enough to handle it. I'm not saying that a 10 year old should have GTA V or something but at least give these peeps some credit rather than chalking everything up to bad parenting.
I know what I, and all my friends were like at that age. Kids are pretty smart.

No, kids are pretty much dumb. Another reason as to why kids should not play games with mature themes is because, kids can already be pretty evil because they lack morality most of the time. A game with a mature theme can easily make them pretty evil. There's a reason as to why there's a "M" on the box.
Maybe just talking to the wind here but can people under a specific age really be treated the same way? We're talking about an entire generation of humans here right? In my experience it's very hard to just brand a large group of people as one thing or another. Again, that's generalization and typically most strive to avoid doing that since it goes into the territory of things that we do not and cannot outright know. Guess my point being the whole argument of what is and isn't good for children to be exposed to is kind of unfair in the first place. If you're not that person or do not have a complete understanding of what that person can or cannot handle then who are you to be judging them exactly?
You don't give them nearly as much credit as they deserve. I know what I was like at that age. And all my friends. Kids are pretty dumb.
Gonna have to disagree. I played P3P at the tender age of 8. I believe it helped me to accept death is inevitable. But it's not something to be afraid of. As for if children to play Rated M games. I agree with Yu. It's up to the parent to decide.

I believe it helped me to accept death is inevitable. But it's not something to be afraid of. But here's my question: should someone who didn't even fully grasp what death was even gravitate towards something full of that theme? What would they even get out of it? Certainly not the original intent.
Listen, we somehow went from P4 memes to pointless banter about video games and kids. How about we just end this and move on with our lives? Besides, in the end, whatever kids are exposed to isn't really something we can control. Times change, man. But war. War never changes.
Gin
Wouldn't exactly call them extremes, but I won't deny there are in between. Wouldn't call all kids dumb either, but that's another point entirely.
They don't have to. Art, or in this case video games, is always subjective. When you see a painting you see something in it that nobody else will. So I shall state this again. It is up to the parents to decide if their child should play certain games.

Besides, in the end, whatever kids are exposed to isn't really something we can control. Times change, man. But war. War never changes. Listen friend, I'd love to agree with you and all, but like... Pulls out cigarette. War has changed. It's no longer about nations, ideologies, or ethnicity. It's an endless series of proxy battles, fought by mercenaries and machines. War--and it's consumption of life--has become a well-oiled machine. War has changed. ID-tagged soldiers carry ID-tagged weapons, use ID-tagged gear. Nanomachines inside their bodies enhance and regulate their abilities. Genetic control, information control, emotion control, battlefield control…everything is monitored and kept under control. War…has changed. The age of deterrence has become the age of control, all in the name of averting catastrophe from weapons of mass destruction, and he who controls the battlefield, controls history. War…has changed. When the battlefield is under total control, war becomes routine.
My experiences growing up was, kids like 'mature' things due to the allure of being adult enough, or flashy, extreme violence, ie, spectacle. Even if the violence is in service of the plot by intention, kids only care about that bit. The rating isn't because kids can't 'handle' it; it's because they generally are unable to fully grasp the intent of the narrative. It's not FOR them. They're not to that level, regardless of what they think. Oh how worldly I thought I was as an idiotic 8 year old.
(edited by TogoSystem)
But the problem is that parents don't decide what their kids play. Little Jimmy asks his mom for the latest Call of Duty game and she buys it without even looking at it. It feels like most parents these days don't care why kind of media their children consume.
Togo if you can't handle our memey fun then make like a tree and leaf
tfw arguing in a meme thread. How's that fragile ego, fellas?
That's a fair point. But. May I say this again. It's the parents choice to see if they are mature enough. Even so, if they can't grasp the meaning behind it, that's completely fine. This is a video game. Not college art studies. People can interpret them, or they can skip though the plot and only play the game. Then that's bad parenting. Not our problem to tell parents to pay more attention to games they buy.

My mother or anyone else in my family would never know what the M on a game would actually mean.

