What got you into the Persona series?
Personally, this is my first Persona game and I would like to hear your opinion on the series so far.
This is my first too
I started with 4 after my friend bought me GOLDEN for my Vita. I went back to 3. Fell in love with both
I got P4 golden for my vita in my.last year of uni and was stuck to my vita screen for months on end :P
I first heard about Persona when Two Best Friends Play played Persona 4. I wanted to play it so bad but since I have bad internet in where I live, I can't emulate it because of really long downloads. Then, a year later someone decided to give me a working PS2 with games inside it's hard drive. I found that Persona 3 was one of the games, and played it. I got hooked in tothe game, and then I was introduced to the Persona series
Someone offered me to trade Persona 4 Golden for my Dragon's Crown few years ago. I was like why not, the game has great reviews.

Best trade ever.
It startet with a other SMT game called Digital Devil Saga on PS2...i know there is some sort of fight between SMT and Persona Player but i dont get why
I liked dragons crown but P4 is far better, good trade indeed :P
I hear that fans of the main series see fans of persona as casual :/
yea I see that too a lot. SMT fans call Persona fans casual for whatever reason
My friend made me play that one online SMT game that was going for a while. I was terrible at it and had no idea what I was doing but it was enough to get me to look into the other games.

I stuck to SMT only for a while because Persona intimidated me a bit, but I finally sucked it up and got Persona 5. I intend to go back and play the others.
Devil Survivor - Overclocked was my starting point.
First actual Persona was P3P
I started with persona 3 and I don't regret it ! Every Persona has its originality and part of obscurity (even if P4 is clearly less dark than the others)
Its worth getting a PS TV as you can play P4 golden and P3 portable on your TV :P
@Mokona don't bother with them.
I have played both, but I like persona more
Maybe they don't like that Persona seems to getting more main stream attention than the series its spun off from?
No matter the reason ...its stupit anyway
A friend introduced me to Persona telling me P3 was one of the greatest games ever made and they certainly weren't lying. Never did I think P5 could actually surpass 3 though, but it did. Anyways, after I played P3P and P3FES, I wanted more so I went back and played a lot of the early SMT games and then the earlier Persona ones. Been a huge fan ever since.
First Persona game, absolutely loved the funky art-style and music, but ended up being so much more than just the artistic creativity.
It's a fair reason. Persona is atlus' biggest moneyspinner now and they could be accused of neglecting their other series' for more persona spinoffs and merch (where is etrian odyssey 5???) Seeing stuff like dancing all night getting made is just spitting in the face of anyone that would love a new Devil Survivor, Devil Summoner, DDS etc.

Some persona mechanics and design elements are spilling over into their other games and not everyone wants that either. So it's not surprising that fans might get mad.
I never had any of the consoles needed for the other games, so when I heard about P5 I was like "That sounds pretty fun." 106 hours later it's the best game I've ever played.
Bought P3FES and P4 a few years back, since they were relatively cheap and I had heard good things about them. I enjoyed both immensely.

FMF
One of my friends had P4 Golden on the vita for around 2 years and all my other friends joked about the game being weeaboo garbage, but the friend with P4 Golden didn't mind. Then around this time last year, I saw that the original P4 was on sale along with P3 on PS3. I bought P4, because it looked more like weeaboo garbage. Then, when I got to the Mitsuo dungeon, the P4G boi gave me Ultimax for free, as he was gonna sell his PS3
and buy a PS4 in preparation for P5.
My first experience was technically with persona 1 on the psp, which i found fun but... ended up not ever finishing. I had a minor interest in persona 3 and 4 from hearing about the on the web, but i didn't try the rest of the series out til i met by bf about 2 years ago and he insisted that i needed persona in my life. ...Still didn't get around to actually playing it til i bought 3 a year or so ago. I loved it but haven't tried more persona up until 5 came out, where i bought it on day 1, and bought 4G a few weeks later (tho i hadn't tried 4 out til just a few days ago due to being busy with 5~).
Hm,think it was around my junior year of high school that I watched some gameplay of it. Did a bit of research on it and got curious. Ended up watching the P4 anime, played both Arena games, and played a bit of PQ. Couldn't play any of the originals as I don't own a Vita and at the time my PS2 was busted.

For my first actual Persona experience,P5 is just perfect
Funny story.

I remembered hearing Persona music in Five Nights at F*ckboys and I liked it. I decided to look it up and then watched a play through of Persona 4 Golden. Before I knew it, I was hooked and already buying SMT stuff.
My Oniichan. He was so frustrated with the calendar system from the original P3 and P4...and by 3rd year highschool I played P3 in PSP and cried like a lil noodle XD ever since then ive becomed more persona biased (than ff) and a platinuming addict.
Well, it all started when I shook hand with a gas station attendant...
I bought my self persona Q, which was my first Persona actually
and also I saw NicoB let's playing P4 golden.
bumpo
i heard a lot of positive things about persona 3 so i got a copy when i had a chance!! afterwords, i played tons of SMT games and even the mmo for a while!!
My ex, actually. She was really into persona at the time, so I thought "what the hell. I'll try it out."

And from there I became obsessed with Shin Megami Tensei as a wholw
I actually found out about Persona 2 after reading up on Lovecraftian references in games on TV Tropes. From there, I played both games, then P3, and so I was hooked on the series for life.
Oddly enough, the Hiimdaisy comic (before there was a dub for it)
I read it and was giggling even without knowing the series, found out it was based off a game, and now I'm here years later.
Started from Persona 2 Innocent Sin then played the rest and I don't regret the time I spent with the Persona series. Persona 3 and 5 really touched my heart with their unique characters
Gonna put this thread back at the top with my tale.

My first experiences with the Persona franchise and SMT as a whole came from seeing someone playing P3P in my high school anime club and the hiimdaisy comics. I was then interested in the series a little bit. I somehow ended up hearing reach out to the truth (I'm sure it was one of the live versions) and loving that, but still hadn't looked into the series.

Eventually, I would be looking for Playstation 1 games to emulate and by browsing the RPG tab I stumbled upon Revalations: Persona, and decided to give it a try. Fell in love with just about everything about it, but dear lord was I lost trying to navigate the maps. Through some twist of fate I found out about the PSP remake and got it on my Vita as well as the other PSP ports and eventually Golden.

Oddly enough, the only two Persona games I've beaten are P1 and P5. I mis-saved after purposefully getting a bad ending in P4G and I'm just sitting in the last stages of P3P for no real reason. Big Atlus fan regardless, and I'm hyped for anything they put out, Persona or not.
Saw SuperJeenius on Youtube play P4G, then i saw his P3FES, then got PQ, then a vita with P4G, and now P5.
I played P3P on recommendation from a friend back in maybe 2013, and from there I was hooked. Borrowed another friend's Vita and played P4G and feel even more in love with the series. Just beat P5 and am already playing NG Plus. For me it's the story/social links/music that really draws me to the series. Of course the combat is fun and I enjoy the dungeons, but the real draw for me are the social aspects.
bump
I was always into the Final Fantasy series, someone told me to play P3 on the account that it was like it but with a more modern setting. I played P3P twice and became hooked, P4 came next and then the Arena games and obviously P5.