Togo I'll say it again meme or die
I will actually agree with Killer Queen on that one. It is an unfortunate fact that many parents simply hand off the responsibility of parenting to someone else, they simply do what makes their lives easiest as opposed to what might help their child the most in the long run. However, that doesn't mean that no child is mature enough to handle the situation. Ironically, the ones who are ready are most frequently the ones who have received more proper parenting, and the ones whose parents are more likely to say "no" to a game considered outside of their age range. Its not something that can be categorized easily, especially with such labels as how old they are, rather, its more of a case-by-case thing that the person's caretakers should take the responsibility upon themselves to determine whether or not someone is ready. I mean, I'm not even old enough to play Persona technically (I also haven't but that's not the point here), yet I can still hold an intelligent conversation on its themes.

Memes are part of a balanced breakfast.
Meme tag> lack of talk tag
I mean are there kids who shouldn't play Persona and are only attracted to the violence? Sure. Are there kids who can in fact handle tougher themes and sort fiction from reality? Sure. Are there adults who can't sort fiction from reality? Sure. But what does ANY of that have to do with people deciding to RP P4 characters on an IRL recreation of the P5 Phansite?
Togo I'll say it again meme or die Jesus Christ What the fuck. Either don't pay attention to something if you don't want to bitch or whine about a Game Movie or Some Product of media. This was a simple Meme. And now it's idk even know. Did this small joke get ruined? I would say...Big time, Everyone can we just take a chill pill and Call this Argument Case closed?

Well, this Persona 4 invasion is going quite fine.
Did someone say something about the evilness that is Memers? For I am here to stop such a thing by throwing chalk and pointing menacingly at you! http://aceattorney.wikia.com/wiki/File:Aristotle_Means_(real)_-_angry.gif

Meme tag> lack of talk tag I've yet to see anyone get banned for daring to start a conversation in a meme topic. Or for anyone memeing in a talk topic.
Go back to class and learn! Get a real job! No Personas in my classroom! http://aceattorney.wikia.com/wiki/File:Aristotle_Means_(real)_-_angry.gif

Memes have the superiority in a meme tag. Thus, we have the high ground, Togo. Plus, you were kinda insulting people so
http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/643/953/40f.jpg The memes must be restored.

Threatening a mod isn't exactly a smart course of action. Look at the funny dankified Rise picture everyone! https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/343111131050541057/397589197529022467/Rise_I_need_help.jpg
A) Naoto wins for most self-aware character in P4. B) Rise looks too cute when dankified.
I'd say the mod threatening a member only because they don't like them is worse.
Hibiki's just joking. Maybe. Loosen up, dudebro.
You're right, threatening someone on a Meme topic. A true crime.
It truly is an intolerable crime. I'm going to have to take you in.
As this is a Persona related thread I believe we have the authority to make an arrest for such a crime. Proceeds to arrest Togo instead.
Excuse me this is a P4 thread and you didn't exist until Arena.
But Persona 4 Arena does still exist.
Oh yeah, have a shamelessly stolen meme. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/329344295859650560/397472592115662849/DSavUX3VQAErZ_S.png
Wow, Chie wasn't taken all this time? Just goes to show who is the worst girl actually, it was but the user got pruned when mishimadmin killed all the old gods. I just stole his account.
On a side note, about what was being said about children, I think saying they're either smart or stupid isn't quite right. Children are candid, they don't know much about the world around them. they only have so much experience and knowledge to work with so it's only natural for them to look stupid to some people. But I've seen kids who were extremely smart or wise about some things, and sometimes more than me. A child's "smartness" or "stupidity" vary greatly from one subject to another. One kid may be incapable of spelling a word correctly but he could be capable of playing some really complicated song on the piano. Same goes for wisdom and maturity. It just depends on the environment you grew up in. If during your youth multiple deaths happen in your family, P3 will be a game that resonates with you and would be easier to understand. The child has experience in the matter and can reflect upon it. To me P3 meant a lot less since as of my 21 years of life, I've only seen one person in my family die. I was much more interested in P4 wich was about friendship and accepting one's self. It's a game that hit me because I was having trouble with accepting things about me and my life. In short, kids are as stupid as they are smart, it's just not something you can generalize. There are too many variable in the equation to make any kind of general rule about it. On this note, I'll go back to studying philosophy.
shut to heck up everyone knows p3 is the best anyways
Thanks for restating my point, Liam.
Welp, looks like I missed it.
